Igbo leaned from Yoruba to support errant politicians.
PoliticsRe: NPC Chairman Says Has Evidence There Has Been No Credible Census Since 1816 by mekuslogan(op): 11:03pm On Aug 06, 2013
Prof Humphrey Nwosu from Anambra conducted the only credible election we have ever had.
Dr (??) Festus Odimegwu (Former MD and CEO of NB Plc) from Imo may very well be conducting the only credible census in Nigeria.

He should be careful that he is not removed before the census in 2016 by ''owners of Nigeria'' who detest credibility.
Hopefully GEJ will still be in power so that Odimegwu may be the one to conduct the census.

Odimegwu, please make sure you add ethnicity and religion data to the census questions.

NPC Chairman Says He Has Evidence That There Has Been No Credible Census Since 1816.
by Stanley Azuakola.

The chairman of the National Population Census (NPC), Dr Festus Odimegwu has confirmed what a lot of Nigerians have always believed – that the results of national census over the years in the country have been mostly forged and did not reflect the realities on ground.

In fact, these two pieces a few months ago from Feyi Fawehinmi and Godwin Ogedengbe show some startling facts and observations from census data.

Odimegwu told journalists in Abuja that no credible census has been conducted in Nigeria since 1816 because census figures were regularly distorted for selfish reasons.

“No census has been credible in Nigeria since 1816. Even the one conducted in 2006 is not credible. I have the records and evidence produced by scholars and professors of repute. This is not my report. If the current laws are not amended, the planned 2016 census will not succeed,” Odimegwu said.

He alleged that a former Lagos governor falsified census result some years ago, and also recalled a particular incident in 2006, when staff of the NPC protested because figures were being manipulated.

“During the 2006 census, workers locked out the commissioners over creation of new areas,” he said.

“Nigeria has run on falsehood for too long. We must stop this falsehood and put a stop to all of these. The Boko Haram problem is partly as a result of that. Because the 2006 census was not correct, the former board of NPC was unable to publish the figures.

“If they try it, there will be an uproar. We must make Nigeria work. We cannot do that unless we know the statistics. We cannot build infrastructure without demographic data. As long as the figures in Nigeria are wrong, corruption will continue to thrive. We must have an organised data before we can plan for Nigeria.

“It is either we do an accurate census or we will not do anything. We are committed to giving Nigerians a credible and reliable census. Nigerians are weeping up sentiments, but we have gone beyond ethnic sentiments. Nigerian children are suffering and many youths have no jobs,” Odimegwu said.

BENIN – CRISIS is brewing in Obagie-Nunuamen and Orogho communities in Orhiomwon Local Government Area of Edo State, over the ownership of an oil well in Iwevbo.

While chairman of Obagie-Nunuamen community, Mr. Femi Aiwansedo, accused Newcross Petroleum Limited, an oil company operating in the area, of colluding with some elders and chiefs from Orogho to claim the oil well, which according to him, belongs to Obagie community, the people of Orogho Dukedom, led by Chief Aiyeki Okpamen accused Aiwansedo of imposing himself on Obagie community as leader.

Addressing newsmen in Benin, Mr. Aiyeki Okpamen, who spoke for people of Orogho Dukedom, said the Dukedom did not recognise the leadership of Aiwansedo, adding that his current activities, if not checked by the state government, could lead to breakdown of law and order in the communities.

But reacting, Aiwansedo said that based on his election in 2006, he was invited to the palace of Oba of Benin via letter dated October 25, 2007 for a meeting with the royal father scheduled for November 27, 2007.

Dumb post from a dumb poster who was laughing at Igbos while Yorubas were being deported from their fatherland. Woefully attempt at rewriting history. Awo killed more Igbo than Nzeogu and his Igbo and Yoruba (Ademoyega) coup plotters did Yoruba and Hausa. Achebe only reminded us of what we already know of Awo

demmie1: now that the truth is out, watch'u gonna do? go to war?
It is for you Yorubas to shut up and accept the truth. And no, the truth did not just come out from Achebe, we know it already. Google nairaland on this topic. Achebe only just officially confirmed it.

Still does not deviate from the fact that Awo was a monster who tried to kill off all Igbos because he saw them as a threat to his political ambition. Achebe hit the nail on the head but its really only a confirmation of what we nairalanders, Igbo and level-headed Yoruba alike, know about Awo.

danjohn: Yoruba because they are the most enlightened and the most tolerant Nigerians.
Hahahaha! Most enlightened than who and where is the evidence and result of that claim?

abes: How? with a neutral reference pls.
You would have to do the work of referencing. However, when Biafra lost Calabar and the non-Igbo speaking parts of Biafra, the boarders were taken over by Nigeria which gave Awo the opportunity to carry out his long-time devilish plans to exterminate the Igbo. Hey, it is okay, we survived it and now must talk about it, whether you Yorubas like it or not. So Achebe was right.

abes: What about the border biafra shared with Cameroon, did Awolowo close it too?
Yes he did, working with Gowon
