Most Korean Dramas have a way of perfecting one's deepest fantasies and their songs are familiar with the most sensitive part of my fragile heart, whether I understand the wordings or not. Secret Garden-The Man & Woman is currently on repeat and it's going to remain so until I can sing them very well, I don't care how long it takes me ;

So I decided to go for romance and stumbled upon Goblin, loved it, adored the OSTs and then, I started seeing Secret Garden, omoomo!

Verily verily I say unto you, you will find more substance in most older Korean movies and you will never come to fully appreciate the beauty of their ever heart twisting OST until you learn Korean, forget the translated lyrics! I will gradually get there.

I finally gave in and no regrets whatsoever, infact, I should have given in a long time ago.
This series has creeped to my top three! Wow! Absolutely amazing.

There are so many reasons why I would rate it 10/10 but I don't know which one to begin with.
Is it the fact that it reminds me so much of GOT? Or that Euoseom gives me JCW's acting and personality vibes?, or that the story in itself is a great and unrivaled one with lots of singular actors who did great justice to their individual roles? Or that each episode feels like forever in a real wonderland? Or that the dialogues are carrying solid punchlines? Or that the male actors are amazingly real and connected to the stories, from our great Tagon to the foolish but endearing Mugwan(RIP handsome), to our naive but all mysterious Euoseom & Saya, to our wise Mubaek, and power hungry Milho, and our cunny and never trusting Ipsaeng, the list goes on... Or that the ladies are very talented and beautiful?(Taellha, Tanya, Xabarah!...) Or that it has the most beautiful mystical names I have ever heard of? Or the distinctiveness and uniqueness of the many tribes tribes? the mono tribe tickels me most, their generation-long and unyielding sense of gratitude is simply amazing... Let me just stop.


I have finished episode 17 and I am afraid to see the last episode and don't have any more episodes to see till God knows when. I don't think I can handle it, I can't. Do I split the remaining episode(18) in 20 minutes parts and watch one part every week or every month? Each episode seemed to take forever to finish untill I got to 10. What will happen to me?

I think I've said this before but I LOVED Arthdal chronicles but it's not complete, neither is vagabond BTW!!!
These are the ones I really enjoyed too, various genres:
Heartless city
When the devil calls your name
He is psychometric
Doctor John (medical drama but this is one of my top dramas of all time)
Rookie Historian( this is a saguek with more comedy than action but there's still some sort of conspiracy going on sha so...) And I actually liked it a lot

These two are crime dramas, no romance. What I love the most about them is that[b] for the first time, the cops and people involved were not daft.[/b] Plus spicy male leads.

The only Korean action I really enjoyed was IRIS. I jumped into IRIS two with the same enthusiasm and so many questions only to be utterly disappointed. I dumped it and have never bordered to go back to it. Ok, I did enjoy Hotel King too, then Bad guy, a little...
Really, I usually believe that Sageuks, good ones alone can quench my thirst in great action, good writing and strong but realistic Romance. Lol, I may be wrong.


So recommend away, not just recent ones, wanted to do Hwarang but you somehow discouraged me...


While I await your recommendation, let me see if I can watch some single movies or action series. Seen Parasite. Vagabond or City Hunter? Which should I go for?

I finally watched The Tale of Nokdu. It's been a while since I saw a happy ending Korean Drama and this was refreshing.

Beautiful colours and sceneries, heartwarming laughters and convos. Pretty faces and attires.

This one didn't hook me like others did but it was pretty pleasant. It felt like I was 16 again, the lovey dovey thingy between Nokdu and his girlfriend who he is much prettier than BTW.

Nokdu looks so much like Ji Chan Wook and they kinda act the same way.

Some Koreans can be annoyingly pretty, how is it that someone can be so pretty and beautiful and still be a man? His role as lady Kim didn't even help matters as I was stuck with his too pretty and feminine baby face...


Also, How is that Nokdu is such a terrible kisser? I cringed when I watched his first kiss scene. F-9!!! Blah !!! He got better with subsequent kiss scenes but it was very hard trying to forget the flop of his first kiss scene.

Go to that site using Chrome so you can easily switch to English language. Search and download whatever movie you want to. Most movies there do not have subtitile embedded in them but they have subtitles to download alongside the movie.

Here is what I do. I use Chrome for ease of switching to English for better understanding and access on the site. Then when I am ready to download, I just copy and paste the direct link to UC browser. I switch to UC browser because it doesn't stop downloading even when there is a glitch in network.

Chrome can misbehave sometimes, one time your download is at 89%, network sneezes a little, everything disappears and starts afresh....It drives me crazy....

You can just type the name of the movie and add 540p, then search for the ones with foreign language.

So I gathered just enough courage to thank @RaphaellaDD for recommending such a brilliant piece- My country- the new age.


It's not like I was expecting a happy ending in a SK but man! did it have to end so beautifully sad? Did everyone have to die? Na wa ooo. *Starts crying all over*

Bang won is the biggest and saddest loser. What an empty and lonely victory he had. Phewwwww!

Oh lala! Can bromance get any friskier? In my mind, I joined Seon Ho and Hwi already in holy "*atrimony", Hui Jae, please take a seat in the back.

I saw the character of Bang Won in another light in this drama, a total Machiavellian, a pitiable tyrant who couldn't help the blood baths he unleashes, a lonely and vulnerable idiot who appeared strong and whole from the outside, a greedy and selfish person, but can I love him any less? Hell no!!!! Partly because of my Jang-hyuk and partly because I can't come to hate the Bang won six flying dragons showed me. I kind of understand all his brokenness and ruthlessness.

Second most pitiable person was Seon Ho, what a sad character. Trying to break away from the wicked clutches of fate with "no one" to console him, very sad. I literarily saw his exhaustion in his last scene and I am glad he died in Hwi's arms.

Still trying to reconcile the Song gye's character in this drama with the one of six flying dragons. I can't believe they made him out to be such a manipulative father and king here, anyways, it explained a lot of things to me.

What an emotional rollercoaster! Great acting by all the casts. Lol, Mun-bok and Hwa-wol's scene song is refreshingly interesting, I love!!!

Have been a not so frequent lover of this thread and I feast on great Sageuks and historical Korean movies...
I am in search of very greattttttttttt Sagueks/historical Korean dramas to keep busy- no thanks to the Covid-19 induced work from home orders....

So, I love great Sageuks and will not want to waste my time and limited resources downloading Sageuks/historical dramas that are below par. Check out my list of all time favourites in no particular order.

1)Empress Ki- My first love in Korean movies. I love this drama like crazy. I stalked Ji Chang Wook for many light years still stalking him though... I also loved Ha Ji Won for delivering such compelling role as Nyang/Sunyang/Empress ki... My top fave will never be complete without this one.

2)Six Flying Dragons- Beautifully written, powerfully depicted. Great OST! Great cast. The creation of the very talked about Joseon dynasty, felt like I was a part of such history while seeing this great masterpiece. Yoo Ah-In, don't I just love you? I am almost certain nobody could have portrayed kind Taegon as you did. Revealing the flying dragons at the end of the first few episodes felt like I was experiencing something phenomenal....I love!

3)Chuno-Slave Hunter- Oh my! I lack words, Jang hyuk? *Drooling all over again* This is a great master piece that I would never get tired of watching. The bromance is topnotch, very sad gut wrenching ending but I am fine with it. I loved the beautiful sceneries, the story line, the acting, everything was just so perfect. Learned a whole lot of things watching this. Then, the slave guy and lady slave, I loved their courage and blooming romance in such hopeless situation. I love everything about this power packed drama-Chuno!

4) Dae Ja Geum(Jewel in the Palace)- My favourite Korean food drama with Great and beautiful casts...Lol. This movie made me love the appearance of Korean Foods. I had great insights on the meticulous preparation of every Asian delicacy. I am afraid I didn't think they taste just as great after visiting their restaurants at Singapore. I love this movie, and one of my best Korean movies that actually had a happy ending. Don't get me started with the OST. I can hum the song from the beginning to the end any day any time.


5) The Great Queen Seon Deuk- I loved this too. Got a little draggy in the first few episodes but did Bidam brighten and revived the whole drama with his appearance? Hell yes! Had a sad ending too but hey! Who cares? Mishil! My greatest Antagonist ever! Great acting, safe for the expressionless Deokman. Overall, I loved it, all the way.

6)Tree With Deep Roots- Errhmm- had a great rating and one of my lovers-Jang Hyuk starred in the drama. And also, it is said to be a sequel to one of my all time favs-Six flying dragons. I loved this too. Great acting, great writing too...

So you see, I am a sucker for great masterpiece, will never settle for anything less in Korean movies. Infact, I watch Korean movies based on their ratings. Now I really want to add another masterpiece to my list but I am really confused. After seeing these listed movies, What do you think? Which do you recommend for me?
