PoliticsRe: Buhari Must Begin His Anti Corruption War With Tinubu, Amaechi - Opinion by midolian(m):
When will you pple ever appreciate something in life?

I remember few days ago when the court ordered Nnamani to forfeit assets to the FG. Some Bigots were saying all sort of rubbish like "Buhari has started. He is hunting the igbos","why is he to forfeit asset to FG and not the state govt?"..Abeg, na Buhari decide for court? If ya pple can have simple talks with the FG, the problem is as good as solved.

Yesterday, it was Lamido. Some Ediots were/are still saying until he jails Tinubu and Amaechi. Now, I am not saying these guys are not corrupt. If u have solid evidence against them, why not present it to these agancies fighting crime? Why rant on nairaland? Plus its barely 6weeks and this man has 3yrs and 10months to go. Why not chill and see what will happen in the long run?

When FFk won in court, these same bigots were happy but never praised Buhari for fairness. They said it was victory for FFK. So, why blame Buhari now? If Buhari starts to throw every corrupt politician in jail without following due process, you guys will say "Buhari is ruling like a military man","He is jailing everyone without trial" "This is democracy" and bla bla bla

I wonder when we will learn to reason as patriots and not bigots.

Na wa o!

[s]The Buharist Zombies don't know that sooner or later it will be Fashola and Tinubu on the list.

Buhari is doing what he did in 1984.

Arresting and jailing Politicians is not to curb corruption but rather to block any future opposition he may have.

Buhari hs truly hit the ground running.

He did this in 1984 and the Plebs celebrated this .

After the Politicians he gagged the Press with Decree 4 from where he took his despotism to the Plebs on the streets who by the time they realized had no politician or opposition figure to fight for their right, the press were gagged and they saw themselves living in a big barrack nation.

It took the efforts of IBB and other senior military officers to rid Nigeria of this power drunk despot.

But today we don't have that option.

Is not Shekau's fault that the northern elite use religion and poverty to keep the masses in check in the north.

The massive brain washing done by religion calls for concern in this country. And I've said it that until we do anyway with this foreign culture we call christianity and Islam, Nigeria our country will not move forward, we will keep going round in circles.

A former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, his two sons Aminu and Mustapha and one Aminu Wada Abubakar are to remain in Kano Central Prsion till September 28, 2015.

The quartet were remanded in prison custody Thursday morning by Justice Evelyn Anyadike of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano after they were docked on a 28-count charge of corruption and money laundering brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

They were arraigned alongside four companies where the Lamidos are believed to have interest.

The companies are Bamaina Holdings Limited, Bamiana Company Nigeria Limited, Bamaina Aluminum Limited and Speeds International Limited.

Lamido is said to have abused his position as governor of Jigawa State between 2007 and 2015, by awarding contracts to companies where he has interest, using his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha as front.

One of the counts in the charge reads, “That you Alhaji Sule Lamido (while being the Governor of Jigawa State, Nigeria), Aminu Sule Lamido, Mustapha Sule Lamido, Bamaina Holdings Limited, Bamaina Company Nigeria Limited and Speeds International Limited between 15th October and 18th December, 2008 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did convert an aggregate sum of N124, 649, 915 (One Hundred and Twenty Four Million, Six Hundred and Forty Nine Thousand, Nine Hundred and Fifteen Naira) paid by Dantata & Sawoe Limited into the account of Speeds International Limited domiciled with an old generation Bank at Kano which fund you reasonably ought to have known to be proceeds of an unlawful act of Alhaji Sule Lamido who was a Public Officer within the meaning of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers as prescribed under the Fifth Schedule of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 ( as amended ) to wit; engaging in private business by a public officer, using the said company in which he is a director and a shareholder, and to whose account he is a signatory; with the aim of concealing the illicit origin of the said sum and you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 14 (A) of the Money Laundering Act, 2004.”

However when the charges were read to the accused persons they pleaded not guilty.

Their counsel, Offiong Offiong, SAN told the court that he had filed application for bail and urged the court to consider granting the accused persons bail.

But prosecuting counsel, Chile Okoroma, requested for time to respond to the application.

He prayed the court to remand the accused persons in prison custody as the EFCC holding facilities in Abuja and Kano were already overstretched.

Justice Anyadike consequently remanded the accused persons in prison custody pending consideration of their bail application and adjourned to September 28, 2015.

After the judge’s pronouncement, a mild drama ensued between Lamido and the Deputy Chief Registrar of Federal High court, Barrister Solomon Akpedah.

Lamido was asked to proceed to board the waiting van taking him to Kano central prison when he exclaimed, “you mean I’m now a prisoner?!”.

Akpedah, however, replied that “no sir, you are not a prisoner”.

The arraignment of Lamido and his children was not without incident as an unruly crowd of supporters loyal to the former governor threatened to disrupt the court session.

It took reinforcement of the detachment of policemen at the court to maintain order.

The travails of the Lamidos began in 2012 when one of his sons, Aminu was arrested by Operatives of the EFCC at the Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano for failing to declare a sum of forty thousand United States Dollars ($40,000).

He was prosecuted and convicted with 50 percent of the undeclared sum forfeited to the Federal Government.

But the enquiries into the source of the funds led investigators into the closely guarded web of corruption and money laundering involving members of the former first family of Jigawa State and their cronies.

PoliticsBuhari Didn’t Order Dismantling Of Military Checkpoints –NSA by midolian(op):
THE National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd) on Thursday, July 9, 2015 denied reports the that President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the dismantling of military roadblocks along the nation’s highways.

Speaking after a meeting with top military officers in Abuja, Dasuki said that military roadblocks in flashpoints would continue to be maintained.

However, those in relatively peaceful areas would be dismantled but soldiers would still be positioned in those areas while not blocking roads.

His words: “It is both conventional and a global practice for governments to increase security measures whenever insecurity is heightened and appealed to citizens to endure attendant inconveniences as they are temporary.”

Dasuki said that the essential security checkpoints in vulnerable areas are ‘necessary inconvenience’ to ensure criminals and terrorists do not have easy passage.

He cited some arrests made recently including that of a mastermind of bomb attacks in some towns who were nabbed by Nigerian troops at such checkpoints.

While condemning indiscriminate proliferation of security checkpoints by unauthorised bodies, he said.

“We will continue to ensure that the necessary or essential security checkpoints are not avenues for extortion, indiscipline and other forms of corrupt practices that can exacerbate traffic flow and cause road accidents.”

He added that the government is deploying new sophisticated scanners and detectors in some areas to ease traffics and to identify movements of strange objects, concealed weapons and criminal suspects.

“With effective use of technology which minimises physical contacts between security personnel and citizens, the time spent at designated security checkpoints will ultimately be reduced,” he said.

He said that whenever necessary, the soldiers will mount their points to conduct security screening in emergency situations and for quick response.

Politics2 Boys Arrested In Connection With Bomb Explosion In Adamawa by midolian(op): 3:34pm On Jul 09, 2015
Two would-be suicide bombers have been arrested in Yola for attempting to sell an explosive device given to them by two men, the police have said.
The boys were given the device to take to Bauchare, a suburb of Yola.

The bombers, aged 9 and 11, were arrested after they attempted to sell the improvised explosive device before it exploded injuring one of the suicide bombers.

The incident occurred opposite Federal Road Safety Corp office, along Numan road, Yola.

“The two bombers are little boys,” a witness, who works at a fuel filling station close to the scene of the explosion, said. “I saw when they took the explosives to one baba that buys scraps and the baba said he is not going to buy because it was small, they left.

“I was standing here in this fuel filling station when those boys left the baba but just as they got to the road, there was an explosion. One of them was injured and they started running.”

Confirming the report, the Adamawa state Road Safety Corp Commander, Luka Ikpi, said, “When I heard the noise, I rushed out but I was told it was tyre that got burst. But the sound I heard was not that of tyre. So I asked my officer in charge of intelligence to find out.

“It was when he came back that he confirmed my fears, and told me that two little boys have been apprehended. I then arrested them and handed over them to the police,” Mr. Ikpi said.

Also the police bomb section confirmed the explosion, adding that the two boys were in their custody and more arrests have been made following information from the suspected suicide bombers.
