A media consultant, Mr. ThankGod Ntaku has called on Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu to site the proposed Abia State University of Science and Technology in Ukwa land.

ABN TV reports reports governor Ikpeazu had, through his Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, disclosed the approval of the inauguration of an exploratory committee on the setting up of a University of Science and Technology in Aba to be headed by Prof Anya O Anya.

Speaking to our correspondent, Ntaku, a prominent Ukwa son, commended the idea of a University of Science and Technology in Abia, said it smacked of insensitivity for the governor to approve that such a University be sited at Aba with its commercial activities and concomitant noise that is very unfavorable to learning.

Ntaku emphasized the need to site institutions of higher learning at locations that are far from the hustle and bustle of cities, pointing out that the founding fathers of this country knew what they did in the sixties when they chose remote places like Nsukka, Ife, Zaria for Universities.

He added that public institutions are not supposed to be clustered in particular places in the interest of the overall development of the state.
