Russia’s ambassador to Sudan has been found dead in a swimming pool at his residence in the capital, Khartoum. Sudanese police said a preliminary investigation indicated MirG.ayas Shirinsky had died of natural causes.

They say that the 63-year-old was found dead yesterday evening “in the swimming pool of his residence”.

Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said today that staff at the Khartoum embassy called an ambulance but Mr Shirinsky “could not be saved”.

“The Russian envoy was found in his residence with evidence of an acute heart attack,” she said.

“He dedicated his life to diplomacy. We express sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.”

Although his death is not suspicious, Mr Shirinsky is the fourth Russian diplomat to die in service in the past year.

While the moon was eclipsing the sun, Google announced the launch of its new mobile operating system called Android 8.0 Oreo in an Eclipse-themed launch event in New York City.

Yes, the next version of sugary snack-themed Android and the successor to Android Nougat will now be known as Android Oreo, the company revealed on Monday.

Google has maintained the tradition of naming its Android operating system by the names of alphabetically-ordered sugary delights beginning with Android Cupcake and followed by Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, KitKat, Lollipop, Marshmallow and Nougat.

The good news is that the Android team has brought several significant features to your smartphone and tablet with the release of Android Oreo to make its mobile platform more secure, fast, power efficient and offer better multitasking.

The new updated mobile operating system, which has been available for the last few months in developer beta, will arrive on your Android devices by the end of this year.

1. No More 'Install From Unknown Sources' Setting

Not all applications installed from third-party sources are malicious, but most of the apps installed from outside of the official Play Store could land you in trouble.

England’s record goalscorer Wayne Rooney announced on Wednesday he is retiring from international football with immediate effect, despite England manager Gareth Southgate telling him he had earned a recall.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, will hold a policy committee meeting on August 21 and 22 to determine cut off points for admission into various courses in Nigerian tertiary institutions for 2017.

Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, on Sunday said he had given the Board approval to hold the policy committee meeting on 2017 admission.

He said the meeting will kick-start the 2017 admission exercise.

The policy committee will announce the cut off points at the end of the meeting.

“All stakeholders including vice-chancellors of universities, rectors of polytechnics and mono-technics and provosts of colleges of education would be in attendance,” he said in a statement.

JAMB disclosed that it has sent to all institutions a soft copy of printout of candidates who chose them.

A month or two after HIV has entered their body, 40-90% of the people experience symptoms that resemble flu symptoms, and this is known as acute retroviral syndrome (ARS).
