It's most interesting that my denotation vs connotation exercise concerning the use of the word "expatriate" has had so much take-up. grin
You have done nothing wrong my friend. I prefer to use immigrant for myself but that is not everybody's preference.

That is absolutely fine. The thing is that YOU choose your descriptor. I feel it was out of pocket for a random person to seek to override the descriptor you chose for yourself.

She shouldn't have done that.

Would you call seasonal farm workers expatriates?
You already know she would never refer to seasonal farm workers as expatriates.

Cyberknight has never shared his future plans with us here but she jumped in to tell him that he is an immigrant. How could she possibly know that if the only basis for "classifying " was plans for returning to Nigeria?

I put it to you ,Zahra ,that your "classification" is also status and colour based ? Am I wrong?

PS: I am too polite to refer to an ass by that name. I was merely referencing an old quote about making assumptions.

Here is the reference

How do you know his intentions, Zahra? You know what they say of assuming? Makes an ass of you, doesn't it.

The polls matter in so far as they are signalling to Labour that it is a likely prospect that they will be a one term government - if they don't fix up. For Labour's support to have waned so badly only 6 months in doesn't bode well. In contrast, Tony Blair enjoyed the public's approval and support until mid way into his second term.

Some fire under their feet is a good thing imo. You can't campaign on CHANGE! and then fail to act when elected.
These polls don't matter nary a jot.
Let them cook.

What would you advise if the person i intend to invite is not up to pension age. My mum owns a small shop but she doesn't pay tax. The business is also not registered. I will be fully responsible for all expenses.
If it's an unregistered business which doesn't pay tax ,I would keep that quiet and apply as " not in employment "

Reform is a one-trick pony. Immigration, immigration, immigration and nothing else. Their economics don't add up, they've no substantive polices.

But again, so was Trump in 2016.

Labour has really frittered away much of its political capital and it's already looking like the next election is Reform's to lose. I think people will not care about their lack of substance and will vote them in as disruptors, on the basis that they're sick of the other parties.

As an expatriate, this is obviously not my preferred outcome, but it needs to be accepted and planned for.
Voters have very very very short memories. They vote based on how full their stomachs are and how heavy their pockets are in the 6 months leading to the election.

These polls are a waste of time. 2028/29 will be the year to watch.

New landmark Yougov poll puts Reform on top - ahead of Labour - for the first time. Starmer's approval rating is extremely dismal at the moment.
Is the UK entering into an era of 3-party politics?
I m very happy about this. Let Farage come on TV tomorrow morning and explain his plans for the NHS( privatisation of course)

Also why he supported Liz Truss disastrous budget?

Why is Reform a Limited company? Where is all the subscription fee going? Ehn?

Also Labour has got 4 yrs and 5 months till next election, polls don't matter

Treadway, like say dis your man na moomoo o

He has agreed to suspend tariffs on Mexico if Mexico deploys 10000 troops to the border.

Problem is Mexico has had 15000 troops deployed since 2019. So they got him to suspend hostilities by agreeing to do even less than they have been doing.

Trump has been had. Like a kindergartner.
Sheinbaum has just had him for breakfast.

I imagine Canada will have him for lunch too.

Trump says the UK is "out of line" but can be worked out. We CANNOT afford tariffs by the US on top of the one we tariffed ourselves with Brexit.

Why oh why have those hamberders not caught up with trump yet 🤔?

You obviously don't read with understanding if not you'd have seen where I said what he did was outrightly wrong. I'm in the health sector myself and I can tell you that the more serious problem here is that that innocent lady would most likely lose her job and then of course there'd be backlash on innocent Nigerians living in India.
That's the problem with most of you Nigerians. You don't read!
Why would she lose her job? The only one who is in the wrong here is this pervert masquerading as a patient.

Your first statement was that this was funny. I find that worrisome for a dr to find this funny.

Would you find it funny if a patient felt you up as you were examining them? That is exactly what is happening to this nurse.

I am alarmed that you cannot see this and I think you are a disgrace to the Medical Profession. Where did you graduate from? Who were your teachers? I would like a word with them. Tueh. Tufiakwa. God forbid .Such a shame.

You actually found this vile example of se**al harassment funny and said the nurse has done wrong?
I wonder who licensed your predatorial butt.

Now let me orientate you: this mudaf^ker is a disgrace to this country and to Mankind. He is the only one who is wrong here. The Nurse has done absolutely nothing wrong here . She is just doing her job and deserves to do it without being at the tender mercies of creeps.

I hope this hospital sees this video and the nurse reports it so that he can be kicked out and blacklisted. Disgusting man he is with his supporters like you.

NB: I think you are a disgrace to the medical profession too and should leave it.

I was just exploring Nigerian territory on Google Earth, and to my shock found inside the dense thick forests of southwest Nigeria, ancient towns completely surrounded by thick forest with no way out!!

Meaning they must be several thousands of years old!!

Incredible.

Are they still inhabited?

Surely not!

But who knows?

Whoever the people that are there have been cut off from the rest of the world for several generations!

I don't have any plans whatsoever of taking her business from her and I didn't make any proposal to her. I asked her for a relationship so that through dating and with time I will know her better to see if I can marry her. The truth is I was attracted by her knowledge of the business and how well she does it. I felt we could make a great team so don't think I don't have anything to offer in all of it. Just two days in the relationship and she started telling me all about the traditional stuff. How would I have known what she's into if not that I got closer to her.
Thanks for your contribution.
Dude, don't date your colleagues. Do your job and get out. Now tell me if she will be happy to teach you now after the relationship did not work out?

Comedy.

Dude you have messed it up. You don't poop where you eat.
You could have asked her to teach you how she succeeded in this business.

But No, you have already plotted the graph in your mind of how you will take over her business. And run it into the ground , abi?

You better backtrack and find somebody else to teach you the business. Don't be throwing proposals about and for God's sake leave your colleagues alone.

RomanceRe: Wetin Dey Give Nigeria Girls Mind And Why Are They Useless {chat Screenshot} by missjekyll: 11:39pm On Jan 30, 2025
liab:
I met a Nigerian girl recently—she had a very innocent and youthful appearance, and nothing about her seemed materialistic. She just turned 20 last December.

Out of curiosity (once again) about Nigerian girls, I decided to test her by chatting with her on my alternative WhatsApp, using a playful "bad boy" vibe. To my greatest surprise, this girl was ready to go to a complete stranger’s house at 9 PM for two rounds—for just 20k.

Me as a guy, I wouldn’t even go to a stranger’s house by 9 PM. What gives them this kind of boldness? Why are so many of them like this? How are we supposed to find a wife in this generation? And if anything happens now, they’ll start playing victim.

This is why I don’t pity most of them—just look at the audacity! Imagine how many men she would have been with before she even reaches 27 or 30, only to then start going to church looking for a "God-fearing man." And mind you, this girl looks extremely innocent.

See part of our chat history below.
Send the money and have it chopped. You think she is not smart

You haven't heard from Kemi in a while?

Well , yesterday she stated in parliament that the PM "misled parliament" i.e lied. That is a serious charge which is not made lightly and was why bojo was impeached.
She should have known this. She had to be checked by the Speaker of the house.

Starmer pounced on her and compared her to a lettuce. I quite agree with him ,she is not long for that seat.

P.S : Just a general word of caution, I would be careful accusing anyone of using AI generated wording. It comes across as very insulting especially to people with English as a second language .
Sounds like " your grammar is so good, there's no way this could be you. You must be using a robot" .

We learn English from the age of 3 in Kindergarten so Yes Our grammar can be that good.

CNN and leftist mainstream media are the ones shouting about it. Silly people like Selena Gomez are the ones making a spectacle about it. Why can't everyone shut up just like they did during the Obama times? Shutting up is so darn easy, why is it so hard for the haters to do that? Anyway, the veil of deceit don burn patapata even before the election, so MOST objective people are not deceived by all these shenanigans and nonsense.

Let him deport who him wan deport in peace, no o, lai lai...headline after headline, reaction after reaction, insult after insult and yet he is the one making noise. How ludicrous!. The man said he would do it before being elected, the man signed executive orders on it a week ago. The man hasn't been making noise about it, na una dey make noise.

Can you see the inconsistency now?

Fix culpability where culpability is jare.
Did Obama deport them in shackles and beat them up? Did he authorise taking Kindergartners and schoolchildren? Even taking people from the sanctuary?

Can you see the difference? Your toddler has gone to school but now ICE has got her? How silly, hope they can change diapers and make bottles. What a silly idea.
How is the funding freeze going? Lol,incompetence

I've got a question pls?
Those that makes an application say on the day the current visa expires, do they still get to work with their employers without them chasing to end the employment because of a now expired RTW? Or how do you navigate that phase of awaiting decision
Please don't apply on day of your visa expiry.
If I m not mistaken, once you apply, you are given a special kind of leave (section 3c continuation of leave)which allows you to continue work till your application is decided.

But why leave it till the last day? My employers will send a cos 6 weeks before your leave expires. Apply early and avoid stress.
