I live on the Arapaja axis of Ibadan, Oluyole Local Government, and the power supply here is far worse than anyone should reasonably endure. Over 60% of residents in this neighbourhood now rely on solar or inverter systems. In my own case, I had to upgrade my inverter capacity in November just to power more appliances and get longer hours of electricity.

I visited the Agbowo area today, where residents lamented that electricity used to be very reliable, something I can personally attest to. However, since around June this year, supply has deteriorated to the point of embarrassment. While electricity appears stable in a few selected areas in Ibadan, one must ask: why should access to power be selective? I have not even consumed up to fifteen thousand naira (₦15,000) worth of electricity in my fully equipped three-bedroom apartment in the entire year 2025, an indication of just how terrible the power supply has been.

If a state represented by the current Minister of Power can suffer this level of neglect, especially a state he aspires to govern, then it would be deeply misguided for the people of Oyo State to entrust such leadership with the governorship. Although I may have a soft spot for the APC, it is certainly not unconditional. God forbid that Adelabu becomes our governor.

This was exactly what I was discussing with someone few hours ago. Penkelemesi cannot become Oyo state governor. God will not even allow it to happen. I reside in Ibadan and the light issue have been a terrible headache. A state you aspire to govern and as a minister of power does not have light. Ha, it is terrible. The monumental suffering that I experienced in my University days has always been my guide to any life's decision. The moment I want to undertake a venture and someone says you'll have to "suffer a few years before you find your feet". I'll immediately reject that venture. I don too suffer for University abeg, I refuse to suffer again in my life.

Anyone that suffered in any Nigeria University will be very careful in making life decision. I suffered a lot too while in the University. I can't just easily forget the suffering. I nearly commit suicide. As I am typing this, I am just crying. Assuming one has even gotten good job, one won't have complained. Despite all the suffering and reading, no job after nine years. It is just too painful.
