Rivers State will do Well with Barr Wike as Governor under PDP We better have our own #PDPGovernor as an opposition than to have those who conspired against #JONATHAN our brother, run our dear Rivers state.Lagos state has been a successful opposition state since 1999, Anambra, Ogun, Edo, Imo, borno, Zamfara among others have thrived as opposition states even before #Amaechi selfishly turned Rivers state to one. Let us protect what we have left, our dignity and oneness, lets do this by having a Governor we can call our own. Vote Barr Nyesom Wike of PDP, to restore the DIGNITY of the Rivers Man

Woe unto Gov. Amaechi, the Judas who betrayed our son Jonathan. Woe unto Dakuku; an Ijaw son who campaigned and voted for Buhari. Today, we are the prey. And for us to survive as a people, we must run faster than the northern predators and traitors; like Gov. Amaechi and Dakuku who betrayed our son Jonathan. We have forgiven the North for taking our oil. The battle for the soul of Rivers State is between Gov. Amaechi and the wonderful people of Rivers State. Therefore, we must take back Rivers State. And come April 11th, we will vote for the will will of the people again

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has again boasted that it would shock the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the six geopolitical zones of the country at March 28 presidential election, adding that its candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan will claim a resounding victory. This was disclosed by the PDP Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus while reviewing the party’s presidential campaign tour of the six geo-political zones with journalists in Abuja. According to Secondus, the party was overwhelmed by the warm reception accorded it and its presidential candidate and was convinced that PDP was unstoppable at the polls. “The president is not going to lose the election. I am telling you emphatically that we will win this election convincingly in the six geopolitical zones. Even in the South-West, we will shock them “We will do far better than we did in 2011 in the entire North generally, despite the security challenges we are facing over there. “There is no shaking In the North-West, especially Kano, where we lost the governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to the APC, but we gained the incumbent education minister, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau and he is going to make the difference. The PDP boss also expressed confidence that APC will be shocked with the result of the presidential election in the South-West, despite the fact that its vice presidential candidate, Professor Yemi Oshibanjo, hails from the zone. “If you look well, the projects commissioned by President Jonathan in the last few weeks were in the South-West, including two power projects,” he said. He also pointed at the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as one of the projects in the region that could tilt victory in favour of President Jonathan. Reacting to reports of cracks in the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, Secondus said: “Forget about that, everybody is working. We don’t go on imaginary journey, we deal with reality. Everybody here is working for the president.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan leads in the Nigerian presidential race with double-digits in two comprehensive national polls Guardian News - Houston, TX - Less than three weeks to the Nigeria’s general election, President Goodluck Jonathan of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is taking a surprise double digit lead in two separate polls over his major challenger, General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) of the All Progressive Congress. In a Guardian News/ American Journal of Transformational Leadership (AJTL) poll released few hours ago, Jonathan swaggers a 36% lead in first poll processed through lived interviews, and a whopping 39% lead in a second poll processed through an electronic survey process. Both surveys were processed with closed-ended question asking respondents who they would choose between the two candidates if elections were held at the time. The first poll was conducted by cell phone interviews among 1200 adults with 200 samples drawn from each of the six Nigerian geopolitical zones, namely, North-Central, North-Eastern, North-Western, South-Eastern, South-South, and South-Western regions between January 14 and January 20. Jonathan polled 63% ahead of Buhari’s 27% percentage points, with 10% yet to decide on either candidate. All respondents identified themselves as eligible voter while age and zones of residence were verified through individual social network accounts. The overall survey has a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points, though the margin of partial samples would be higher. The second poll conducted between January 24 and 26 was specifically designed with images, names and party affiliation of the two major candidates, President Jonathan, and General Buhari (Rtd), to enable research participants to expediently check their choices of their next leader. Jonathan topped Buhari with 39%, polling 67% over Buhari’s 28%, with 5% yet to decide. The poll has a margin of error of five percentage points. The Guardian News/ AJTL poll is the first comprehensive poll conducted on the Nigerian election based on the diversity of population samples and methodology. AJTL recommended such triangulated process to create validity and explain with clarity, the fruitfulness and density of individual attitude to social phenomenon. While the study was not aimed at establishing a demographic breakdown of findings, Peter Morgan, a student research intern who took part in the sample-collection process explained that most undecided voters were mainly from the North- Central, North-Eastern, and North-Western geopolitical zones who were uncomfortable to disclose their choices for undisclosed reasons. Further analysis, including a survey revealing the approval rating of the incumbent, President Jonathan is being processed and will be published accordingly.

Why is Buhari not talking much during campaigns? Is it because of: 1. Not knowing what to say? 2. Not interesting in saying anything? 3. Knowing what to say but not knowing how to say it? 4. Just fulfilling an appearance but disinterested in the entire campaign process? How can this man of very few words represent Nigeria abroad? Or would Osinbajo be the one attending to all foreign matters, including those that are exclusively presidential?

President Jonathan and his campaign train today hit Jalingo, Taraba State for re-election rally. Turnout was very impressive! God Bless Nigeria! Here are some photos from the PDP Presidential Campaign Rally in Jalingo

LAFIA—PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan yesterday set an age barrier for a possible successor if he wins re-election, saying that anyone above 57 years would not receive his support in 2019. Speaking at a campaign rally in Lafias, Nasarawa State the president also disowned the governorship aspiration of his former minister of information, Mr. Labaran Maku, affirming he never supported his move from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The President also promised to give special attention to Nasarawa State on account of what he said is the proximity of the state to Abuja. Giving his determination to support power transfer to the younger generation, the president said: “We want to encourage young people because the future belongs to them. We will not take leadership from you because you are the leaders of tomorrow. The director-general of my campaign organisation, Dr. Ahmadu Ali, has mentioned that my successor is going to be a younger person and that is what we will do. ‘’If you look at how we are going you will find out that what he said is true. Obasanjo was 70 when he was elected, the late President Yar’Adua was in his early 60s, I am about 60. So the PDP is grading down from Obsanjo to me.

inecs schedule for 2015 elctions.....

it is safer to begin this piece by stating one fact.no one in rivers state, particularly in port harcourt questioned the eligibility of the honorable minister of state for education, Nyesom Wike,to nurse or pursue an ambition to govern rivers state from May 29th,2015.his ambition to occupy brick house port harcourt, the seat of power in rives state, this year is legitimate. He is eminently qualified to contest for his party’s ticket. Why not! After all, the demonstrated commitment to the party, along with others, when the people’s democratic party was under siege, as its leader in the state began an open warfare against perceived enemies in the state and its presidency.Wike who, as the highest ranking politician from the state in president jonathans cabinet rose to thechallenge, along with other silent but effective rivers leaders who stood firm with him, to checkmate what they considered "the excuses of governor chibuike amaechi and his agenda to ambush president jonathans second term prospects"-an agenda that was particularly unpopular with his people of rivers state.

You have the power to make things right...so do the right thing by going for the real deal..#wikewinningteam# |
The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship Candidate in the State, Dakuku Peterside of gross abuse of office while he served as State commissioner for Works. The Party in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media to the State chairman, Jerry Needam said rather than use government approved funds for road rehabilitations particularly in Bori, Khana Local Government Area, Mr. Dakuku diverted the funds for personal use. To make for the shortfall the PDP further alleged, Mr. Dakuku Peterside inflated the contract values of the few roads that were constructed while others were poorly executed, skipping approved guidelines and specifications which left the roads highly vulnerable. The PDP said it has facts and figures to prove Mr. Dakuku committed the crime and enriched himself at the expense of the people’s welfare and challenged him to a public debate if he feels the allegations are not true. Part of the misappropriated funds the PDP insists, accounts for the massive wealth of the APC guber candidate which is suspect and underserved of a faultless public servant. The PDP believes the only reason Mr. Dakuku Peterside is seeking the office of Governor is to consolidate on this illegitimately acquired wealth and those of his sponsors and benefactors. The only way to stop this madness and tendency to corrupt is to vote against the APC and whatever it stands for, the PDP noted. It would be recalled that Mr. Dakuku Peterside has continued to deceive those not privileged to know him well and how he conducted himself as State Commissioner for Works under outing Gov. Amaechi as though he was a performer. The remnants of the poorly constructed roads and those totally abandoned in Bori are still there for all eyes to see, the PDP declared.

“A Leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way” – John C. Maxwell. By Priye Briggs Until the All Progressives Congress picked Warisenibo Dakuku Adulphus Peterside as its governorship candidate in Rivers State, there was confusion and palpable fear about the future of the state. Many big-wigs of the Peoples Democratic Party [including some founding members of the party] had cause to reconsider their membership of a party that has become anything but democratic, and so did the ordinary people wonder if governance in Rivers State had become the exclusive preserve of a charmed circle of political patrons and their benefactors. Contrary to the existing principle of power rotation among the various ethnic groups and the people’s desire for a humble and charismatic leadership, the Abuja dictators hand-picked the former Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike as its preferred candidate. And when the victims of the PDP political machination kicked against injustice, some of them were hounded and brutalized right in the premises of the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. Rivers State was a political time-bomb waiting to explode on account of injustice, until the simple, humble and charismatic Dakuku Peterside emerged on the scene. Born in Opobo-Kingdom of the King Jaja fame some 45 years ago, Peterside is a former Commissioner for Works in Rivers State and member representing Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives where he has left his foot-prints in the sands of time as Chairman House Committee on Petroleum Resources [downstream sector]. Owing to his wealth of experience, he has also served as a member of other strategic committees, including anti-corruption, National Ethics and Values, Drugs, narcotics and financial crimes, cooperation and integration in Africa, Electoral Matters, Industry; Communications and works. His laudable achievements in public life, as those who have kept a close tab on his career would readily admit, is the outcome of conscious efforts to attain personal development for leadership. After grazing from the learning pastures of the prestigious Okrika Grammar School [OGS] in the 1980s, Dakuku proceeded to the Rivers State University of Science and Technology where he bagged a degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences. In a desperate search for knowledge, at a time his peers were fiercely engaged in the pursuit of material acquisitions, Dakuku went further to obtain a post-graduate Diploma in Business Administration. He’s today an alumnus of the Georgia State University [Atlanta] and the Harvard Kennedy School. A member of the Institute of Medical Laboratory Sciences, and the Nigerian Institute of Management, he is also a fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria. A globally-recognized expert in institutional reforms, the Amaopusenibo of Opobo Kingdom has been a regular resource person at international conferences around the world where he constantly shares his thoughts on leadership, corporate political strategy and business-government interactions. Charity, as the saying goes, begins at home. Peterside is a man who has worked tirelessly as a youth to improve the lots of Rivers People, without necessarily playing to the gallery. At various times, quite early in life, he served as National President of the National Union of Rivers State Students, State Financial Secretary of the defunct Democratic Party of Nigeria, Special Assistant to former Governor Peter Odili on students and youths Affairs and chairman of Opobo/Nkoro local government area in 2005 when he was recognized as the best performing local government chairman. Dakuku Peterside [Ph.D] makes no pretense about transforming Rivers State with a magic wand overnight. Unlike others, he counts on the support of Rivers People and his undying passion for sustainable development to improve the lots of the people. A seasoned management expert and globally acclaimed leadership trainer, this man who was instrumental to the success of Governor Rotimi Amaechi’s infrastructural revolution in Rivers State intends to take service delivery of new heights in the Nation’s “Treasure Base”. In addition to infrastructure development, Peterside has articulated a workable plan on industrialization, youth empowerment and security. Above all, his highest selling point is his antecedent and avowed commitment to purposeful leadership and transparency in governance. For now, how he intends to achieve his dreams for Rivers State is obviously more important. That Peterside is a credible alternative in a political setting soaked in tension emanating from the PDP politics of exclusion is evident in his political philosophy that drives home the point that Rivers People are “Greater Together”. Having considered the where the people find themselves now and where they ought to be, the Igbani-born politician of distinction has thought it wise to devise a political strategy that seeks to mobilze the people for the common good of Rivers State, regardless of their ethnic, religious and political differences. To dwell further on his “Greater Together” Political philosophy, it is a deliberate attempt to aggregate the social capital in Rivers State with a view to employing the benefits that flow from such a governmental arrangement, including trust, cooperation, information and reciprocity, to re-invent governance. The planned alteration in the existing social order of a system imbued with conflict arising from an unhealthy competition over the control of political, social and economic capital has come at the nick of time. Clearly, what the government of Dr. Peterside intends to achieve is a more politically stable environment driven by increased awareness, greater participation, and the building of public trust in political leadership. To achieve its objectives, the political inclusion agenda of the APC governorship candidate in Rivers State also promises increased opportunities for all, particularly the most disadvantaged groups and communities. Beyond mere platitudes, Dr. Peterside’s action-plan provides real solutions to the problems confronting Rivers People in recent times. On the political scene, he represents a paradigm shift in many aspects. To the admiration of his friends and close associates, Dakuku is not one to shut the door against a brother or neighbour on account of political differences. Little wonder he has spent his entire political career building bridges of unity and friendship across the length and breadth of Rivers State. Without a shadow of doubt, the man who is now fondly called DAP [an acronym for Dakuku Adulphus Peterside] is the most technically equipped candidate gunning for the highest political position in the state, an office where making correct political decisions requires sound judgment. Unlike those without any record of achievements outside the realm of politics, the next governor of Rivers State is a man who, having developed his mind at the highest level in the academia, understands how to use political power for public good. It was perhaps owing to his unrelenting quest for good governance and the promotion of human rights that he established the Democratic and Leadership Initiative, a non-governmental organization which he ran successfully until his appointment as works commissioner in 2007. “The chick that would become a cock”, as the African saying goes, can be spotted the very first day it was hatched”. This is a unique opportunity for all to identify with Dakuku Peterside, the new ers State |
