Sports / Willian Agrees Arsenal’s £100k-a-week, Three-year Deal by Mich04: 1:42pm On Aug 06, 2020
Willian has agreed a three-year contract at Arsenal worth around £100,000-a-week, with the move expected to be announced later this month, according to reports.

The 31-year-old had been in talks over a new contract at Chelsea but will end his seven-year association with the club after they were not prepared to offer him the terms he wanted.

Blues head coach Frank Lampard wanted Willian to stay and has been pushing the club to find a breakthrough in negotiations, which have been deadlocked for months.

However, Lampard has failed to persuade the Chelsea hierarchy to sort a new contract for Willian and Mikel Arteta has stepped in to secure the midfielder, who won two league titles and the Europa League at Chelsea, according to ESPN.

Willian’s agent Kia Joorabchian claimed last week his client had five clubs interested in signing him, including two in the Premier League.

Arsenal’s FA Cup final victory over Chelsea last weekend — which Willian missed due to an Achilles injury — means they can at least offer Europa League football next season.

Arteta is set for a busy summer as he looks to shape his squad and Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes is also in his sights. The 22-year-old is also keen on a move to Arsenal, though Everton and Napoli are interested too. The player will make a decision on his future at the weekend.

Sports / Cristiano Ronaldo Comes Third On The List Of 10 Most Lethal Striker; Messi ? by Mich04: 12:15pm On Aug 06, 2020
Barcelona star footballer, Lionel Messi misses out on the 2020 list of most clinical strikers in European football compiled by Sun football.

A striker’s lethal level is measured by the number of goals he scores in relation to the minutes spent on the pitch.

Messi’s rival, Cristiano Ronaldo came third in the rankings behind unknown strikers Luis Muriel of Atalanta and Sampdoria star Federico Bonazzoli.

Luis Muriel has scored a goal every 61 minutes, netting eight times in 2020

Sampdoria star Federico Bonazzoli has scored five times, as it takes him just 77 minutes to score.

Ronaldo comes in third having scored every 81 minutes even though he scored 21 times this season.

Borussia Dortmund goal machine Erling Haaland follows Ronaldo on the list with a goal every 81 minutes.

Sports / Arsenal Submit £100,000-a-week Three-year Deal To Willian by Mich04: 5:31pm On Aug 05, 2020
Arsenal have submitted a formal three-year contract offer to Willian, edging them to the front of the race to sign the Brazilian forward.

The 31-year-old will be a free agent once Chelsea’s Champions League campaign concludes this month after rejecting the chance to sign a new two-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Joining Mikel Arteta’s rejuvenated side and the chance to work with fellow Brazilian Edu are the reasons Arsenal are favourites to secure Willian’s signature. The Gunners have made a formal three-year contract offer to Willian, still some way short of the terms offered by Barcelona and Inter Miami.

Sky Sports say Arsenal are now at the front of the queue to land the Brazilian.

The Gunners are understood to have offered him a deal which runs until 2023.

The contract offer submitted by Arsenal would reportedly see him earn over £100,000-a-week

Question: is this the signing Arsenal need?

Sports / Manchester City Agree £41m Deal With Bournemouth For Nathan Ake by Mich04: 12:07pm On Jul 30, 2020
Manchester City have had a £41m offer for defender Nathan Ake accepted by Bournemouth, according to report from Sky Sports.

Manchester City have been in talks with Bournemouth over the Netherlands centre-back before the end of the Premier League season, but confirmation of Bournemouth’s relegation to the Championship on Sunday all but confirmed that the 25-year-old would depart this summer.

Nathan Ake joined Bournemouth from Chelsea for a club-record fee of £20m in 2017 and had been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge, but Manchester City appear to be in pole position to sign the defender.

Nathan Ake has been impressive so far for Bournemouth this season but his lone performance wasn’t enough to keep The Cherries in the premier league.

Sports / Manchester United: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Eyes £49m Swoop For 23-year-old Star by Mich04: 11:37am On Jul 30, 2020
Manchester United are reported to be eyeing a £49m move for top-rated Ajax star Donny van de Beek after being priced out of a move for Jack Grealish due to Aston Villa premier league stay, according to the Express.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer as he looks to further strengthen his squad to challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for major honours next season.

A new attacking midfielder is reportedly a priority and Manchester United have been strongly linked with a swoop for Grealish in recent months after watching the 24-year-old play a starring role in Aston Villa’s fight against relegation.

However, after securing their top flight status for another year on the final day of the season, Villa are under no pressure to sell their captain on the cheap and the Express suggests it will take £75m to persuade them to cash-in.

Manchester United aren’t prepared to match that valuation and the newspaper says Solskjaer could now walk away from the Grealish deal and turn his attention to securing a move for van de Beek instead.

The 23-year-old has also been linked with a switch to Old Trafford and Ajax chief Edwin van der Sar recently confirmed Manchester United and Real Madrid had shown a keen interest in van de Beek ahead of the summer window.

Van der Sar also confirmed that Ajax agreed last year to let some key players such as van de Beek leave this summer but he insists they won’t sell their star assets on the cheap. The former United goalkeeper is quoted by the Express as saying recently:

“It’s clear that clubs like Real Madrid and are Manchester United are showing interest in Donny van de Beek.”

“Last year, we made verbal agreements with Onana, Tagliafico and Van de Beek to stay another season, and then we look to help each other and find the next step in their careers. Nothing has changed,”

“There won’t be a 50 per cent discount. The clubs can forget about that.”

The Express claims that Ajax will demand around £49m for van de Beek this summer and it looks like United have a clear run at his signature after Madrid dropped out of the race to sign the midfielder.

Van de Beek has developed into one of the most exciting players in Dutch football since coming through the Ajax youth ranks and he provided 10 goals and 11 assists in 37 games to help his club retain the league title this season.

The Holland international would add another creative edge to the Manchester United attack and help lighten the load on Bruno Fernandes so I think he’d be an excellent signing if Solskjaer decides to push forward with a deal.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS? WHO WOULD YOU PICK VAN DE BEEK OR JACK GREALISH?

Sports / ‘arsenal Move Would Be Perfect For Wilfried Zaha’ – Ex Teammate Claims by Mich04: 5:10pm On Jul 28, 2020
Arsenal would be the perfect club for Wilfried Zaha, according to his former Crystal Palace team-mate Glenn Murray, who is surprised the Gunners did not sign the winger last year.

Palace boss Roy Hodgson confirmed on Sunday that Zaha wants to leave the Eagles this summer.

Arsenal was linked with the Ivory Coast star last year but instead chose to sign his international team-mate Nicolas Pepe.

Brighton striker Murray believes the time has come for Zaha to move on and says he would expect him to stay in London.

“Palace fans aren’t going to thank me for saying this but yeah, I think he needs to go, I think he needs to flourish,” Murray told talkSPORT.

“I was really surprised that Arsenal didn’t go for him last year and decided to go for Nicolas Pepe.

“I think staying in London would be good for him as well, he’s a real London boy and I just think he would have been the perfect fit [at Arsenal].

“I feel as though he probably would have been a slightly cheaper option and an option that knows the league very well.

“It baffled me why they didn’t go for him.”

Zaha left Palace before to join Manchester United in 2013 but Murray said the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson prevented him from succeeding at Old Trafford.

“When he first joined Manchester United, unfortunately for him he joined at a transitional time in the club’s history,” Murray added.

“Obviously Sir Alex signed him, loaned him back and then at the end of the season Sir Alex unfortunately retired and [David] Moyes took over.

“I think that was really bad timing for Wilfried because I believe if Sir Alex had still been in charge he would have been one of the best players out there now.”

Following Palace’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham on Sunday, Hodgson admitted it was sad Zaha wants to leave.

“It obviously affected him because his form in the last few weeks has really been quite poor considering what he is capable of doing,” Hodgson said.

“It’s a dilemma for the club and a dilemma for him if he is so set on leaving.

“If he feels he just does not want to be with us any more, that would be sad.

“We still like him very much; we can’t make him like us. This is a situation that only he and the club can sort out. I don’t have an answer.”

Question: Do you think Zaha will perform better than Pepe if Arsenal buy him?

Sports / Arsenal Meet With Kia Joorabchian In Lisbon To Sign Next Cristiano Ronaldo by Mich04: 11:36am On Jul 28, 2020
Joelson Fernandes may be joining Arsenal this summer with Arsenal directors expected in Lisbon to meet with Kia Joorabchian early this week to negotiate a potential transfer for the Sporting CP winger

Arsenal are looking to strike a deal with Sporting CP to sign Joelson Fernandes from Sporting with the help of agent Kia Joorabchian.

Joelson’s representative is a known Arsenal fan and he is at the heart of a potential deal between the two clubs.

The 17-year-old winger is highly rated across Europe and seen as the ‘next Cristiano Ronaldo’ at Sporting.

Arsenal directors are now attempting to lure Joelson to English football, having travelled to Portugal early this week.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola say the Gunners chiefs are expected in Lisbon to negotiate with Sporting, accompanied by Joorabchian.

The agent has a very good relationship with the Arsenal board, having helped the club sign David Luiz from Chelsea last summer.

Arsenal are said to be willing to trigger the attacker’s release clause, despite their limited transfer budget.

Sporting would have their hands tied should Arsenal meet the £40m fee.

Barcelona and Juventus are tracking Joelson too, so Mikel Arteta’s side are moving quickly following the completion of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

Arsenal could still earn themselves Europa League football next term and some extra funds too if they beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday (5.30pm).

Joelson has a very bright future ahead of him although he has very limited first-team experience.

The teenager played just 63 minutes for Sporting’s senior side this season, but some of Europe’s top clubs clearly believe he is worth investing in.

Sports / Kai Havertz Hopes To Complete Chelsea Switch By Next Week by Mich04: 6:12pm On Jul 27, 2020
Kai Havertz is pressing the run button for Bayer Leverkusen to agree a deal with Chelsea before the Bundesliga side’s Europa League match against Rangers next week.
According to Sky sports’ Kaveh Solhekol, Havertz wants the deal over the link by next week.

Havertz wants to move to Chelsea and work under Frank Lampard and only an agreement about the transfer fee is holding up the deal.

Leverkusen value Havertz at £90m but all parties are hopeful a £70m deal, plus add-ons, can be done.

Chelsea sealing the Champions League spot with the victory against Wolves gives Lampard more money to spend having signed Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

Havertz is back in training with Leverkusen as they prepare for their Europa League game against Rangers a week on Thursday, and the 21-year-old would like the deal completed before that game.

Sports / Barcelona Offer ‘coutinho-guendouzi’ Swap Deal Term To Arsenal by Mich04: 4:24pm On Jul 27, 2020
Barcelona are offering Arsenal the chance to sign Philippe Coutinho on a player-plus-cash swap deal that will see out of favor Arsenal man Matteo Guendouzi move to Camp Nou.

Barcelona are have told Arsenal that if they want Philippe Coutinho they need to table an offer of Matteo Guendouzi plus £45.5m.

Coutinho’s £142m dream move has gone up in flames and Nou Camp chiefs are looking at ways to shift him off the wage bill.

Barcelona are prepared to let the former Liverpool star move to the Emirates in a player-plus-cash deal, with Guendouzi going the other way, according to reports coming from French outlet Foot Mercato,

Guendouzi has fallen out with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta over a series of disciplinary incidents and his future at the club looks uncertain.

Arteta is a fan of Coutinho but trying to fund his £240,000-per-week wages as well as the transfer fee could prove a big stumbling block.

It was earlier reported that Arsenal made an offer for the player but He rejected initially as the club can’t afford his full wage. However, in the last few days he asked the North London club for more time to decide if he would accept a pay-cut.

Negotiations are said to be progressing well, but, if Coutinho cannot be included in a deal, Barca are offering midfielders Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal in exchange for Guendouzi instead.

The north Londoners are financially struggling after missing out on the Champions League for the fourth season in a row.

Sports / Timo Werner Takes Part In His First Chelsea Training Session (gallery) by Mich04: 2:41pm On Jul 27, 2020
Chelsea new signing Timo Werner registers his first training session a day after seeing his new teammates book place in Champions League
Timo Werner took part in his first training session as a Chelsea player on Monday morning.

The German striker, who has joined in a £53million deal from RB Leipzig, touched down in England over the weekend and was at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to watch his new club beat Wolves and secure Champions League football for next season.

Werner did not train with his new team-mates with Frank Lampard giving his squad a well-deserved day off following Sunday’s victory.

The 24-year-old was instead put through his paces alone at Cobham with plenty of stretching and fitness work before focusing on ball work, dribbling and some finishing exercises.

Chelsea will not be able to register Werner until next season but the striker can now train with the club and is following the same training programme as fellow new addition Hakim Ziyech, who’s signed from Ajax.

Securing Werner’s signature was seen as a big coup for Chelsea with the striker one of the most prolific scorers in Europe.

He netted 34 times for Leipzig in all competitions this season before deciding to leave for west London.

Sports / Barcelona Plan Big Overhauling As They Put ’12 Players’ Up For Sale by Mich04: 1:36pm On Jul 24, 2020
Barcelona ‘have placed almost half their squad up for possible sale’ with Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho ‘among 12 players they will listen to offers for this summer’ in a bid to raise funds for £100m-rated Lautaro Martinez
The La Liga club need to raise funds having been hit hard financially by the Covid-19 pandemic and money is also needed to buy Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

Barcelona will consider offers for a dozen players but acknowledge that not all of them will actually leave the club this summer and some could be loaned out, according to report from spanish based sport newspaper Marca.

As well as Dembele and Coutinho, the players are Ivan Rakitic, Neto, Nelson Semedo, Samuel Umtiti, Junior Firpo, Arturo Vidal, Martin Braithwaite, Carles Alena, Rafinha Alcantara and Jean-Clair Todibo.

Barcelona missed out on the La Liga title to rivals Real Madrid but have kept faith with manager Quique Setien ahead of the resumption of their Champions League campaign next month.

They play Napoli in the home second leg of their last-16 tie on August 8 with the scores level at 1-1 from the first leg played in February.

Barcelona are determined to sign Argentine striker Martinez but his release clause of around £100million is proving a stumbling block.

Trimming their squad of players who have either been out on loan – such as Coutinho – or are surplus to requirements could help raise some funds to get the deal done.

It is believed that Barcelona are confident that all the players will find new clubs with the exceptions of Dembele and Coutinho – who are the two most expensive players on the list.
