Ibkbosson: The guy has just gotten so confused with all the half-baked processes he has been given. I was thinking someone who has gone through similar process would just be kind enough to give him the step by step processes involved. We did something similar for my siblings. Our Dad is a British citizen by naturalization but we were all born in Nigeria and my mum happens to be the second wife Hence the need for DNA test in our own case. We applied to be registered as a British citizen through our Dad (Under the route that says if your parents are not legally married as at the time of your birth or if the were and not legally married). We were given options of some clinics for the DNA test. Ours was done at King's College Hospital in London. We became registered as a British citizen and applied for our British passport. I applied for mine in the UK but my younger ones applied from Nigeria. The form to use for applications abroad is on their website. You cannot use the post office form for applications from outside the UK. The countersignature was done by our Church Pastor in Nigeria and he sent a colored copy of his Nigerian Passport bio data page. We had to send the application to Durham using DHL. My Dad was later called for an interview at the VI, Lagos office. I dont think you have to travel to Nigeria for this. If you state in the application that you are in the UK and that your wife is with the child in Nigeria, they might decide how and who they would like to interview. And I am sure they would work with your locations as well. Do not let all these posts be so overwhelming for you. Take your rime to read and digest the forms, the supporting documents and the processes on their website. Good-luck Dear! Sholeola23: I would advise you go on that Facebook group and ask your question as the group comprises of different people with different nationalities and with different immigration issues. If you get someone on here to help you out, fine. But then it's worth trying different avenues. I pray everything works in your favor. Good-luck. |

Sholeola23: Hi @sholeola can you please be explicit about the content of section 320(11) for you to get a response ASAP. Don't think anyone would be going to check what the section says to respond to you. It would be great if you state the main reasons for your refusal as the section 320(11) encompasses a lot. If I am not mistaking, if your read this thread from the beginning you are very likely to find someone who had been in similar situation as yours. You can try this facebook group "I LOVE MY 'FOREIGN' SPOUSE: defend the rights of cross-border couples" Good-luck. 1 Like |

suavelara: IMHO, I would advise you start counting your 6 months from July (Month after his unpaid leave). It is better to be safe than sorry. I would advise you to zero your mind to applying this August and just put your mind to January 2019 (while making sure hubby works fully for the 6 months with payslips to and bank statements as proof) i.e no to unpaid leave for the 6 months. By January 2019, his 6 months would start from July 2018. 3 Likes |

Killingmesoftly: Hi @Killingmesoftly I would only be able to answer the question i bolded. To the best of my knowledge, I don't think working with an agency matters in as much as you are earning £18600 and above and you have all documents to prove this (employer letter, contract, pay slips and bank statement). When my husband applied last year, I was working with an agency and his application came through.. |

MreSBee: In my own understanding, the self-addressed envelope is required to send your supporting documents back to you. and because most of these documents are of great importance to virtually all applicants, they believe that you would want it to get back to you safe. So i would say the implication of not including one could be loosing your document. |

Aphrodite007: To the best of my knowledge, even as a British citizen for you to be able to pay home/EU fee you have to be resident in the UK with proof for at least 3 years. My little brother is a British citizen and when we tried to make him have his undergrad in UK, they requested proof of his residency in the UK in the last 3 years for him to be able to pay Home student fee. There might be other ways around this though because we didn't push it further. 1 Like |

They are so unpredictable. But so far from what many people on this thread have said, they were not asked any serious question. My hubby was asked how excited he was to join his wife and his passport was stamped. If you can find your way to 'home'(where your spouse resides), then there is no point meeting you up if you guys dont see need for it. But IMHO, I would advise your spouse meets you up at the airport in case of any unforeseen contingencies. phatbaby1: 1 Like |

I dont think this would be an issue at all as my husband put April 2017 as his intended date of travel and he submitted his application in March 2017 and he got his visa processed in June 2017. Aphrodite007: |

To the best of my knowledge, when you are on a salary, being sick for a few days should not affect your salary except your income is based on the number of hours you worked then you are paid at month end. I am a salary earner now and i have taken some sick leaves which did not affect my salary at all. Besides, I don't know why you are trying to complicate issues for your self. That is the essence of the additional information page. You can explain the reason(s) for the income variation for that month there. no one plans to be sick and anything could have happened. Just be as transparent as you can with your application. I did not submit any P60 with my application because i had none for the financial period I applied with (august 2016 to march 2017). I was working as a warehouse operative and paid on an hourly basis with premiums and bonuses. i was working 11 hours for 5 days in a week and sometimes I worked 6 days a week and other times 12 hours a day. All these caused the variation in my wages then. When my husband applied for his visa, we designed a spreadsheet detailing my gross income and net income for each month to make it easier for the ECO to view my income at a glance because i submitted 28 payslips which was equivalent to 6 months if i was on salary. I have attached the screenshot of the spreadsheet to this post and I hope this would be helpful. MreSBee:

Hi @MreSBee I dont think that should be a problem at all because my hubby applied with an irregular income too and there was a month that seems short. Though i was on wages then. But I would advise you add a supporting note and also include it in the additionalk information the reason for the discrepancy. Goodluck. MreSBee: |

readynow: I would advise you include it.. Any document your feel would boost your chances can never be too much. My hubby got no letter from any employer since he filled unemployed on the form. But since you have filled in you employment details, then back it up with necessary documents. Good-luck Dear. |

knwuna: Hi @knwuna the other option i am thinking of is if you both can raise between £18k and £20k to cover for the discrepancy in her income. But bear in mind that this has to be saved in either of you's name for 6 months. If you are wondering how i arrived at the £18, this is the summary. 18600 - 17800 = 800 (800×2.5) + 16000 = 18000. Also bear in mind that loan is NOT an acceptable route of acquiring you savings. |
