What's with this rubbish "if not for fasting " am hearing everyday? The other day in a filling station where I drove in to buy fuel, one goaty beard muslim was tongue lashing a taxi driver that chanced him on the queue that if not for ramadan fast he would have stabbed him to death.

No. It isn't. Fasting is the holy month, full of blessings and for u to get the blessings in full, one needs to desist or abstain from all kinda immoral thoughts, acts and talks. Its the month for those that have lost their way to find their way. To the best of my understanding, its the month of training ones mind, body and in fact, soul to abide by islamic teachings.

So if a man tells u "if not for fasting, he would hav done this or that", it means ordinarily, islam doesn't permit it. It is believed that if u do in a month(fasting month), what you ordinarily find uneasy in 11months, your body and mind should get used to it even after that month.. So in short, fasting is just to encourage all form of good deeds(eg bn tolerant, kind and most especially giving alms to the poor and ETC) and for all muslims to feel what the poor feels(hunger) every day of their life. #peace

A security expert, Mr. Jackson Olalekan-Ojo, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari, to sack the current service chiefs in the country as a result of their failure to curb the incessant attacks by the Boko Haram sect.

Olalekan-Ojo said this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Wednesday.

He said the service chiefs had done their best but their best was not good enough to tame the insurgents who have continued to kill Nigerians in large numbers.

The statement read partly, ” Having ordered the military to relocate their central command to Maiduguri which is where the fight is, Mr. President should also relieve the current service chiefs of their appointments and appoint new service chiefs that will bring in new initiative and tactics to combat these Boko Haram members.

” These terrorists have now resorted into suicide bombing and these people do twosome, party or solo. I think we need fresh officers with fresh ideas and strategies to stop this bloodletting.

” Human lives are sacrosanct and the President should stop the mindless killings by the group and he should sack the service chiefs to be able to achieve this.”

Olalekan-Ojo lauded the President for acceding to the call of Nigerians on the bailout for states owing salaries, saying this would save the country from crisis which could have happened if the problem was not tackled that way.

The security expert appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the President, saying he was confident that the President would not let the nation down.

According to him, Buhari is laying a solid foundation for the development of the country while urging Nigerians to be patient with the President in order for him to deliver effectively on his electioneering promises.

Even though most of these problems hav bn wit Nigeria for a long time now, they got worse during GEJ's regime.: Corruption, Poor state of our economy/Unpaid salaries as a result of mismanagement and some other few factors(Rememba okonjo said they ve bn borrowing to pay salaries), poor power supply, image of the country(tarnished by GEJ's gvt).. This Boko ish got to this terrific level because of his negligence too and some others I can't mention now.

Most of these problems are already bn fixed except 4 d boko ish..And u and I know efforts are already bn made to curb the menace once and for all. In no distant future, the results of baba's tireless efforts will begin to show.(By God's grace)
