TONY ELUMELU He started his career selling photocopiers door to door. On December 31st, 2025. New Year's Eve, he quietly spent $500 million to become the single largest shareholder of one of Africa's most powerful energy companies. No press conference. No announcement. Just the move. Seplat share price rose 80% in six months after he did it. This is the full story of Tony Elumelu, how a man from Jos, Plateau State, built a business empire stretching across 20 African countries, why serious investors are now comparing him to Warren Buffett, and what that comparison gets right and what it dangerously misses. Mr Gbaja has been involved in various scandals this year alone. Same as for gbaja student hostel in UNiLaG which was built to help student accommodation and still maintained with government money but students are paying 500k each for the 4 man room and 700k for 1 man room There are about 496 rooms, Do the maths sha Hostel that was fully funded by the government turn private business Hewww |
Beautifulday:I’m not sure you watched the content fully my brother, you will definitely understand the context of our video. You think a single African man trying to dominate the global Oil refining market doesn’t cause a concern? |
Another day to watch the video fully, Thank you |
ikorodureporta:Lol likeyyyy, Naija we Dey ![]() |
For me, I don’t think they need to remove the military drill. It can be done for a week then no need to change NYSC uniform too |
Jamesclooney:I don’t know about VDM earning $100k USD but he surely earns more $20k monthly from social media. He pulls crazy traffic |
Neoteny:You’re an irresponsible so called adult for referencing parents in this conversion, if you are a properly trained adult you won’t do that. Keep living in the limited and delusional mind Bro when creators are cashing out massively. Look at the attached picture, This is Steven ndukwu, a nigerian travel creator with 1.7 million views in last 28 days. His RPM is nothing less than $8 8 dollars x 1700 = $13,600 alone from YouTube Adsense Now combine this with Brand sponsorship, affiliate products, digital courses, Ads revenue from other platforms like Facebook, X, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram. So you think this guy isn’t comfortably earning over $20k monthly? LOL, Egbon enjoy yourself.
|
Revolva:I’m never saying it’s salary brother, my point is people are raking that in averagely in this same Nigeria.. There are good months, there are months not so good but trust me you’ll get to a level, you will be able to predict your average or minimum income as long as you’re consistently pushing contents. The guys I’m talking in context have over 3 channels bringing all this income. I’m saying this because I know unpopular people doing it and cashing that kind of money not to talk of a popular person like Shank. What do you guys now think about creators like Sabinus, SirBalo, Mcabraka, or sisi yemmie or Tayo aina or pastor Jerry Eze? My whole point is guys are earning this consistently in this same Nigeria |
Neoteny:Lol respectfully it’s not about age or when you have been on Nairaland, I have been on Nairaland too since 2010. This is not my first account btw.. You said you should be arguing with my parents? Nahh you aren’t in the same set with them sir, You should be arguing with my elder ones and young uncles brother.. So because you are older means you can be knowledgeable than me in a particular thing? Trust me I won’t ever say what I don’t know about brother.. Enjoyyy your self |
EponObi:So you think shank will be earning less than $5 per 1k views?? Loll I just know You guys argue blindly sha 3 things determine your rpm, Both the countries your content is been watched from, your niche and AVD of your video. Shank that his average video is 30 minutes won’t average $5 dollars for 1000 views.. For your information, Pastor Jerry Eze 1 billion Naira revenue is only from hiss YouTube watch ads sha not other means of monetization you talked about.. Even people on my cl doing storytelling AI videos with average 25 minutes AVD Dey rake over $15rpm Look at a travel creator like Tayo Aina, His rpm averages $10 for 1k views. If you are really a YouTuber, you won’t be arguing sha |
Neoteny:I’m stating the obvious I know sha, I’m not a dunce either. If you don’t know about something, you will keep hell sh*t and learn bruvvv. Is it not the same YouTube Tayo aina used to buy second passport for $250k, or the one Pastor Jerry dey earn billions from… Go to Twitter to see what boys are doing sha, you obviously don’t know anything. Afofun |
Neoteny:Lol just confidently saying rub*ish Even boys doing faceless channels on YouTube Dey cop pass $20k monthly.. LOL you people should stop feigning ignorance and learn.. Guys are making crazy money on YT |
EponObi:You obviously don’t know what you are saying Chief, you think it’s only Nigerians that watch his contents?? No matter how poor his YouTube is for example, his rpm can’t be less than $5. Imagine pulling 1 million views alone on a poor month.. not to talk of x, Facebook, IG ads, TikTok, etc. Perhaps that amount is even poor for a creator like him, because only him selling something on his social media can make him that comfortably (someone who has over 12 million followers across platform) Even someone I personally know doing faceless YouTube channels gross above $20k monthly not to thank of Shank. Is it not the same YouTube that even paid Pastor Jerry above 1 billion in a year? You people should stop feigning ignorance on NL |
Here we genuinely invested the debate whether Dangote is truly a monopolist or the West is just scared of what he can become? |
Have you watched the video? It’s very detailed, a lot of secrets to unravel |
Adblg0610:Well, truly you have have raised a solid point. It so needed at the moment to mitigate the effect of the hard economic reforms |
On April 7, 2026, the World Bank published a report on Nigeria's economy. Within 48 hours — it was deleted. Inside it? A recommendation to break what they called a "potential monopoly" by one Nigerian businessman. Days later, the World Bank president himself flew to Washington to meet that man face-to-face. His name is Aliko Dangote. And this is not a billionaire story. This is a story about oil, power, and a 50-year arrangement the West built — that one man from Kano is now threatening to dismantle. We investigate both sides: Is he Africa's greatest industrialist? A dangerous monopolist? Or can both be true at the same time? Drop your verdict in the comments. Tenses:Brrr This seems so sad actually |
Tenses:Brrrrr This seems so sad actually. |
Shame on Those of you pushing the conversations to the helms of tribalism. Truth be said, Mr Wahab and sanwolu government failed on waste management. Almost all busstop in Lagos is now a dump site, try to visit isolo road from Mushin Waste has taken Half of the road, your government is 7 years already and you’re still dropping excuses like this instead of admitting your failure. You have been here for the past 7 years that you should have been able to put up a solid waste management system, you are here doing Cho Cho Cho We pay waste bill every month, this Psp might only come once in 2 months. In fact this people can’t even give us a solid waste bin to store our waste.. It’s a failure for a city like Lagos fr. |
This is another day to watch our well detailed and researched video. |
I’ll say this is what I think cos this order is never a long lasting solution 1. Decentralize waste management sector to Local governments level 2. Give more efficient companies license to operate, companies who could hire more staffs and get more trucks (This is where the problem is cos people who are in charge of this are their leaders) 3. Employ a dedicated 24 hours clean up around Lagos roads, markets and city centers. Make them see Cotonou now our neighbors here beside us 4. Invest massively in the waste loading stations and recycling plants 5. Place waste bin every 5m or strategic places around the city centre, markets that gets picked up twice daily After all this, you can place a ban on indiscriminate waste dumping and littering with serious punishments for erring |
In this video We broke down How the Naira was founded in 1970s and What Nigeria looks like in the 1970s |
ElSudani:Yes you got that right but Crude Oil should have been a great blessing if our leaders didn’t steal us blind |
But what of those other 15 unpopular parties that is called in between APC and PDP in every presidential election results party? Why this law No apply to them? This is crazy ruling party politics with the law this people are just doing. They sha want to run unopposed |
Have you watched the video to really understand the history behind Naira’s downfall? |
Nigerians are just evil and corrupt people, an average Nigerian in power or higher position is ready to steal and destroy the person beside or under them. Majority of us so evil and corrupt as people, people who are already in confinement. Una Dey add more pain to their life. The day I knew about this was when one of my neighbour who got himself into prison back then called me suddenly and asked me to send airtime to him, that the prison wardens will sell the card and give them 50% of the money so they can use it to get better food within the camp. So if you send 2k card, the prison warden will take 1000 naira, they will give 1k. Nigeria fantastically corrupt people |
I once photographed retd. Major Gen. Ajani Ishola Williams, he is such a rugged and solid man even at that old age. He is not actually a fan of Tinubu government as some of you have been calling all of the awardees Tinubu loyalists
