I want to thank everyone here. I carefully went through the thread and it really helped me in my visa application. Thank you everyone. I really appreciate this thread.

Visitor's visa
Visa application: 23rd October
Biometrics: 31st October
Collection mail: 14th November

I used a sponsor and his company was showing inactive on the CAC's website.
I followed one format I saw here for writing a cover letter.
God did it for me.

A traveler's plan can change at any time, and staying 3 weeks instead of 10 days is not going to raise any eyebrows because this is not considered overstaying a visa.

What really matters is to make sure that you have enough money and accommodation evidence to back your planned stay.

I’ll advice that your stick to your time frame.
If you have been to the UK before maybe you can, but if this is your first time then you will have a lot of explanation to do to while you stayed the remaining weeks, they issued a visa base on what you told them and your financials supported it.
You might be asked for a return ticket when you meet the Clearance Officer at the Airport..
So stay your 10 days if you are a first timer and leave their country, only on emergency are you expected to extend your stay and since you planning of it ahead then that means you could eventually not keep to the rules guiding your visa. Thread carefully.

1. Can he use his sister who works in the UK as a sponsor or his friend who works in Nigeria
2. What advise can you give concerning his visa application to avoid a rejection

Sponsors is a double edged sword.

If he is someone upto the age of fending for himself, this will spell doom if he is not employed or employable or if he is employed and earning peanuts. The ECO will keep reverting to your own circumstances as an excuse to refuse you.

You will find problem if you don't impress the ECO about what will tie that applicant back to Nigeria like work etc

He will find problem if his sponsor is in another country like USA, Canada or Malaysia and not in the UK

He will also find problem if the sponsor is not a first degree relative

Please I have some questions
1. For someone that wants to apply for a visiting visa by october and doesn't have a sponsor, how will the person go about the proof of funds?

The person is being owned salary for 5 months now but will be paid by July. The arrears for the 7 months will amount up to about 2 million. How will the person go about the proof of funds factoring this
