Zidane takes note of Girona treble from set-plays ahead of Juventus game

Real Madrid have an alarming problem in the air which they have been showing week in week out over recent weeks, and it led them to concede three goals from headers on Sunday against Girona.

It was so evident the problem against Girona that it is starting to worry Zinedine Zidane and it was the main cause of concern following the victory as he did not like at all the lack of order at the back. It is set to be a key area that the players will work on when they return from international duty.

A free kick and two corners cost Real three goals and it could have been costly but for the fine display of Ronaldo and in reality their poor defending in the air has not led to more criticism because the wins have been coming recently.

While they could cope against Girona and Eibar with poor defending, it is likely to be more costly in the Champions League.

It already saw them knocked out of the Copa del Rey against Leganes, as they conceded at 2-0 in the Bernabeu and that goal from a corner eliminated them.

Generally Madrid are conceding a lot of goals this season with 33 in total, compared to the 13 by Barcelona and the 14 by Atletico.

Sports4 Cristiano Ronaldo Records That Will Be Difficult To Break by Miremoses1(op): 3:34pm On Mar 20, 2018
A list of 4 records held by Cristiano Ronaldo that will be very hard to break by anybody in the future

Whether it is at the club level or the international level, Cristiano Ronaldo seems to make and break footballing records on a weekly basis. Despite being at the age of 33, when most players enter their decline and start contemplating their retirement, Ronaldo is showing few signs of following suit and continues to perform at the most elite level.

Although the Portuguese legend has a whole host of records to his name, there are some more impressive than others. The sheer size of Ronaldo's record collection is impressive enough but not all of them are unbeatable.

Nevertheless, there are some staggering records that he possesses that seem next to impossible to be broken by a future star of the game. Here's a look at 4 such records that are currently held by Ronaldo:

1. Winning every individual and team honor with two clubs

Ronaldo has won the Ballon D'or, World Player of the Year, Golden Boot, Champions League, domestic league, domestic cup, World Club Championship, and domestic Super Cup at two different clubs.

While his rival, Lionel Messi has achieved this at Barcelona during his miraculous career, CR7 has done so at both Manchester United and Real Madrid. The closest player to matching this record is French legend Zinedine Zidane, who won virtually every individual and team honour at Juventus and Real Madrid, but not all of them.

When considering that of all the legends the game has produced, none have been able to accomplish this feat other than Ronaldo, it begs the question of whether someone in the future will be able to do so either - it is difficult enough achieving this at one club.

It is unfathomable as to how any player in the foreseeable future will eclipse this astonishing record set by the Portuguese, and will rightly be the hardest record of his to break.

2. Scoring 300 La Liga goals in just 286 games

Since Ronaldo joined Real Madrid in 2009, it is fair to say that he has been nothing short of a goal scoring miracle.

The Real Madrid legend has spent his time in Spain devastating goalkeepers season after season and in just his 286th game in La Liga, he scored his 300th goal which is the quickest any player has achieved this.

When considering that Ronaldo also holds the record for reaching 100 goals and 200 goals faster than any other player in La Liga history, this record becomes even more impressive as it shows that from the moment he joined Real Madrid in 2009, he has been consistently scoring goals.

The fact that he has done it at an unprecedented rate of 1.05 goals per game means that it would require another individual to perform at an even higher level than Ronaldo has done for nearly a decade, and chances are that it will stay unbroken.

With the Portuguese behemoth currently sitting at 307 La Liga goals in 288 games, he is showing few signs of slowing down and this record can only get stretched further.

3. Scoring 50 goals for 6 consecutive seasons in a Top-5 league

Being the quickest player to score 300 La Liga goals isn't the only indicator of what an unparalleled goal scorer Ronaldo is. His feat of scoring 50 goals in a season for 6 consecutive seasons in a top league is a truly mind blowing accomplishment.

To make this achievement stand out even more, Lionel Messi has only managed to do this consecutively for 3 seasons.

To score 50 goals in one season is remarkable, but to do it in 6 consecutive seasons at the highest level of football is beyond belief and for that reason it will be a virtually impossible record to break in the future.

Ronaldo's six consecutive seasons where he hit at least 50 goals:

10/11: 54 apps 53 goals

11/12: 55 apps 60 goals

12/13: 55 apps 55 goals

13/14: 47 apps 51 goals

14/15: 54 apps 61 goals

15/16: 48 apps 51 goals

4. Scoring more than 10 Champions League goals in 7 consecutive seasons

The Champions League is the competition that Cristiano Ronaldo performs at his highest level, and this is evidenced by numerous records he holds in the most elite club tournament.

None of these achievements illustrate his dominance more than his record of scoring more than 10 goals a season for seven consecutive seasons in the Champions League.

To put this record into greater context, no other player has managed to achieve this feat for more than 2 seasons despite the tournament being over 60 years old and it is for this reason that it seems highly unlikely that this record will be broken even in the future.

In addition, with Ronaldo still dominating the Champions League in terms of scoring, it is almost certain that he will extend this record - thereby making it even harder to break.

Dani Carvajal unavailable for Real Madrid against Las Palmas

The right-back received a yellow card in the 6-3 victory over Girona and will be suspended for the LaLiga clash on Gran Canaria.

Dani Carvajal will be unavailable for Real Madrid's next LaLiga match after reaching the yellow card limit in the 6-3 win against Girona at the Bernabéu. The full-back will miss the match against Las Palmas on March 31st.

Carvajal went in to the referee's book after 51 minutes. His crime was a foul on Girona's Uruguayan goal-machine Cristhian Stuani, just outside the penalty area.

Like Carvajal, Gareth Bale was walking along the suspension tight-rope. The Wales winger came on in the 71st minute against Girona and scored while also avoiding a booking.

As a result, and barring any players succumbing to injury during the international break, Carvajal will be the only player unavailable to Zinedine Zidane when Madrid visit Las Palmas.

If CR7 hadn't scored his 4 today, we'd have lost to Girona and be fourth.

UCL is still 50:50. We need top 2 finish. So we can gear up for next season on a strong foot.

By the way, check out these interesting stats.

Real Madrid has conceded 33 goals in La Liga this season, Barcelona has conceded 13 only.

Barcelona top 3 goal scorers in La Liga

Messi - 25
Suarez - 21
Paulinho - 8

Real Madrid top 3 goal scorers in La Liga

CR7- 22
Bale - 9
Asensio - 8

I hope the Madrid higher-ups and the coaching crew are paying attention?

-Lord
damn! Real Madrid wasn't on top form, because the main man wasn't at his best during the first half of the season.
This tells you that Ronaldo is our pillar. Now we are doing well because his hit his form. Also thanks to the new formation, it has helped us alot. Let's keep the momentum high. Beating ATM is the next thing.

About the number of goals we concede. Our defense become lazy when we score. For God's sake. Papa Perez wanted Pepe out because he wanted varane to be the next big thing, but now, we have no big wall at the back. Only navas trying his best. But when he does, the defenders let's him down. One or two of those goals scored by girona could have been stopped by varane but he was just lazy to jump.

We don't need new defenders, they just need to find their form, just like how our forwards have found theirs.

Cristiano Ronaldo made a bet with teammates that he would overturn Messi's Pichichi lead

Barcelona's incredible start to the season was characterised by Lionel Messi's blistering goalscoring, however when the disparity between the two players was 11 goals, Cristiano Ronaldo made a bet with his teammates that he would win the Pichichi award.

This seemed a laughable claim at the time, however after a quite wonderful start to 2018, the Portuguese veteran is well on course to challenge for the award.

As part of Radio MARCA's El Transistor programme, Jose Ramon de la Morena revealed that Ronaldo began this challenge in front of his colleagues in order to kickstart his season after a slow run.

Ronaldo's four-goal haul on Sunday evening brings him to within three goals of the Argentine in the goalscoring charts, and the swing in form is clear.

Since Ronaldo's supposed bet, Messi has notched 13 goals with the Real star having scored 21 in the same period, with his sights now firmly set on ending the campaign well and surpassing his rival from the Camp Nou.
