Infact they clean up and get tested on a regular basis than side hoes.

Some men test the babes then skin dive anyhow lol.
due to their trade , they are more careful (they move armed with condoms , diaphragm etc.) and dont get carried away like regular girls who can come visiting and when u both in the mood voila! Skin diving takes place .

The Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Health Care Professionals, JOHESU, has threatened it would embark on a nationwide industrial action tagged Operation Alligator Bite over what it termed the federal government’s failure to meet its demands.

It said it tagged the planned action Operation Alligator Bite because it would be more severe than the Operation Python Dance launched by the Nigerian army in the South-East. The group, in a letter titled, “Looming Nationwide Industrial Action: Request for Audience,” and signed by its National Chairman, Joy Josiah, and the National Secretary, Ekpebor Florence, also demanded an audience with President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

Recall that resident doctors had equally embarked on nationwide strike over the federal government’s failure to equally meet its demands. Although the federal government has been trying to reach an agreement with the doctors to return to their hospitals, the strike embarked upon by the resident doctors has adversely affected, especially, patients at various hospitals very negatively. Patients had cried out to the government, pleading that the demands of the doctors be met so that they can resume duties and treat them of their ailments. However, with JOHESU threatening to join the fray, the health sector definitely will suffer major loses. JOHESU, in the letter to the legislature, is seeking an intervention to avert the planned strike which it said would definitely affect the health sector adversely. According to the statement, “We write on behalf of the leadership of Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Health Care Professionals, a body which makes up about 95 per cent of health workers and health care providers, to seek for your intervention in the protracted demands and agitations between JOHESU and the Federal Government since 2014 by granting us urgent audience on Wednesday, September 13, at 10 a.m. or any other date not later than a week before September 30. “We are compelled to seek for your intervention so as to avert indefinite industrial action in the health industry. The founder of the popular resort, Whispering Palms - a scenic resort in Badagry - is Professor Deji Olufemi Pearse, an 85-year-old retired Professor of Medicine. Witty and quick to poke fun at himself, he is delighted that the objectives of the resort have been realised, especially since people didn’t think he would succeed. Some say he must have got his creative & artistic inclination from his late mother Elsie Femi-Pearse, who was into politics in the 50s. She was a member of the old Action Group, back then. That is why a street was named after her – Elsie Femi-Pearse Street in Victoria-Island, Lagos. Due to her active involvement in politics, people had thought that she would be Chairman of the Lagos City Council, in those days. But she lost, because some of her colleagues in the AG – all male – said 'though Mama was good in social work, hospital work, and that education and social services would improve under her', but she did not know “business.”

Business › People Called Me Crazy When I Started Whispering Palms —prof Pearse by millhouse(op): 7:21am On Sep 11, 2017
The founder of the popular resort, Whispering Palms, Professor Olufemi Pearse, speaks about its beginning, and the country’s arts and hospitality industry in this interview.

IT’S a cool Sunday afternoon and the founder of Whispering Palms, a scenic resort in Badagry, Lagos State, Professor Olufemi Pearse, is in good spirits.

The 85-year-old retired Professor of Medicine has just had a drink with the American Ambassador, who, on returning from a visit to the Akran of Badagry, had espied the resort’s jetty and stopped by to see what was happening.

“Se e ri oko ti man yen gbe wa,” meaning did you see the boat the Ambassador brought? He asks the artist Nathaniel Hodonu and I in Yoruba but we tell him no.

“O solid (It’s solid). I told him I would be willing to buy it whenever they want to dispose it and he was a bit surprised. He has taken my contacts though,” he continues as he leads us to the newly added games section of the resort to start our chat.

Dressed in a faded beach shirt, brown trouser, boots and fez cap, Professor Pearse’s nondescript appearance would make you take him for an old hired help instead of the visioner of the resort conceived 36 years ago but which opened its doors to guests a decade later.

Witty and quick to poke fun at himself, he’s delighted that the objectives of the resort have been realised, especially since people didn’t think he would succeed.

“Our vision has been well realised. We are happy that we are making Nigerians happy. This is a beautiful country, but we don’t seem to know it. We are showing Nigerians that it’s a beautiful country. When we came here in 1981, people said the man must be crazy. He’s a professor; he has read too many books, he doesn’t know how to spend money. He’s wasting money in this bush but now they say something different. It’s a matter of mission fulfilled for us.”

Back then, academics were not known to be wealthy, so how did he acquire the resort’s expansive land?

“In 1980, I won election to be the Provost of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos and the university had trouble with their vice chancellor, [Professor Babatunde] Adadevoh, who was removed; the deputy vice-chancellor was removed, the Registrar was removed by government and six other professors were removed. According to the statute of the University of Lagos, in the absence of the vice chancellor or the deputy vice chancellor, the provost of the College of Medicine is next to govern the university.

“So I was to have three positions; acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos; Provost, College of Medicine and Chief Medical Director, Lagos University Teaching Hospital. Now, that would be three jobs for one pay so I told my wife one night, iku ti de, death has come. We must have a retreat or else we will die on these three jobs. In January 1981, I started looking for land. I decided to work very hard from Mondays to Fridays; Saturdays and Sundays were free days to look for the retreat because I made up my mind that I would not die on the three jobs. That was how this place started. We are very happy; what gives us fulfilment is that we can make Nigerians happy. Many people don’t realise that the very essence of governance is to make the people happy.”

Funding the billion naira project, expectedly, was not a piece of cake as he reveals: “We sold our houses in Lagos in order to build this place; we sold our houses and land in Agbara in order to concentrate on this place. I told my wife, there’s no point having too many houses in Lagos or Agbara. Let’s put everything in one place so that we can supervise it. We used to live at Agbara but we sold the house for N24 million because I told her going back to Agbara at night is risky. I said let’s sell the house, put the money into this place. That’s what we did to survive and of course we had some stocks which we also used to finance this place but even then the finance was not enough.”

From that humble root, Whispering Palms has since become a popular get-away for couples on honeymoon, pre-wedding photo shoots, companies and organisations who appreciate quality.

Professor Pearse, whose father was also a medical doctor, laughs heartily when asked if there’s a masterplan for the resort.

“When you don’t have too much money, you can’t have a masterplan. Government can have masterplan but here everything depends on what is in your pocket,” he says still laughing. “Master plan can be developed when you have big capital or maybe you have stolen big government money and you want to do something huge. But when you are doing something for pleasure, it’s a day-by-day event. We thank God that our ideas have come out as if we had a big master plan. We had no master plan; all we wanted was something for the family and ourselves. Later, we changed and decided to open it up to the people because it was getting more expensive to maintain even that time. But we have no regrets in the sense that we’ve opened it up to people to enjoy themselves. To keep Nigerians happy is our mission and we are happy we have fulfilled that mission.”

Though there are palms around the get-away, they are neither whispering nor talking. So why did he chose to name it Whispering Palms?

He explains that it’s the name of a resort he and his family stayed when they went on a trip to Kenya and the Copper Belt. Though his children wanted North America and Europe, they were eventually very happy with the choice of Africa after the trip.

“We went to Kenya, Mombasa. There was the Indian Ocean and we stayed at Whispering Palms for three or four nights; it was a German resort. We went to Maasai Mara to see the animals, to Zimbabwe to see Zambezi Falls and the artificial lake; we also went to the area known as the Copper Belt. We returned to Nigeria and I was happy that I had a good time. My children, who were previously abusing me for not taking them to North America and Europe, started praising me that it was the best trip of their lives. I told them that Africa is beautiful; it’s just that we have bush men, bush politicians running Africa; that’s why everything is upside down.”

Back in June when we had our chat, Nigeria had not officially exited recession and the doctor, whose mother was a teacher, youth leader and politician discloses that the resort, like the wider hospitality industry, is also feeling its effects.

“All the big companies making profit don’t come regularly anymore because they want to save money. Previously, we used to have a lot of companies here. At least once a month we had a big company having retreats .Now you don’t see that anymore because the country is dry; dry in every way,” he says.

Apart from the beautiful structures and games at Whispering Palms, there are also several artworks, a museum, mini zoo, and an exhibition space for Hodonu, underscoring Prof Pearse’s love of the arts. Though his interest in the arts is innate, it’s also acquired as he explains: “You are doing a hard job in the university, a thinking job and one of the ways to relax is to appreciate the arts. Then, my wife used to be Human Resources Manager of Gulf Oil and Chevron. Whenever expatriates were going home, on retirement, leave or secondment, she would have to organise presents for them; Benin bronzes and things like that. That helped us to acquire a lot of artworks and appreciate them too.”

Having invested a significant amount of his life in hospitality and the arts, it’s not surprising that Professor Pearse’s wants more for the sector and the country.

“Nigeria has a lot of beautiful facilities but before we can do much, we need to develop domestic tourism. If foreigners know you are happy in your country, foreigners will like to share in that happiness. If we do not succeed with domestic tourism, we won’t succeed with international tourism,” he warns as the interview ends.

http://punchng.com/if-i-wasnt-a-senator-ig-idris-policemen-would-have-planted-a-gun-on-me-misau/

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, Isa Misau, who is accusing the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, of being involved in a N120bn-security scandal, tells JOHN ALECHENU the role police play in entrenching corruption in Nigeria

Recently, you accused the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, of being involved in a financial scandal amounting to N120bn. What is the scope of the allegation and what evidence do you have?

I made that allegation because I know that oil companies, oil servicing companies, multinational companies, corporations, big hotels, embassies, oil marketers and private institutions dealing with the police pay for services rendered by the police and the amount is in the range of more than N10bn monthly, most of which goes into private pockets. I said if this money was collected legally and properly documented and accounted for, the police would be better for it. I suggested that instead of the police always complaining about the lack of operational funds, such money should be paid into the government’s coffers so that it can be appropriated. Apart from that, the police are about the only institution you hear that state governments donate vehicles and operational funds to. There should be a way to know what every state government is contributing or donating to various state police commands.

As we speak, there are no records. You don’t know what the Federal Capital Territory Command spends on the police; the same with Kaduna, Kano and elsewhere. You will only see on television that so-and-so state governor has donated 20 Hilux vehicles to a police command. What about operational vehicles budgeted annually by the Federal Government for police commands across the states? There is no state in Nigeria where a governor doesn’t give money to the police on a monthly basis. If we want to get rid of corruption, we must start by being accountable. If a state government is donating equipment to the police, there should be records – records should be kept at all levels. This will reduce waste because when the police come for appropriation at the National Assembly, we will be in a position to say, ‘Look, you were given 100 vehicles in Kaduna, 250 in Rivers and so on.’ As we speak, nobody can tell you the number of serviceable vehicles the police have because they are collecting vehicles and equipment from individuals, states and international donors. Even embassies pay monthly fees for special protection (by the police).

How do you know this?

I worked in diplomatic protection at some point.

How true is it that you and some of your colleagues are putting together a bill to legalise the collection of these fees?

Yes, we are working on a bill. We want a situation where, instead of these fees or levies going into individual pockets, they would be paid into government coffers so that government will have records of what is going to the police, so that it will help in the appropriation process. This money can be used to improve police training, housing and provide equipment to help the police become more efficient.

What is the genesis of your face-off with the police boss?

I was in the office of Senator Baba Kaka, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Business, when a reporter saw me and said he heard that policemen are paying N500,000 for special promotions. I told them, ‘It is more than N500,000’ because some people called me and said it was even up to N2.5m. There and then, I put a call through to some people who are still in service and they confirmed this to the three of us (present) that the allegation was true and it was frustrating a lot of good people out of service. Even one of the people who spoke said if he had capital to start a business, he would have since left the service. The story was reported (in the media) and the Police High Command and the Police Service Commission became uncomfortable with the exposé.

Normally, it is the Inspector General of Police that makes recommendations which he sends to the PSC for approval. Special promotion is alien to the Police Act and the PSC guidelines. All officers in the Nigeria Police Force are also guided by civil service rules. Within these rules, promotions are based on merit. But most of the special promotions you have in the police today are given to policemen attached to politicians and other VIPs (very important persons). All the policemen and officers being killed in Maiduguri (Borno), Lagos, Port Harcourt (Rivers) and other troubled zones do not get considered for such promotions. When I granted that interview, they set up a funny panel headed by a retired assistant inspector general of police, who is also part of those involved in the whole thing (special promotions) – how can the IGP bring a retired AIG and make him head of a police unit to investigate police matters? The retired AIG sent one deputy commissioner (of police) and one other police officer to my office to engage me. They wanted to know the people who told me what I said. I told them that the people I spoke to are serving police officers and I cannot compromise their safety by giving up their names because I have to protect people who give me information. I have to protect my informants.

What steps did you take after the visit?
