... So the Lord blessed us with a baby girl a few weeks back. Apologies for sharing my experience a lil late. It hasn't been easy managing two infants. Everything from the prenatal visits to the deliveryat Mihs went well. I had planned to have a natural delivery without any pain meds just like my first but the little snag was going through the pain alone without any support person. Agreed, I was told the nurses in mihs were very nice and could support me all the way but I really did not want to leave anything to chance.
Just at the last minute, I decided to get a doula. Though she did not do much, I am glad I made that decision. Few hours before delivery, I told her ( my doula) the situation of things and she came over to my house to see how things progressed. We left home for the hospital when my contractions were between 7-10mins apart. On getting to the hospital, I was hesitant about going in as the contractions were not strong enough and I did not want to be turned back seeing as the maternity package includes only 1 ob triage visit. She encouraged me and we eventually checked in after walking for some minutes outside in a bid to move things along. Checked in and was 4cm dilated (wide smile on our faces when we were told that.) . Fast forward, labour went smoothly , but was very painful compared to my first because my baby came out 'sunny side up' . The doctors and nurses were awesome and I must say they know their onions. Processing baby' s papers and can't wait to go back home.
Wishing all preggers mamas and papas goodnews at the end.....SHALOM!

i think the $29 plan would be better for someone who is visiting for 2 months ( esp pregos from Naija with family) cos it comes with Unlimited talk, unlimited global text, 1Gb data, unlimited international talk, 1000 INT'L MINUTES and $2.50 credit to call anywhere
The $29 plan would be ideal like you said but the 1000 free international minutes to Nig is only applicable to landlines.

Thank God for a safe trip and great experience at POE. Pls am interested in how comfortable the flight was. U choose a bassinet seat for going cos u had a baby? And who finally used the wheelchair?
I intend using emirates too and will be travelling with my toddler so all info u can give will be very helpful. Thanks
Yes I chose a bassinet seat cos I had a baby even though the bassinet wasn't used because it was too tiny for my baby. The flight was very comfortable, its Emirates you know.... At some point my bsby was so cranky! one of the attendants came and took him for a walk (thats hiw nice they can be apsrt from the wonderful flight experience). I used the wheelchair o while my mom pushed my baby in the stroller, was too weak to walk. But when we got to Poe, my sister, strength came from nowhere and I walked while she sat on it. I did not want the cbp officer to see me and think I will be popping next minute smiley.

MamaTobenna:
. Hello. Thank God for your smooth Poe and flight. I want to fly emirates too and I think the 7 hr layover is a usual. Biko what is snooze cube.? Howz the leg room for the regular seats
Snoozecube is just a room with a bed ( would not want to call it a hotel grin). U are charged by the hour for staying while waiting for your connecting flight. It's right inside the airport and u do not need to go through security or immigration before getting there. It's some walk though, so a wheelchair is advisable. If you are given one, the wheelchair person ( dunno what they are called pls) will come pick you close to your boarding time to the gate for boarding.
The leg room for the regular seats is okay. Was unable to get a bassinet seat on the Dubai newyork leg and the regular seat was just fine. Remember to choose an isle seat oooo!
Cheers !

So in the spirit of giving back to this wonderful forum, I arrived Phx last week to the glory of God. I flew Emirates with my mom and baby. About six days before the trip, I went to the spa so as to help me relax well in preparation for the long journey. I chose a bassinet seat about 2 weeks before d trip and requested for a wheelchair as ws advised by Phema of life grin, though it wasnt given in my name. They said my kid was too big to be on a wheelchair with me undecided. Got to the airport, cleared with customs and at the check in counter, the emirates staff I met made a fuss about my travel letter. She insisted it should have read ' she is fit to travel BY AIR'. Was delayed for sometime but was later permitted to go board. Smooth flight, got to Dubai and rested in Snoozecube for 5hrs as I had a 7 hr layover. Bed was ok but no bathroom ensuite like UK's version (yotel). Fast forward, landed New York and below was the experience.
Officer: hello
Me : hello
Officer: what brings u to the states today?
Me: vacation and to have my baby.
Officer: Any documentation?
Me: Yes. ( was a bit confused as to which document to present. Eventually presented my notification of travel plans letter to the embassy and my appointment confirmation with Mihs).
Officer: have u paid yet?
Me: No. They don't receive payment upfront.
Officer: How much do you have?
Me: 10k
Officer: how long does the family intend staying?
Me : about 3 months.
Officer: ok . Stamps us in for 6 months. All this lasted 2mins or less.
We go pick our luggage and the guy that was supposed to check our stuff just looked at me for some seconds ( more like a psychologist) and said 'you can go' .No secondary inspection or counting of cash whatsoever.
The flight to phx was just on time. Thanks to everyone here for all info and opinion shared.
My 2 kobo grin Cheers!

Does this mean I don't have to renew my visa that expires in February before I leave in January?
You are under no obligation to renew your visa in jan if travelling in feb. What matters is that you enter US before your visa expires. Thereafter, it is how long u are granted entry (@ POE) that will determine how long you are entitled to spend in the US. Hope this helps.

Yaaay.... Newbiee here who has read from page 1 - 159. The good work is commendable. I am mihs bound and will be arriving in dec(first week to be precise). Looking to get a one bedroom suite ( not studio) because I am travelling with my mom and son. Sorted everything (I think), but for accomodation. Could do with any info from anyone who is undecided yet as per accomodation or any recommendation from previous / present mihs mommas. Thancheew
