Sure, I will wait for the confirmation from my bank but I'm not only out to get my money. The scammer made me lose an opportunity that expired the day he scammed me so I want him to get the feeling of frustration he put me through.

I needed PayPal funds to pay for something. I contacted NairaLanders on my WhatsApp list to see if I could get PayPal funds but there was no success.

I came to the forum yesterday and saw meeky007 talk about PayPal funds.

I chatted him privately and he said he had only $250. I told him I can't deal without escrow, so I contacted Wese09 and he created a group for 3 of us.

One of Wese09's requirements was I.D card. Meeky007 had an issue with it and complained in the group, whether we could wave that outside and continue, but Wese09 said no! I wasn't comfortable sending out mine either so, I chatted meeky007 privately asking if he can bring in anyother known escrow, who knows; he/she might be able to broker without ID.

Meeky007 said, the one's he knows like ladyf, hazzantazzan, don't escrow anymore. It's been long I have not been very active on NL so I could not verify if that was true or not but the only popular escrow I could find was Wese09.

At this point, I used background check and gut instinct! I felt if he was a scam, he won't be comfortable agreeing to an escrow. I typed "meeky007 scam" on Nairaland search bar and no info popped up, I went through his profile. It was an old account created more than 6 years ago. I went through his convos and didn't smell anything fishy.

I asked for his account details and he sent the following account number:

Before I sent him the money, he initially said his rate was N420 per PayPal dollar so I beat it down to N410 and asked him to send screenshot of the PayPal funds.

He sent a screenshot of an account with $289 cash balance and said he only wants to sell $250

I transferred N102,500 to him and sent the PayPal email for him to send the funds and after few minutes, I noticed the messages weren't delivering.(he still hasn't blocked me on WhatsApp up till now, he probably threw the SIM away)

At that point I still didn't know if he was real or scam but something told me to call my bank immediately to protect my funds. I called my bank immediately and they said the money had already left my account but they will initiate a recall but the recall will be based on if the funds are available in the scammers account.

These numbers below are his two numbers. The first number is the one on his profile but doesn't go through now.

I discovered the second number while going through his post. When I called him and he knew it was me, he lied that someone hacked his account.

I ran an escrow for a Nairalander yesterday and I don’t know how, but the other person sweet mouth him out of the group I created for them and they end up transacting outside the group to be scam
