See eh, one thing I do know about visiting the US for childbirth is that you should be able to afford all medical expenses related to the delivery and not depend on medicaid here in the US for part or most of your expenses, or else you may be found ineligible for future B1/B2 visa renewal should you want to re-enter again. That being said, you should be looking at areas here where childbirth is quite affordable for international pregnant women, and co-incidentally El Paso in Texas happens to be number 1 or 2 lately for many foreign Nigerian pregnant women. Follow the link justwise for more information. Good luck.

Hence the error has been made, how best can it be corrected to be able to get visa again?

I doubt if you can pay back Medicaid. It's a goverment fund and the hospital got paid. I will advise you to contact the hospital if they can arrange a way for the bill to be re-billed as self pay then you can make payment arrangements. Depending on the hospital , they might refuse to go that route with you.
Medicaid doesn't have as direct payback process. Only hospital can help you

Thanks

@Justwise,
Thank you so much for the feedback.
How can one pay back Medicaid? As I have tried severally to no avail. Attempt to get information via email has proved abortive.

Please why is no one responding to my above question? It's not fair oh

Waoh Virt,

Congratulations, am happy to share in your joy and hope to experience thesame joy. Unlike you my us visa is expired and I have not been lucky renewing it I am thinking it's because of the reasons I explained in OmoBendel24's response from me am not really sure what the problem is. I will follow your advice and pray my process takes a short time like yours and is successful too. Thank you.

Virt:
@Mel01. I don't think there is a particular format you need for the letter (purpose of travel). However, your letter should be persuasive enough with valid proofs. I had a friend of mine give me a letter of invitation, she is a permanent resident in Canada, and just immigrated a few months back.
A colleague only booked a hotel without a letter of invitation and was granted the visa, though hers was just for vacation purpose.

@JESUunifemi, yes, my friend lives in Toronto. I'll read back the thread for Hostepper's recommended Doctors in Toronto. Thanks.

Well, my visa processing took 5 weeks.

@Mel01, I have a valid US visa and I didn't explain why I didn't want to give birth in US, I rather focused on the fact that I believed that Canada has a good healthcare system that I desire to use.

I provided all the supporting documents that is required on the CIC website, including other documents that I thought will support my application. E.g a simple medical report from my Nigerian Doc of my past delivery experiences, Letter from my office, that I will be on leave and I desire to go to Canada, and that I will definitely return after my leave, a photocopy of my friends PR card (a hotel reservation if you do not have a letter of invitation). Every other documents I provided was as per the CIC website.

I also indicated in my letter of my past international travels, and that my US visa is still valid. However, some pple get their visas even without a single international travel history.

Ultimately, pray!!! Getting a visa is not out of what God can do.

Wish you the best and hope to learn more from the thread.

Hello OmoBendel24,

Thank you for the input, I had tried to renew the US visa but it was not granted. Unknown to me, I had a pending surgery payment for my baby and I had told the nurses to include in the baby's mediced. The VO was upset at that. I have tried to undo dat bill but made to understand it cannot be undone, but I can try to renew again some other time I may be lucky that' s where I am with the US renewal. But all my birthing expenses where settled.

OmoBendel24:

This your advice is meant for those seeking visa for the purpose of birthing in the US and not Canada, really. @Mel01, kindly go through this thread and learn loads from here, it's for your good. Anyways, I somehow feel there's something fishy about your 'expired' US visa (why not renew it as a matter of few days?), hopefully it's not something the CIC/IRCC people will use against you though! Please note that there's interrelatedness in their workings FYI. Regards

Thank you so much RedReact for the information.
Please the letter I am expected to write is there a particular format I am expected to follow and are this reasons expected to be like? My US visa is expired now so that one is not an option for me at this time.

RedReact:
Mel01, if you are due by December, you should go for paper application, perhaps it may be fast enough for processing. You don't need an invitation, a tourist visa will suffice. While filling your application, let it be known that you will be seeking medical services while in Canada and you back your choice up with letter and reasons why you decide to want your baby there, as against Nigeria and the USA, where you had your first. You can also seek a reference letter from your hospital/doctor in Nigeria.
I hope you have your US visa still, in case Canada delays or doesnt approve of it, you have another alternative to fall back on.

Thank you so much for the feedback, it's highly appreciated. I mentioned my due time to hear your opinion being the expert. However, if I do get the visa before the time can I look you up on some assistance with all I will be needing.

Hotstepper:

It is my first visit. The challenge I have now is that I don't know anyone in Canada what can I do about the invitation letter. Am hoping to contact hotstepper when I finally get the visa for assistance but at this time do I get a hotel booking? And also I had my first baby in the US does he need an ETA to accompany me.
Thank you so much.

^^^
Are you doing visa renewal or you are a first-time applicant? If you still have enough time on your side, you can go for online application, but if not, kindly go for paper application, as online application is fond of taking long these days.
Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by mel01: 11:45am On Oct 21, 2016
Hello Goldie10, Pls how did you go about the online application thingy? I got the reference code but dont know how to go about the username and password to aid submit my documents.

Goldie10:
Hey everyone, finally submitted my online application for renewal of my visa.

will keep you guys posted on outcome. Feel free to ask questions on visiting visa application for online submission.

its pretty straight forward and like hotstepper mentioned there's no section for stating if one is pregnant or not. However there's an additional optional section for any explanation in support of your application where you can upload an explanation letter if you want to.

Hello Ladies I recently had my baby in Calgary, Canada. Before I applied I read nairaland from pg 1 to 20 plus then. Pls let's read the ALL the pages before asking any question.

At the point of Entry the officer just asked my why am in canada, I said Visiting. He asked who?, what I do for a living & other random questions that has nothing to do with my pregnancy, don't think I spent more than 1 minute him.

My bill for Vaginal Delivery

Admittance fee 838,
Hosp fee daily 3673 (For 24 hrs)
Baby's Hosp bill 1080
Obstetrician fee 500
Paediatrician fee 250
Total CAD$6,341

Other Expenses
Birth Certificate long 60
Birth Certificate short 41
Passport photo 25.2
Canadian Passport 107
Nigerian Travel Doc 100
Post to Nig. Embassy to & Fro 40
My baby's KLM ticket 243.5

Please Note: If they had asked me if I was pregnant at the Point of entry I would have said YES. There is no point lieing when u r obviously pregnant. If u r lucky u can meet a good officer.

This bill does not include seeing doc before & after delivery. I posted my bill to give a guideline, bills varies from the city u give birth, the doctor, type of delivery and also if there is complication.

I want to use this opportunity to thank Hotstepper for her assistance when applying for baby's Nigeria document. I wld HV applied for Nigerian Visa or passport for baby BT she explained to me that its not necessary. I should just apply for Emergency Travel Certificate for baby which is cheaper & faster.

If you need further information I will try my best to answer. Goodluck!
Hello Jinnyz,
Please I am interested in having my baby in Canada but I don't even know how to process my visa talk more of birthing there can you help. Thanks
Travel / Re: Giving Birth In Canada by mel01: 7:41am On Oct 15, 2016
Hotstepper:
Thank you for this. Thank God someone that have experienced both have analyzed it.

As soon as the baby is born, everything about the baby's health is free. Even the visit to the Dr nd first immunization they recommend before you take the baby out of the country is free in Canada but not in the US

Your information is quite helpful. I am thinking of doing the same in Canada but don't know how to go about it. Can you give me any link or form of assistance with this.

Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by mel01: 5:16pm On Jul 11, 2016
Hello everyone,
I had a personal experience at the embassy today and would love to read your advice. I had my interview today for an F1 visa and was denied. During the interview the lady asked who filled out my ds-160 I did and she said why did I only put my last trip instead of my last 5 trips I told her I did not read it that way when I was filling out. Then she asked how much I paid for my child's delivery and his surgery and my child's birth date I equally told her I told her the surgery was paid from his health insurance being a citizen and then she got angry and said I refused to pay for my son's surgery and I am ready to spend more money for school I said to her the studies is being sponsored. She still refused oh.
Now, I have been to the US a couple of times on a B1 visa on the last visit I had my baby and he needed surgery which will be done at his 3 months of age, I was going to overstay my visa and applied for an extension this was granted after I returned home after the surgery. I went for the F1 visa in Dec and was denied and this time again.
Pls what do I need to do to get my visa granted.
Thank you all so much for your time and anticipated feedback.
