WHY BAFEM MUST GO It is deeply troubling that a man who once served as Speaker of the House of Assembly and a serving honourable who represents Ekiti South Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives ( close to 8years ) has failed to provide effective and impactful leadership. Representation at this level should translate into visible development, strong advocacy, and meaningful benefits for the people. Unfortunately, the tenure of Rt. Hon. Olufemi Richard Bamisile (BAFEM) has left many communities questioning the value of their representation. BAFEM’s record raises serious concerns about his effectiveness. Having once served as Chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), one would expect significant improvement in road infrastructure within his own constituency. Instead, many communities in Ekiti East, including his own area,(OMUO-EKITI) continue to struggle with dilapidated roads and poor infrastructure. If meaningful progress could not be achieved in his immediate environment, it raises doubts about his ability to deliver broader development. Furthermore, communities such as Ekiti-EAST, Gbonyin, Emure, and other surrounding towns continue to experience limited federal presence and slow development despite having representation at the National Assembly. To make matters worse, parts of Ekiti East have reportedly endured years of persistent electricity blackout, leaving residents in prolonged darkness. Leadership must be measured by results, not title. The people of Ekiti South Federal Constituency II deserve representation that brings development, visibility, and real progress. For many constituents, the conclusion is clear: THE CONSTITUENCY NEEDS NEW LEADERSHIP THAT WILL TRULY SERVE THE PEOPLE AND DRIVE MEANINGFUL CHANGE. BAFEM MUST GO! BAFEM MUST GO!! BAFEM MUST GO!!!. SIGNED CONCERNED EKITI YOUTHS. (EKITI SOUTH FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY II)

Accountant-General of the Federation Blocks Transparency, Brazenly Violates the Freedom of Information Act. The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation has flagrantly violated the Freedom of Information Act, Cap F34, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2011, by deliberately refusing to disclose details of funds released to members of the National Assembly from Ekiti State for constituency projects. In recent months, claims have emerged from various quarters that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu significantly increased allocations to members of the National Assembly, ostensibly to deepen grassroots development and enhance democratic dividends. However, no tangible evidence of such increased funding or its impact has been observed across communities in Ekiti State, raising serious concerns about transparency and accountability. Disturbed by this opacity, a group of young, concerned, and civic-minded citizens of Ekiti State formally wrote to the Accountant-General of the Federation, requesting comprehensive details of funds disbursed and constituency projects executed for Ekiti State legislators under the Federal Government’s constituency project framework. The request was made pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, which imposes a clear legal obligation on public institutions to disclose such information within seven (7) working days or, at the very least, provide lawful reasons for any refusal. The team, led by Tosin Durodola Esq., alongside Olumide Akinbiyi Fasubaa and Olaoluwa Phillip Oguntoyobo communicated their request through the Law Office of Royal Standard Attorneys and addressed the request to the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation. The letter was duly received by the Office of the Accountant-General on 19 January 2026 and acknowledged by an officer of the office, one Usman Jibrin. Despite proper service and the unambiguous statutory duty imposed by law, the Accountant-General of the Federation has willfully ignored the request, neither releasing the requested information nor offering any justification for its non-disclosure. This deliberate silence amounts to a calculated obstruction of transparency, an affront to public accountability, and a brazen violation of the Freedom of Information Act. Consequently, and in furtherance of their commitment to transparent governance, the applicants have resolved to approach the Federal High Court to enforce their constitutional and statutory right to access public information. The action will be prosecuted by their counsel, Folafemi Adeyeye, an Abuja-based legal practitioner, alongside A. T. Durodola Esq., an Ekiti-based lawyer and good governance advocate. As at the time of filing this report, the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation has failed, refused, and neglected to respond to the lawful request, reinforcing growing concerns that critical public financial information is being deliberately shielded from citizens. |

Ekiti-Born Lawyer Condemns Ekiti Monarchs Killings, Decries Crime Upsurge in State An Abuja-based legal practitioner, Deji Morakinyo has condemned the recent murder of two Ekiti monarchs as a development which underscores the upsurge in criminal activities in Ekiti State. In a statement made available to the press Tuesday evening, the Ekiti-born legal practitioner described as "abominable" and "horrendous", the murder of two Ekiti traditional rulers by suspected kidnappers who had allegedly sought to abduct the Obas on their return journey from a security meeting which had been convened to address insecurity and rampant criminality across the state. "Words fail me. How did we descend to this? How did we arrive at this tragic pass? It is inconceivable and totally unacceptable that the land of my fathers-Ekiti, a state once renowned for its peaceful, serene and secure environment, has become an epicentre of criminality bedeviled with horrendous and abominable acts as these," he stated. "Yes, the peace we were renowned for had unfortunately departed for a while now, even so, this loathsome development is still a rude shock to me. The dastardly murder of two of our royal fathers in Ekiti-the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin which occurred Monday 29th January, and the brazen abduction of fifteen innocent schoolchildren and their teachers in Emure Ekiti on the same fateful day signposts a dark day in the annals of our history as a peace-loving state. "My heart goes out to the relatives and subjects of the slain monarchs, and to the Government and people of Ekiti State, during this period. "This is one such time when words alone will fail to convey any form of solidarity. Only swiftly administered justice can salve the heartache and grief that has enveloped the government and the governed in Ekiti State. "I hereby call on the Federal Government and law-enforcement agencies to leave no stone unturned in delivering justice to the slain monarchs and speedily rescuing the abducted schoolchildren." Calling on the Federal Government to give full support to the yearning of the states for a more effective form of policing, Morakinyo further stated, "It is time to provide the necessary infrastructure and resources for effective community policing which is the only way to curb this menace bestriding our land. Our community police need to be armed with the wherewithal to stem the tide of violence, crime and barbarity that threatens to overwhelm our lands like a tsunami from hell. "It is also crystal clear to the discerning that repeating a strategy and expecting different results is unwise, to say the least. It is time to confront the spectre of insecurity boldly and unflinchingly with effective strategy. State policing might well be the only solution. "I therefore join my voice to the strident call for effective community policing. No longer can we allow the fears of the political class to hinder our drive for peace and safety, no longer will we shrink from the enforcement of our right to dwell free from fear and terrors of the horde who have no respect for the sanctity of human life. Enough is enough."

More Transformational Strides Underway in 2024, Ekiti Commissioner Reassures Youth The Ekiti State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Adesola Gold Adedayo, has assured the youth that the government of Governor Biodun Oyebanji has put machinery on full throttle to deliver more democracy dividends to them in the New Year. Adedayo said more transformational programmmes are underway to be unveiled in the coming fiscal year that would disentangle the youth population from the shackles of joblessness, restiveness , neglect and poverty. In his new year's message released in Ado Ekiti, on Sunday, the Commissioner saluted the youth for making themselves available as pillar of support for the current administration. Adedayo commended the youth for refraining from vices that could trigger restiveness and social unrest capable of distracting and derailing governance in Ekiti, in spite of the multifarious social, political and economic challenges ravaging the nation. Going by the foregoing, the commissioner assured that Governor Oyebanji is incurably resolute to reciprocate the gesture by rolling out more empowerment and wealth-induced programmes that would bring more transformation to the youth. Having a retrospect of the 2023 vis-a-viz governance under Governor Oyebanji , Adedayo said the present administration had demonstrated enough commitment that signposted how youth-friendly the government was and its desire to put their issues at the front burner. Adedayo advised the youth and Ekiti in general to continually support the government and key into all the programmes being initiated to change the economic and infrastructural facets of the state. The Commissioner said: "Let me congratulate the intellectually sophistically and morally upright youth population of Ekiti for their unmatchable support for the government of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in 2023. This had helped in lubricating rough edges for good governance in our dear state. "You could all attest to the fact that Governor Oyebanji had demonstrated zeal and commitment to make the youth more relevant in the state. This began with the making of Youth Empowerment and Job Creation a distinct Pillar in his policy-thrust. "The Governor wasn't just demonstrating his youth-friendly posture and spirit on paper, he had started walking the talk with his cabinet replete with youth of Ekiti origin headhunted from within and outside the country to change the economic fortunes of our dear state for better. "Let me bring the assurances of Mr Governor that more landmark policies will be implemented to create relevance, wealth, inclusion, empowerment for our youth in the new year. "However, for these to be realizable, the youth must exhibit demonstrable posture and mien that suggest their readiness to serve as partners in progress to the government by shunning gangsterism, drug abuse, kidnapping, killings, cultism, drug peddling and other nefarious acts that can jeopardise their future. "On behalf of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, I congratulate all the youth for witnessing another new year and I reassure them that the government won't dash their hope or renege on the promises made to make their lives better and more transformed". Happy New Year

REJOINDER: AN OPEN LETTER TO THE HONOURABLE COMMISSIONER FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, EKITI STATE, HON. ADESOLA GOLD THE MAJORITY CHAPTER OF OSUN/OYO AXIS DEBUNK The Federation of Ekiti State Students’ Union is a students oriented organization that stands for the interest of all Ekiti State Students(home and abroad). The personal interest from different camp has been the majour crisis of the union, towards the upcoming transition of the union. It’s an aberration and total misuse of power by the Deputy Senate President to stylishly and beacon on the office of the commissioner for Youth Development in achieving her goal and publishing a cheap write up to say what the majority of Osun/Oyo axis never said, to win her personal interest. Comrade Ruth Ilori taken decision for Osun/Oyo axis without having the full backing of the majority of the institutions coming from the axis is an indiet on the name of Osun/Oyo axis and we strongly debunk her statement. We could recall that the National President announces at the congress that a softcopy document was sent to him by the Deputy senate president, who happened to be the constitutional axis coordinator. The document reads that the majority of the chapters president has endorse someone to be the axis electoral representative. At the congress, the representative of University of Ibadan stood up frainning that the name of their school was on that document which they never signed such document and to his best of knowledge, it’s in congress we normally nominate electoral coming from the axis and not through document. The representative from Esa-Oke also said it is at the congress here that we’ll nominate who represent the axis. We all have busy schedule but we left everything to make it to the congress, that someone can’t sit at their comfort zone and decide for our axis. Let the public know that the so called Deputy Senate President and all that signed this document were not at the congress. The congress supersede all and it is the congressmen that decide who represent their axis at the congress as stated in the constitution and not through a softcopy document. The choice of Osun/Oyo axis has already been made at the congress and it remains stand that Comrade Ojo Oluwatimilehin is the choice of the majority. The union has really got a better image and recognition from the state government through the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development of Ekiti State, kindly recall that it’s through his office we were able to get 20 bags of rice for Ekiti Students, even the congress that was done, it’s through him we were able to get fund to lodge some senators and members who came from far distance, the lighten of the hall and all, remember the roll the commissioner played in getting Ekiti bursary/Scholarship disbursement in just few months he has spent in office. We plead to our colleagues that we shouldn’t allow our personal interest cut-off the benefit the union is enjoying from the office and open door accessible policy. We urge the Deputy Senate President to stop bringing in the office of the Honorable commissioner for Youth Development into the union personal affairs to achieve their goal. Duly Signed; 1. Senator Ojogbede Precious Timileyin, FESSU University of Ibadan. Senator Ayilaran Tobi, FESSU OAUTHC ILE-IFE 3. FALADE Olasunkanmi, FESSU Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso 4. Prosper Aduragbemi Fasakin, FESSU University of Osun State 5. Senator Samuel Adebisi, FESSU Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke

Intergenerational Gaps; Building the Collapsed Bridge. Thoughts by Ayotomiwa Ayodele Intergenerational gaps refer to differences in beliefs, values, attitudes, and behaviors between different age groups. These are seeming to cause tension and conflict between individuals from different generations, particularly when it comes to issues like technology, politics, values, morals, work et, ethics, and social norms. While intergenerational gaps have always existed to some extent, they have become more pronounced in recent years due to rapid technological advancements and changing social and economic conditions. For example, younger generations tend to be more tech-savvy and comfortable with social media, while older generations may struggle to adapt to new technologies. Similarly, younger generations may have different views on issues like gender, race, and sexuality than their parents and grandparents. The older generation is referred to as the custodian of history and experience while the younger generation are seen as the ones with the energy, sadness, fire, and strength. I have been privileged to be around people from the older generation, and I see the impression and mindset they tend to have toward the younger generation, and of course, as a young person, I know and see the true yearnings of my generation and the ones behind us who have been tagged "THE WOKE or Gen- Z generation" The potential for conflict arises when these differences in beliefs and values clash, leading to misunderstandings, frustration, and resentment. These we tend to see around us these days. The older generation feels the younger ones are lazy, entitled, and inexperienced, and likes the younger generation holds reservations and silent anger towards the older generation, the group they believed mismanaged many social amenities that should be beneficial to them, burned many bridges, the frustration of being misunderstood, suppressed and more. However, it is important to acknowledge that bridging the intergenerational gaps can also provide an opportunity for learning and growth. By engaging in respectful dialogue and seeking to understand each other's perspectives, individuals from different generations can bridge the gap and work together towards a common goal, like the Yoruba would say "owo omode oto pepe, tagbalaba owo keregbe (this is to simply put that we need each other). "agbajo owo lafi nsoya" Truth is to see the country or world we all desire, all generations need to understand each other and work together, we need each other. Ultimately, the key to managing intergenerational gaps is to recognize that each generation has its own unique experiences and perspectives and that these differences should be valued and respected. Also, I think having these conversations will go a long way in bridging these gaps. The earlier we get on it, the better. By doing so, we can create a more inclusive and harmonious society that benefits everyone. Nigeria shall be great.!!

Effective Communication is so key to all aspects of human existence, on fact, we can say it is the next thing after life. All creatures on earth communicate either verbally or non-verbally. Most times we create gaps and give room for assumptions when our thoughts, intentions and views are not properly communicated either as an individual, group, government or entity. Communication is incredibly important in dealing with conflicts and misunderstandings. I tend to overthink things and have a vivid imagination but the ability to always keep the lines of communication open with the people I care about helps a lot. Sometimes, we react too quickly without giving others a chance to explain themselves, leading to unnecessary disagreements and avoidable grudges. We might even believe we're right when we're wrong due to a lack of communication. Often, we expect others to understand our feelings without communicating with them, which is not realistic. You have to know that many fights and disagreements in relationships stem from poor communication habits. While some might say someone around them talks too much, most actually value clear and honest explanations in the real sense. For me, I want to be informed if I've hurt someone or people in whatever way so I can take full responsibility for my actions and adjust where necessary or iron things out maturely. Without communication, relationships (not just romantic here; it could be business, family, professional and co) cannot be built or sustained, and understanding cannot be established. It's essential to communicate to make amends and address issues properly. If you fail to do so, you can't be mad at the other person for not doing what you expect of them. Misunderstandings can arise when two people see things differently, but discussing each other's perspectives can resolve the situation. I understand that not everyone is a good communicator, but I rely on both speaking and writing to express myself effectively in any situation that demands communication. You can learn to do the same. Yes, I agree many times our words can be misinterpreted, but it is better than being quiet and not saying anything at all. Learning to resolve issues through communication is crucial in all relationships, whether it's with family, friends, spouse, partner, or acquaintances goes a long way to resolve conflicts, solve puzzles and avoid long-term anger. It gives room for peace and clarity. Make proper and clear communication a habit. Cheers
