Popular African Magic’s Gbajumo Osere Presenter, Doyin Kukoyi on Easter Monday fulfilled one of her dreams as she unveiled a standard restaurant in the heart of Maryland, Lagos.

The multi-talented Nollywood actress, producer cum compere told The DailyBells that she had over the years been making frantic efforts trying to open a restaurant to complement her water business as well as providing sumptuous and affordable homemade food for the people in the environs.

According to Kukoyi, Alake’s Place is indeed a dream come true.

Alake’s place, she noted, is finally here to cater for people who want quality and affordable homemade food such as amala served with ewedu and gbegiri, tuwo, jollof rice and so on.

It was indeed glitz and fun at the grand opening as the atmosphere was soon turned into carnival like with the arrival of guests, well-wishers and customers in the environs who had been waiting patiently to have a feel of the Alake’s Place delicacies.

The Gbajumo Osere presenter did not however disappoint as majority of the people present at the opening who ate one type of food or the other could not hide their feelings as they testified to the quality of the food.

Among dignitaries that came around to show her her the needed love were some of her industry colleagues.

Interestingly, the duo of Mrs Toyin Afolayan, popularly known as Lola Idije and versatile actor, Kunle Afod stole the show of the day as they served people amala as well as tuwo.

Speaking on the epoch-making event, Kunle Afod, who confessed to The DailyBells in an interview that he really enjoyed the amala, gbegiri with ewedu which they called abula in his place in Ibadan said aside the food being delicious and of good quality, what made him more happy was the fact that Alake’s Place foods are prepared in a clean environment.

The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Chris Ezike, has detained three policemen attached to the Anti-Cultism Unit of the command for allegedly threatening to frame some journalists and collecting a N10,000 bribe from them on Sunday.

The CP, who confirmed the development on Tuesday, said he had given the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department seven days to conclude investigation into the matter.

Ezike said the policemen would face an orderly room trial if found culpable of the allegations.

He said, “The three policemen are in detention now. I have directed the DC SCIID to investigate the matter.

“I have equally directed him to reach out to the complainants, because as we speak, nobody has reported the incident apart from what we saw in the media.

“The Inspector General of Police is passionate about discipline and excellence. The allegation is corruption with impunity.”

It would be recalled that some policemen had arrested some journalists on Sunday in Owerri, namely Juachi Ochu, (www.profjay.com), Matthew Okache (www.voplink.com), Williams George (www.touristtv.com) and Trinity Jesam (detailing cross river) and demanded that they should part with the sum of N10,000 before getting their freedom.

The victims were members of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, OMPAN who attended the association’s convention in Owerri between March 30 and 31.

The DailyBells reports on Easter Sunday some OMPAN members who were on their way to board vehicle going back to their different destinations, were arrested by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad obstructed their movement.

Narrating their ordeal in the hands of the police, one of the victims had stated; "At about 10:30am on Sunday, on our way to the park to board a vehicle going to our different destinations, we were accosted by men of Special Anti-Robbery Squad. After checking our papers and every other documents, we were asked to follow them to their station (State CID) opposite IMO State Government house"

According to the arrested journalists, another thorough search was made on them and nothing incriminating was found.

NAFDAC Arraigns Universur D' Booster Manufacturer For Producing Fake Sex Enhancing Drugs

The National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control, (NAFDAC), has arraigned a top traditional medical practitioner, Mr. Olayemi Lateef, before a Federal High Court, Lagos, for allegedly producing fake and counterfeit sex enhancing drugs.

NAFDAC in a six-count charge, stated that the accused who is a leader of the Psychotherapists Association of Nigeria (PAN), was alleged to have on January 23, 2018, at 1, Kolaq Street, Denro Road, Kolaq Bus Stop, Ojodu Berger , Lagos, manufactured fake drugs to with : Libigal for men and Universur D' Booster.

The offence committed is said to be contrary to section 1(a) of the Counterfeit and Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act , Cap.C34,LFN,2004 and punishable under Section 3 (1) (a) of the same Act.

Count two of the charge reads: "that you Olayemi Lateef, Male, of Kolaq Street, Isasi-Akute, Ogun State, on or about January 23, 2018, at the same address within the jurisdiction of the court, was found in possession of fake drugs to with: Libigal for Men and Universur D' Booster contrary to section 1(a) of the Counterfeit and Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods( Miscellaneous Provisions) Act , Cap, C34, LFN 2004 punishable under Section 3(1)(a) of the same Act.

‘Mr. Adenekan Put His ‘Wee- Wee In My Wee- Wee,’ 4 Year-Old Raped Chrisland School Pupil Tells Court

At a Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria, yesterday evening, a 4-year old Chrisland Schools pupil (Name withheld) narrated before Justice Sybil Nwaka how she was defiled by a 47-year-old supervisor of the school, Adegboyega Adenekan.

The DailyBells Nigeria recalls that the pupil was two years and 11-months as at the time the alleged defilement occurred serially in 2016 at the Victoria Garden City (VGC) branch of the school.

The trial which was slated to begin at 2pm, due to other matters, did not start until 3.26pm as it ended at 5.53pm.

The pupil was led in evidence by counsel to the prosecution, Jide Boye, who asked her series of questions.

Before the child’s testimony, Justice Sybil Nwaka, had ordered that members of the public vacate the public gallery of the courtroom. However, she allowed journalists and lawyers to witness the testimony.

However, in order to make the atmosphere of the courtroom more conducive and child-friendly to the little girl, the judge rose from her bench to sit by a desk opposite her.

Engaging the Child in light talk, Justice Nwaka, who was smiling at the girl from time to time said: “I love your shoes, we are all your uncle and aunties here.

“Do you like the building? Do you know why you are here?”

Pupil said: “I’m here to talk about the bad things Mr Adenekan did to me.”

Horror! Woman Strangles Own Baby, Throws Corpse In Pit Toilet


A businesswoman in Sokoto, Rabiat Mustapha, 30, has been remanded in prison custody over alleged murder of her baby born out of wedlock.

Mustapha, who resides at Asada area of Sokoto, is facing a two-count of criminal conspiracy and preventing a child from being borne or causing it die after birth.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Abubakar Adamu, however, said the court lacked jurisdiction over the matter but ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody.

Women Wearing Make-Up Less Likely To Make Good Leaders, New Study Claims



Women wearing make-up are less likely to be considered strong leaders, according to a new study.

Research from Abertay University in Dundee found both men and women drew the same conclusions when looking at images of women wearing make-up, compared to those without.

Those taking part in an experiment were shown 16 pairs of images showing a woman made up for a night out and her make-up free. They were then asked to choose the better leader

Bad News for Alcohol Consumers, Smokers As Buhari Approves Tarrif Hike


President Muhammadu Buhari has approved an amendment to the excise duty rates for alcoholic beverages and tobacco with effect from Monday, June 4, 2018 the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has said.

In a statement in Abuja on Sunday, Adeosun said the President also granted a grace period of 90 days to manufacturers of the products before the commencement of the new duty regime.

She said the new excise duty rates would spread over a three-year period from 2018 to 2020 in order to moderate the impact on prices of the products.

The minister said the new duty regime followed all-inclusive stakeholder engagements by the Tariff Technical Committee of the Federal Ministry of Finance with key industry stakeholders.

According to her, the upward review of the excise duty rates for alcoholic beverages and tobacco was to raise the government’s fiscal revenues.

The Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, has denied calling for military intervention in the affairs of Nigeria.

Ekweremadu said this in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, when Governor Seriake Dickson hosted him and other African lawmakers attending the 74th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (Africa Region) Executive Committee to a dinner, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Uche Anichukwu.

He maintained that his comments on the floor of the Senate, though “unambiguously in defence of democracy,” were either being twisted or misconstrued by some persons.

While reinstating his respect for the Nigerian Armed Forces, Ekweremadu stated that comments made by lawmakers in the course of their duty should be situated within the proper context before any form of reaction.

He added that parliamentarians had a duty to continue to defend democracy in the country, making him to clearly caution fellow politicians against the mistakes of the past, which inevitably led to the abrupt end of the previous republics.
