The self-acclaimed ‘Angel’ on earth and general overseer of International Godsway church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, says popular pastors including Chris Oyakhilome, Benny Hinn, Alph Lukau and Prophet TB Joshua are his children “in terms of Spiritual aspect.” Bishop Obinim made this comment at his church in Ghana recently. The Ghanaian Pastor boldly stated that he respects the pastors in question but were nowhere closed to him when it comes to spiritual aspect. His words: “I respect Pastor Chris, TB Joshua, Benny Hinn, and the other prophets but in terms of the Spiritual aspect, they are my children,” he said. “They are my children. Go and ask them, they know me spiritually. Talking about spiritual ways, they know me. “Benny Hinn is a healer, he can heal you; Benny Hinn is a preacher, he can preach, and deliver you but in terms of spiritual ways, he’s nowhere close to me,” Bishop Obinim stated. Speaking further, the Ghanaian Bishop said when he places a curse on someone, no one can lift it. Former Governor of Abia State and Senator-elect, Abia North Senatorial District, Dr. Orji Kalu, has urged Nigerians to embrace peace and unity in the spirit of Easter celebration. According to Kalu, Christians should use the special season to offer prayers for the country. In a statement issued by his media office, the former governor called on Nigerians to live their lives based on the teachings of the Holy Bible. He said, “I join the Christian community across the globe to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. “As Christians, we are expected to follow the doctrine of Christianity as enshrined in the Holy Bible. “We must emulate the life of Jesus Christ in all our pursuits in order to build a decent society. ” The Easter season is for self appraisal and sober reflection in the service of God and mankind. “Let us embrace piety, forgiveness, brotherhood and togetherness in our endeavours. “Despite the diversity of Nigeria, we must tolerate people of all religious faiths. “Nigeria’s multi-religious nature should not be used as a weapon for discord rather as an opportunity to strengthen relationships across religious divides. “As we celebrate this year’s Easter, we must continue to reflect the life of Jesus Christ in our activities”. While wishing the Christian community a hitch free Easter celebration, Kalu stressed that Nigeria can only be great if there is peaceful co-existence among people of different religious backgrounds. In what appears to be the final looting of funds meant for constituency projects, some members of the National Assembly have allegedly perfected plans to abandon some projects they have been fully mobilised to execute, a source in Ministry of Power, Works and Housing says. The source who pleaded anonymity said members of the Nigerian Senate, especially those from the Southern Nigeria are worst hit in this desperate looting agenda. The source alleged that while some of the lawmakers have formed an unholy alliance with the Minister of Finance, Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed who is also not sure of being re-appointed into the Federal Executive Council to complete some of these projects through the Executive, others have shown lack of concern but perfecting last minute plans to go with the funds mapped out for such constituency projects. In the category of those who are less concerned according to the source are the Senator representing Abia North, Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa, the Anambra Central Senator, Chief Victor Umeh and others. The source fingered some Senators from the North West and North East to be using their closeness to minister of Finance to complete some of their zonal interventions while the money meant for them as constituency projects lies in their pockets. The source also wondered why the Minister of Finance will abandon so many of the projects initiated by the Federal government to instead finance projects that the Senators have been fully mobilised to execute for their constituents. Meanwhile, efforts to reach the Spokesperson of the Senate, Sen. Sabi Abdullahi proved abortive.

The residents of Nkata Ibeku in Umuahia North, the Abia state capital have frowned at the inability of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to give them power supply in the past eight months, saying power distribution company making their lives miserable. A member of the community, Emeka Kanu Orji in a chat with ABN TV on Thursday wondered why the EEDC is unable to fix the power situation in the area which he said is birthed as a result of a faulty transformer. He said since September 2018, the EEDC through their office in Finbarrs road has deliberately ignored the appeal of the residents to look into their power supply issue and bring a solution through the provision of a new transformer, accusing them of insensitivity to the plight of the residents. Mr. Orji lamented that residents of the area and its environs have been subjected to undue hardship and economic difficulties by the activities of power distribution company. "We have resorted to generating our own power since September last year. Of course the cost of fuel is known to everybody. You cook, you cannot use your refrigerator at home. They are making life miserable for those living around that area" he said. SOURCE: https://www.abnews247.com/2019/04/eedc-making-our-lives-miserable-umuahia-residents-cry-out/

He is a forthright person and whatever he has with Obasanjo, only Obasanjo knows why he dragged him to EFCC. I respect Kalu, fine gentleman with integrity" he said. A former media aide to T.A Orji, the Senator representing Abia Central, Don Obinna Norman has thanked the Abia state government and his former boss for sending him to Afara prison. He said the experience exposed him to hidden things in the society, adding that they have made his job a lot easier. Speaking with newsmen shortly after he was released from Afara prison in Abia State, he said he was locked up in prison to stop him from speaking during the electioneering period in the state. He described Ikpeazu led government in the state as a monumental disaster that shouldn't be called a government. "They don't want me to talk. That's why they put me in prison. When you have an insidious government, a government that looks condescendingly on people what do you expect? I was not surprised when I heard Okezie Ikpeazu was declared winner because election in Abia State has always been rigged but this time around the result was written. "If election was conducted in Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu will come third because he is a failure. His government is a monumental disaster that shouldn't be called government" he said. The journalist said he has nothing to fear for again, saying he loves Afara prison and not afraid of going back. He said during his stay in the prison, he preached the message of freedom to the inmates where he had many converts. He said he is loved and respected more than the governor and his accuser and his former employer, Sen. T.A Orji. He said he feels sorry for the Abia Central Senator, describing him as an old school politician who allowed himself to be deceived by what he called a charge-and-bail lawyer, Barr. ACB Agbazuere. He vowed to follow the case to the later in order to teach his accusers how to respect a citizen. Norman said by the virtue of his job as a journalist, he is constitutionally empowered to hold the government accountable to the public. He faulted his imprisonment, saying it was done in error. Norman expressed surprise that the Magistrate who ordered his remand had earlier said his court lacks jurisdiction over the matter, wondering why his remand was ordered. He said the underhand deals some policemen attempted to carry out in his case has revealed to him that 85% of those in Afara prison are innocent. He threatened to write what he called a strong-worded petition to the NJC and NBA on how the Abia state Chief judge and other judges have been compromised, including an unserious state police command. The MD REALM Newspaper berated the Abia state Nigeria Union of Journalists for not doing enough to secure his release while in prison. The APC candidate for Isialangwa South state constituency in the just concluded state Assembly election, Chief Nnaemeka Emmanuel Otagburuagu has approach the election petition tribunal sitting in Abia state over alleged rigging by the PDP candidate and the Speaker, Abia state House of Assembly, Hon. Chikwendu Enyinnaya Kalu. In a chat with ABN TV on Thursday, a chieftain of APC in the state, Mr. Ugochukwu Ogbonna accused INEC of allowing the Speaker and his party the PDP to write results of the election, saying it is not a reflection of the people’s wish. He said his party APC has evidence that will finally drive the Speaker out of office. “I want to bring to your notice that this man called Mr. Chikwendu Kalu lied on oath. Draw back a little to 2014/2015, he told INEC, by extension he told the whole world that he had no case with anybody, when he was asked if he has been sentenced before", he lied. He said no and today, he is telling the whole world, he is telling INEC that he has been sentenced. And we are now asking how can you come and be telling us that there was nothing like that in 2015, you were not under duress, you came with your sound mind”. Mr. Ogbonna accused the Speaker of having been convicted and debarred by legal practitioners’ legal committee of Nigerian Bar Association as a lawyer over corruption related matter. He insisted that the disciplinary action on the Speaker persists contrary to his claim that a court of competent jurisdiction has voided the disciplinary action. He said the alleged perjury against the Speaker is one of the grounds for which Chief Otagburuagu is seeking to reclaim what he called “his mandate” at the tribunal. He said the Speaker’s claim that his debarment has been reversed by the State’s High court sitting in Umuahia couldn’t have been true, describing it as baseless. He claimed that Abia state high court has no jurisdiction to sit on an appeal from the disciplinary committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). He said it is only the Supreme court that has the jurisdiction to set aside any disciplinary action imposed on any member by the NBA disciplinary committee, insisting that the Speaker is no more a lawyer. The APC chieftain said the Speaker was not qualified to stand for election into the state House of Assembly, having allegedly lied under an oath in 2014. He expressed confidence in the election petition tribunal sitting in the state, saying they will restore chief Otagburuagu’s mandate which he said people of Isialangwa South constituency gave him. Mr. Ogbonna appealed to the people of Isialangwa South to remain calm as measures are being taken to recover their mandate. BY ALEX ENEMANNA Ever since the video of little Success Adegor, a primary 3 pupil of Okotie Eboh Primary School 1, Sapele Delta state broke the internet, our real nature, the very thing that defines us as a nation and of course our stark unclothedness has been advertised to the global community for a free view bazaar. The seven-year-old pupil was said to have been sent home from school for her parents' inability to pay her examination levy. Little Success was visibly green with anger, full of fury, overwhelmed in frustration as she expressed in her words and gesticulations but not without unassailable determination, stone hard resilience, defined focus and a contagious optimism. She was certain she will pay as soon as her parents make the money available to her. Yet in the face of a brazen harassment, threat and intimidation, in the face of a premeditated humiliation of her very human dignity, ridicule of her social status and mockery of her family and ancestral background, her eye, spirit and soul was in the classroom; she wants to join her mates to acquire education for a brighter future. She never retreated nor surrendered, she defied all odds, like a sportsman determined to lift the trophy, she moved, surged on with all the energy she could muster in her very innocent heart. Thanks to the internet and the social media that brought to fore Success’ story that has since turned a success story through the overflowing milk of kindness of the good people of Nigeria and foreigners alike. The story of success again gave life to the already known fact that there is no Islam or Christianity, North or South in the Nigeria project but a people united in one common goal and love for one another. There was no Christian or Islamic help, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo or Tiv assistance in the collection of the succour that has come the way of little Success ever since she was embarrassed into success. She and her family saw Nigerians who were touched by the agony of an angry school girl. Paradoxically, beyond the hoopla, razzmatazz and frenzy the story of little Success has generated, I can bet my integrity that not a lot would be done by those in authority to address the ranting of an aggrieved Sapele girl. Apart from the pseudo and face-saving suspension of the Headmistress of Okotie Eboh Primary School 1, Mrs. Vero Igbigwe and the hasty renovation of the school, nothing else will be done to rejig a system that has abysmally failed to serve the purpose for which it was created. Instructively, Success' case has been there as far back as one can remember. It is an old, obsolete and archaic practice that has consistently set the pace in counter productivity yet my dear country still adopts sending pupils home in this era as a measure to deal with them for the inability of their parents to pay their fees. Banking on Malcolm - X's saying that “Education is our passport to the future, for, tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today” even as a little boy who was determined to raise my head above waters through the pursuit of education, I was constantly reminded that my razor sharp zeal was not enough to keep me in the classroom without a financial backing. This wouldn't have formed a discourse if it was clearly stated that primary education was/is not free. Like the Sapele school, the age long deceit that education is free in public primary schools started from my most humble and mini forest Ebeyi Nvosi Community school in Abia State over two decades ago. I was almost a regular customer to premature school dismissal on the account of non payment, a situation that continued till I eventually found myself in the secondary school. As a palliative measure, I had to wake up 4:30am every day to cover several kilometers in bicycle from Ebeyi in Isiala Ngwa South to Nbawsi in Isiala Ngwa North where I purchased breads for resale. While I reserve this story for another day, it is pertinent to state that as it was from the beginning, so has it remained. These school managers usually hide under the veneer of one potato and yam levy or the other to extort parent with reckless abandon, milk them dry while still thumbing their chest that "education is free for every Nigerian child". This is happening under the full glare, supervision and co-ordination of the government, who in this case has embarked on an aggressive scavange for a scapegoat in a desperate efforts to save its face. Could poor head teacher Mrs. Vero Igbigwe have acted solely on her own? To say that the Nigerian child is the most disadvantaged, cheated and depraved among his equals across the world is to put it mildly. The signs are visible for everyone to see. Addressing the Northern Nigerian Traditional Rulers Conference on Out-of-School Children pre-conference briefing in Abuja in October 2018, the Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Ahmed Boboyi, stated that the population of out-of-school children in Nigeria has risen from 10.5 million to 13.2 million, the highest in the world. According to the United Nations, out-of-school children are children who are yet to be enrolled in any formal education excluding pre-primary education. What this implies is that Nigeria is housing a scandalous 13.2 million Success Adegors who are in a certain street, village, community or hamlet boiling in anger and frustration without anyone hearing their voices or listening to them even as their faith in their fatherland continues to dwindle with a speed jet. There is no right-thinking Nigerian that will not be startled by the outrageous figure of Success Adegors we have succeeded in nursing and raising amid concerns of our precarious security situation. What could happen between now and 10 years to come is better imagined. UNICEF said the reason why more children were out of school, especially in the North is “rooted in socio-cultural and economic environment barriers, cost of education, poverty and negative perceptions to formal education .” These are the children we see loiter the streets day and night. While some have resorted to hawking banana, groundnut, pure water, akamu, moi-moi, bread and beans, some have become permanent secretaries in one virtual bet centre or the other, hoping and praying that fortune (that may never come) smiles at them. How they eventually become the terrors of our day and horrors of our night shouldn't be a surprise to anyone by the way. How they become movers and shakers of internet fraud industry becomes traceable. How they become merchants of hard drugs and other high profile crimes becomes what we already know. We have shown a large scale unfaithfulness by the number of malnourished children we are currently incubating as a nation. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in 2018 raised alarm that 17 million Nigerian children are stunted due to severe acute malnutrition (SAM). What are we doing the address this? In the face of the growing sexual abuse, pedophilia, exploitation and harassment against the Nigerian child, how have we lifted a finger in helping them? In the face of physical torture, mindless aggression and battery, how much do we do to protect them? In the face of emotional abuse, subjugation and suppression, how much efforts do we put in giving them a shoulder? In the face of harmful cultural practices, obnoxious religious rituals and other inhuman treatments, have we done enough to amplify their voices? Whatever we make of our children today is what we'll reap of them tomorrow. If we play ostrich to the myriads of physical, emotional and psychological burdens heaped on the average Nigerian child, when the result finally manifests, we'll all be affected. Like little Success Adegor, we must rally round the rest of the 13.2 million children in her shoe. We must look at our immediate environment and give a child a pen and a paper for our collective good. It it not enough to wave the flag of "me, myself and I" in utter selfishness from the comfort of our fenced houses, tinted cars and heavily secured workplaces. We must stretch a helping hand to one child. We must nourish a child in our immediate environment and give him a hope to live. The story of Success is also a big for the slay queens and kings out there to rise above their limitations, conquer fear, threat and intimidation. We must not be the architects of our own reason for failure. Success was in a face to face confrontation with limitation but she was determined to soar. Government at all levels must rise above politicking and deceit. The rot in our educational system can conveniently make it to the Guinness book of records. If we have succeeded in lifting the trophy as the headquarters of abject poverty in the world, what else is beyond us? We are a nation without shame and have learned nothing from the anger of a seven-year-old baby. Until proactive measures are taken to make education affordable for all at all levels, make life more meaningful and liveable for all Nigerians, our journey to Eldorado will continue to have a comfortable abode in the figment of our imagination. A chieftain of APC, Chief Ndukwe Iko has stated that the election of the former governor of Abia state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu into the Nigerian Senate will amplify the voice of the Igbo Nation in the Nigeria project. He made this known recently in an interview with newsmen in Abia State. He said the struggle to elect Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu into the senate started on the platform of PPA in 2011, adding that Kalu has a large range of connection within and outside Nigeria. “We started this struggle since 2011 with the Progressives Peoples Alliance. We couldn’t have been persistently struggling for Kalu to go to the senate without a reason. “We knew from the beginning that if Kalu goes to the senate, Igbos will have stronger voice. There is no politician in Nigeria today, East, West, North and South that can muster the same political clout in terms of connection both within and outside Nigeria like Kalu and that is Why we are so proud of him and want him to be there. It will even be for the benefit of Nigeria because in business, political world, he will be there for you” he said.
