Politics › Kachiwku, Okowa Did Not Meet Us - Niger Delta Avengers by MissNG(op): 10:38am On Jun 17, 2016 |
As we earlier told you on this blog, minister of state for Petroleum Ibe Kachikwu and governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State met some militants (who they claim to be representatives of Niger Delta Avengers militant sect) at the Delta State Government House on Wednesday 15th May. 2016. The objective of the meeting was to curb the rampant pipeline bombings happening in the Niger Delta.
The next day, the Niger Delta Avengers claimed it has destroyed an NNPC oil pipeline in Akwa Ibom. Now, the group is distancing itself from the "militants" who Kachikwu and Okowa met on Wednesday.
According to reliable sources, governor Okowa gave the militants who came in nothing less than 10 commercial buses the sum of N10m for "transport fare" while Kachikwu contributed N5m. Weeks ago, a student of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (formerly known as Anambra State University), Uli was allegedly tortured to death by security men. Today, Monday 13th June 2016, another student named Prosper, took his own life at the Igbariam campus of the school - close to Anambra capital, Awka.
Prosper reportedly died after emptying a bottle of banned insecticide "Sniper" into his stomach. He had sent a message to his girlfriend that he "will be dead by morning."
A neighbor who resides with Prosper at Swagger Lodge, Achala told NGLatest: “Around 12:23am, we started hearing noise from him snoring heavily. At first we thought it was normal until it got unbearable. So we had to enter his room and found him lying on the floor. Then we started praying, after which we made arrangements for him to be taken to the hospital. Before then, we had already forced palm oil down his throat. So on getting to the nurse, she confirmed him dead.
No be today dem begin dey get wahala. He usually complain that the girlfriend is giving her tough time. In fact, he used to cook and take to the girls lodge. He frequents it. He had earlier called the girlfriends best friend and asked her to take good care of his girlfriend for him. The death is a painful one." http://www.nglatest.com/2016/06/anambra-state-university-student.html

Celebrities › Dr. Sid: I Can't Float My Own Record Label Just Because Lil Kesh Did by MissNG(op): 11:03am On Jun 13, 2016 |
In a recent interview with Leadership Newspapers, Marvin Records artiste, Dr. Sid (real name Sidney Onoriode Esiri), said: "People keep asking me this question. Because Lil Kesh has started a record label and now people think I should.
"Well, the truth is most artistes, who start record labels, want to be independent. And the question is why do they want to be independent? If you are in a situation that works, if every of your needs are met, if you have a great boss, your bank account is credited timely, everything is fine, why would you want to leave?
"You might say, I want to have my own label. But that is not based on functionality. A record label should not be something you want to possess. It is business. And it is important to say that it is not beans [easy] to have a record label. It is not beans to take care of yourself, let alone other people.
"Being in Mavin records has not hindered my progress in anyway; it has not stopped the money in my bank account. I give the record label what is due to it and the record label does its part. In the end, it is business. It is a partnership.
"I do not have a problem with anyone opening their own label. If it works for them fine. I am not going to put myself in a situation just because everybody says or is doing so. What I have works." Source: http://www.nglatest.com/2016/06/dr-sid-i-cant-float-my-own-record-label.html

WARRI- SOLDIERS, who laid siege to Oporoza community, traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, at 1.52 am, started shooting indiscriminately at about 8.44 am, causing more confusion in the riverine town.
Villagers, who ran into the forest on sighting them with gunboats were yet to return, as soldiers, who came in search of ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, and members of the Niger Delta Avengers, have taken over the community.
Ijaw leader, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, told Vanguard on phone at about 9.00 am: “Soldiers have started shooting in Oporoza as I speak to you now, I do not know the casualty, but they are shooting right now, the whole town is in turmoil.”
His words: “I am crying on behalf of my people, we have been saying before now that we do not know what the military is looking for in Oporoza, they have come two times before now in the last few weeks. We said then that they were looking for excuse to start shooting, now they are shooting, we do not know what will happen after the shooting.”
National President of Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, Mr. Austin Ozobo, also raised the alarm that soldiers were shooting in Oporoza and called on the Federal Government to call the soldiers to order.
A villager, who called our reporter on phone, said: “The military is currently shooting randomly in Oporoza but we do not know whether it was aimed at anybody because we are still in the forest. We ran into the forest this morning. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/panic-soldiers-shoot-random-oporoza/

Crime › Yinusa Names Ese's Baby 'Fatima' From Prison by MissNG(op): 9:58am On May 28, 2016 |
The lad who took 13-year-old Ese Oruru from her parents' house in Bayelsa, converted her to Islam and married her off in Kano, Yinusa Yellow, is currently in Okaka Medium Security Prisons, Yenogoa after failing to meet bail demands following his arrest and subsequent charging to court. Ese, now 14, gave birth to a light-complexioned baby girl on Thursday morning at the Government House Clinic Yenogoa, Bayelsa State. Yinusa, the child's father was said to have named the baby "Fatima" after hearing of the delivery, NGLatest learnt from a prison source.
The source said:
“Yinusa has been told about the birth of a baby girl by Ese Oruru. He was called from Kano and told that he has a daughter after the Internet pictures were confirmed to be true. He was very elated over the news and he immediately gave her the name Fatima after the daughter of Prophet Mohammed and because of the circumstances surrounding the birth of the girl, which he believes is divine.
The name Fatima is the personification of high virtues and purity. As I talk to you, I can tell you that he is eagerly waiting to see the daughter.” Source: http://www.nglatest.com/2016/05/yinusa-names-ese-orurus-baby-from.html

Girl Who Just Wrote WAEC Electrocuted After High Tension Fell On Her
The sickening positioning of the high tension over a residential house is what baffles me. On Saturday 21st May 2016, 14-year-old Deborah Faleke was instantly killed after one of the high tension cables that ran above their compound at Fagbeyiro Street in the Alakuko area of Lagos State fell and electrocuted her, NGLatest has learnt.
Deborah had concluded sitting for her WAESCCE only weeks ago.
Her father, Pastor Ademola Faleke said:
“On Friday, I went out of Lagos State for a ministration. So, the girl went to stay with her eldest sister on Fagbeyiro Street. That was not her first time.
“I was at Iyana-Ipaja on Saturday on my way back when I was called on the telephone and told about the incident. There was no rainfall. Deborah was not sent on any errand. She was just passing through the gate when the wire fell on her. The marks on her body showed that the wire fell on her head.
“She was rushed to a hospital. The workers there said they did not have adequate equipment. So she was rushed to a second private hospital on Adegbola Street, where she later died. The doctor issued a death certificate to us.
“She just finished secondary school; she was also my interpreter. She was very active in church. I want the electricity distribution company to at least show some concern. My daughter, who is my joy, has been taken away by a careless electrical connection.” Source: http://www.nglatest.com/2016/05/girl-who-just-wrote-waec-electrocuted.html
