Hello Nairaland,

I am seeking advice on relocating to either Germany or Canada at the beginning of next year. I currently work remotely as the sole UI/UX designer for a tech company in Nigeria. I am married and in my late 20s. The idea of relocating has been on my mind for a few months now, and I have seriously been considering leaving the country. I hold a degree in Electrical Engineering.

A friend suggested that I could move through a study program, but I am not sure if I can focus on academics at the moment. I am keen to hear how others have successfully and legitimately relocated. My wife is insistent that I shouldn’t leave the country without her, so I am planning for both of us to move together.

I would appreciate any advice on how to proceed with relocating to either Germany or Canada. If you prefer to share detailed information privately, my email is in my signature.

I live in Germany. with your UI/UX skills, you can comfortably get a job in Germany from Nigeria .
With that you can apply for a blue card which takes way less than three months to process so far your job contract offers you more than 48k euro yearly.

In my own case, I came as a student for masters. But dropped out and got a blue card job in IT as a cloud administrator using my Nigerian degree. With that I changed my residence.

But now it’s easy to just apply for the IT jobs from Nigeria. And note your English is sufficient to get you an IT job over here.

I am in a dilemma and I need advice on what to do.

A bit of background about myself: I am a 29 years only child from a very poor background. I work for an IT firm which i joined in 2019 as a graduate trainee.

My total income is around 490k (400k from main job, 90k from a writing side gig).


My challenge:
Recently, My host have told me to look for my accommodation and I have been searching for houses. Unfortunately, the places closer to my places of work is expensive.

I work in VI and the cheapest mini flat I have seen in close vicinity is 1.2M at Ajah.

I also have have a building project I am undertaking in the village that is at roofing stage and my parents have been pressuring me to settle down as the only child.

My dilemma is this, If i go for the house at Ajah, it will eat a bulk of my savings, thereby making it impossible for me to complete the building project or even start the process of settling down.

If I go for a cheaper but farer location, I will be spending more time in traffic.

Please, how do I manage this?

Chief that bicycle is nowhere near 30k nowadays needless to say 2 years ago. I sell Bicycles, skates shoes and scooters for all ages and weight. What you've got there even if you bought it above the 30k mark you pegged it at... It was a total rip off for a plastic bike.
