PREPARING TO MEET THE LORD

1Thessalonians 4:13-18; John 14:1-3; I Corinthians 15:23,51-58; Luke 21:34-36.

We are living in the very last days of this age. The prophecies which are to be fuliled only in the last days are being fulfilled before our very eyes-Matthew 24:37-

9 1Timothy 4:1-3; 2 Timothy 3:15; 4:15; Acts 2:17,18; Acts 3:20,21; 2 Peter 3:

3,4. Believers who are caught up in the rapture will meet the Lord. Any one who is not ready to meet the Lord now puts himself in a terribly delicate and fearful

position.

1.THE FACT OF THE RAPTURE John 14:1-3; Luke 21:34-36; Ephesians5:27;1 Thessalonians 4:13-17.

a. By the Rapture of the Church, we mean the catching up of all true believers in Christ to meet the Lord in the air. We "SHALL BE CAUGHT UP IThessalonians 4:16,17.

rapture is the event that will take place when Christ comes for the saints (IThessalonians 4:13-17 whereas the Second Advent (or Second Coming) is the time Christ wil come with the saints (Zechariah 14:l-5; Jude 14; Revelation 19:l1-21) to the Earth.

At the Rapture, Christ does not appear visibly to those on the Earth but only comes in the air to resurrect the true saints who have died, change the

living saints and catch them up to meet the Lord in the air.

It will all happen "in the twinkling of an eye" (1 Corinthians 15:23,51-58;Philippians 3:20,21; I'Thessalonians 4:13-1 7).

II. ILLUSTRATIONS OF THE RAPTURE- Genesis 5:24; Hebrews 11:5; 2 Kings 2:11,12; Acts 1:9-11.

Just as Enoch and Elijah were taken up to heaven alive with out seeing (or going

through) death, so also the saints (believers) who are livng at the moment of the of the Rapture will be translated to meet the Lord in the air.

And just as Noah escaped the flood and lot escaped the judgement of fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, so the the saints living then will escape the Great Tribulation

All believers go through persecution (called tribulation) today (John 16 22, Acts 14:21,22, Romans 5:3-5, I Thessalonians 3 :3-5, 2 Timothy 3 10-12, Revelaton

2.9) BUT all believers will be caughtup before what is known in prophecy as the Great Tabulation or the time of Jacob's Trouble. Jeremiah 30.7, Luke 21:

34-36, 2 Peter 2:4-9, Revelation 3.10,11

The Great Tribulation is a time of wrath (I Thessalonians 1:9,10), Judgement

(Revelation 14 :7) indignation (Isaiah 26: 20,21) punishment (Isaiah 24:20,21,it is the hour of temptation (trial )- Revelation 3 :10, trouble (Jeremiah 30:7

destrution (Joel 1:15), and darkness (Joel 2:2).

This is during Daniel's seven tieth week - a period of seven years.

III. THE PURPOSE OF THE RAPTURE

1. To resurrect all the just and righteous people who have died-1 Thessalonians 4:13-16, ICorinthians 15 :21-23,51-58, Revelation 20:4-6.

2. To change the bodies of Iiving saınts (all who are saved by faith in Christ) from mortality to immortality I Corinthians 15: 51-58, Phlippian

3: 20,21,2 Corinthians 5:1-8.

3. To take all the sants out of this world before the Tribulation so that they can escape the Tribulaton-1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, Luke 21 34-36, 2

Thessalonians 2:1,7,8

4. To take the saints to himself John 14:1-3,1 Thessalonians 4: 17, Ephesians 5:27,2 Thessalonians 2:1

5. To gather all the saints together to partake of the marriage supper of the Lamb and to receive the reward for all they did Revelation 19: 1-1, 2

Corinthians 5 :8-10.

IV. THE TIME OF THE RAPTURE

Phlippians 3 20,21;I Thessal onians 4:1318, Titus 2 11-14

Are there remaining any signs sall to be fuliled beľore the Rapture? No! An assured and emphatic No!The Apostles and believers in the New Testament

were expecting the rapture to take place in their days Philippians 3:20,21;

Titus 2:13; I Thessalonians 4 16,17.

Note: We which are alive....unto the coming of the Lord" Christ's message is

BE READY. It could happen any time.

There are signs preceding the second advent of Christ. The Rapture is to occur before the second advent and many signs of the advent are already fulfilled! The rapture can take place any moment -anytime from now.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR PARTAKERS IN THE RAPTURE

1Thessalonians 4:16,17;1corinthians 15:23;2corinthians 5:17;Hebrews 12:14;Ephesians 5:23;1john3:1-3

At the rapture, every real Christian or true believer living righteously, walking in the light- that is ,all "in Christ" will be "caught up" to be with Christ.

"They that are Christ's " those in Christ or in other word church will be rapture. 1corinthians15:23:1thessalonians 4:16,17;Ephesians 5:27. The qualifications to go in the RAPTURE are:

1.to be saved and maintain a holy walk "in Christ" at the time of the RAPTURE or at the time of death as the case may be- 1john3:1-3;Hebrews 12:14;Luke 21:34-36.

2. Have supreme love for God - philippians 3:7:21; Titus 2:11-14.

3. Working the works of God - Genesis 19:12-17;John 4:35-38;John 9:1-4; revelation 22:12-17.

"Prepare to meet thy God"- Amos 4:12

" be ye steadfast, unmovable, " always abiding in Christ. 1Corinthians 15:58; Revelation 2:26;3:11.

EVENTS FOR THE CHURCH AFTER THE RAPTURE

2 Corinthians 5:1-10; Romans 14:10-12; I Corinthians 3:6-15; Revelation19:7,8

After the Rapture, believers will be brought into an examination before the Son of God. This is referred to as appearing before the judgement seat of Christ (2Corinthian 5:10). It is not a judgement that considers his salvation. The subject of consideration is not whether he is free from sin and worthy to stand before God or not (Romans 8:1; John 5:24; I John 4:17). As to the sin question, the promise of God to believers is "their sins and iniquities will I remember no more" (Hebrews 10:17). The aim of this judgement (or examination of the

believers' works) is to determine each believer's reward.

after this there will be the marriage super of the Lamb

A. THE JUDGEMENT SEAT OF CHRIST

1. The meaning of "judgement seat" 2 Corinthians 5:10; Romans 14:10.

The Greek word is "bema" (translated "judgement seat" meaning "reward seat"

2.The time of the "bema" (judgement or reward seat) of Christ. Luke14:12-14: I Corinthians 4:5;2 Timothy 4:8; Revelation 22:12.

the act of giving rewards to each member of the raptured Church will Take place between the rapture and the revelation of Christ to the earth.

Where will this take place? "In the air", in the Lord's presence, in the sphere of the "heavenlies (1 Thessalonians 4:17;2 Corinthians 5:1-.

3. The judge at the"bema" (reward seat) is Christ-2 Corinthians 5:10, John5:

22 Romans 14:10; Revelation 2:7,17,25-28, 3:12,21; Revelation 22,12-16.

Jesus Christ will be the Judge who will give rewards to believers according to

their works.

4.The result of the examination at the "bema" of Christ. I Corinthian 3:8-15.

Every believer's work shall be tested by FIRE; FIRE shall try every man's work of what sort it is. Some shall "suffer loss", that is loss of reward, others

will ""receive reward" (I Corinth ains 3:13-15).

REWARDS:

a. The overcomer's crown an "incorruptible crown'". I Corinthians 9:25.

b. The soulwinner's crown-"crown of rejoicing". 1 Thessalonians 2:19;Daniel 12-3.

c."Crown of life" for tried and triumphant saints. James 1:12.

d."crown of righteousness" for loving His appearance. 2 Timothy 4:8.

e. "Crown of glory" for feeding the flock of God. 1 Peter 5 :4, See also

Revelation 2:7,17,25-28;3:12,21; Revelation 22:12-16.

B. THE MARRIAGE OF THE LAMB

John 3:29; Romans 7:4; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:25-33; Revelation

19:7,8;21:1-22.

The marriage of the Lamb is an event that has particular reference to the

Church and takes place in heaven (Revelation 19.7-9,14) at a time between

the "bema (reward seat) of Christ and the second advent.

The time is short (I Corinthians 7:29-31). This is the time to prepare in personal inner holiness, to separate from the corrupt woridly ystem around

us and preach the gospel so as to help those who are not prepared to prepare for the great event.every believer ought to be busy inviting others into the kingdom. tell them of Jesus who came to save the lost that they may escape the time of terrible suffering coming ahead

Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Heaven

Heaven is the dwelling place of God and for those who go there a place of everlasting bliss.

Scripture implies three heavens since the Bible mentions the "third heaven" (2 Cor. 12:2). It is logical that a third heaven cannot exist without a first and second. Scripture does not describe specifically the first and second heaven and call them that. But, by looking at the Scriptures we can figure what is going on.

The first heaven refers to the atmospheric area of the fowl (Hosea 2:18) and clouds (Dan. 7:13). The second heaven is probably the area of the stars and planets (Gen. 1:14-18). It is probably, though not for certain, the abode of all supernatural angelic beings. The third heaven is the abode of the Triune God. Its location is unrevealed. (See Matt. 23:34-37, Luke 10:20, and Rev. 22:2, 20-27).
