Ofunaofu: Nigerians are paying the price of a tyrannical regime.
But history has never been particularly kind to tyrants. Different countries, different eras, same ending. Sooner or later, every tyrant meets the consequences of tyranny.
Elrufai was a tyrant! Today, Elrufai is in opposition and in detention. Now, you see him as a freedom fighter! Is it that those in opposition cannot be branded as tyrants?
Babangidapikin: Someone like Oga Amaechi probably have a lot of people depending on him, it is also an assumption to say he siphoned billions under President Buhari, because most of the Railway contracts were carried out by the Chinese Government firms and I very much doubt they will offer bribes. You need to understand not all elderly people depend on their children's money, some are very contented and they go through what every other person goes through.
Assumption you say! Someone that bought nomination form for a hundred million in 2023! Where did he get the money from! How much was his salary? You can accuse Tinubu of killing his mother but it's an assumption that he stole money! Hypocrite
louken: Oga, Obi said he met debt of 16m USD when he took over as governor. By the time he was leaving office, the total debt, including the one he met, had risen to 30m USD. Excluding the cash in the bank, he left 155m USD in foreign investment that has been yielding returns of 10m USD per year for Anambra State while the principal remains intact.
If a father left debt of 30m USD and assets worth 155m USD to his son, wouldn't the son be too stupid to claim that his late father left debts for him.
The person that should even be arguing with Obi is Obiano who Obi handed over to. Soludo is saying there IS no money in the ecological funds account - present tense. Why didn't he say there was no money in the account as at when Peter Obi left office? Is it that difficult to get the bank statement and prove to us that the said money was never deposited. If the funds were deposited but has now been depleted, under whose tenure and watch was it depleted.
Go to Soludo's page and see how the good people of Anambra State are blasting him.
Dude is digging his political grave without realizing it
He left $155 million dollars! From were did he get the money form? Or does money grow on trees? It cannot be from IGR! That's a fact! Then where did the money come from? Borrowing of course! He took loans from international bank, spent some then declare the rest a savings. Which is an act of 419 scam in terms of financial accounting.
louken: They have started contradicting themselves. So you people are beginning to agree that he saved money. I thought you people were swearing with your lives that he left debts.
Oga, he did not save! Is it from his scrappy IGR that he saved from? Where did the savings come from! It was borrowed money he declared as savings! The truth is now out!
He did not even save money! It has come to our knowledge that he borrowed money, kept it in a bank with vested interest and declared the balance as savings without declaring the liabilities when he wanted to leave office. The man is a scam! Who does accounting by declaring only assets without declaring liabilities!
Stephen0mozzy: It is unfair to ask a man to drop his ambitions for the aspirations of another sha.
But if Atiku could really just throw his weight behind the People's Choice, he'll actually earn his place as a True Statesman in the immortal history of Nigeria, post-Tinibulation.
Alas! Everyone thinks they're the Chosen One that can save everyone else.
Modified: Isn't it amazing that all the people that quoted me just assumed that by People's Choice, I'm talking about Peter Obi 😂😂. Obi is truly living rent free in your head.
So una delusion atleast don let una accept that BAT is not the choice.
Only a failure would take a loan and keep it in a bank then turn around to claim it is savings! As if he's not going to pay it back. Obi is too deceptive to be a State governor let alone a president
How we are going to get their universally is another matter.
Do you think everything will remain the same? Price of commodities will follow suit, then we'll start all over again! This is because the increment is not coming from an increase in productivity. The government will print more money to pay, leading to devaluation of the Naira. Any increment should come from productivity not printing of more Naira
oluwagbogodada: ‘Voodoo economy’ — Makinde says old N18,000 minimum wage could buy more than current N70,000
Makinde spoke on Friday while addressing civil servants at the government house in Agodi, Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, after returning from his annual leave.
The governor said the old N18,000 minimum wage during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan could buy more than the current N70,000.
A month before Makinde was sworn in for his first term as governor of Oyo, the late former President Muhammadu Buhari increased the minimum wage for civil servants from N18,000 to N30,000 per month in April 2019.
Nearly five years later, President Tinubu raised the minimum wage to N70,000 in July 2024 as part of efforts to cushion the impact of the removal of the petrol subsidy.
In August, Taiwo Oyedele, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, said the economic reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy, had mobilised N15.8 trillion in resources for the federation between June 2023 and December 2025.
Makinde, however, said the increase in minimum wage had not effectively tackled the economic hardship caused by the removal of the petrol subsidy.
“It’s been a very challenging period, economically. Yes, FAAC has gone up. But when I came in as governor, the first salary bill I signed was N4.5 billion,” he said.
“Today, the salary bill is N18 billion. The minimum wage as of the time I came was N18,000. Today, it is N80,000. But the N18,000 of that time can even buy more than what the current N70,000 can do today.
“That is the kind of voodoo economy that they have handed over to Nigeria.
“So, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), we have to sit down. Our people are challenged. That is the reality. The resources are limited.”
In view of the economic situation, the governor said his administration would extend its current wage award to workers across the state for another three months, while transport subsidies would also continue.
‘WHY IS HE SCARED OF HANDING OVER TO THE VICE PRESIDENT’
The governor also criticised Tinubu over what he described as the president’s failure to formally transfer power to Vice-President Kashim Shettima while away from the country.
Makinde compared the situation with his own recent annual vacation, during which he said he handed over to Bayo Lawal, his deputy.
“I went on vacation, but I handed over to my deputy governor. I am running to be the president of Nigeria because I have the capacity,” Makinde said.
“They’re trampling on the constitution of Nigeria. If the president is out of the country, why is he scared of handing over power to the vice-president?
“I went away for one month, but my team was able to carry the responsibility of running the state. So, tell him (Tinubu) to follow the constitution of Nigeria.
“He swore at the Eagle Square to abide by the constitution. If the president is not around, hand over the government to the vice-president. That is the constitution.”
It's surprising that a governor will be saying this rubbish! A governor that depends on the federal government to pay salary for that matter! Why can't he increase the salary of workers in his state! Is there a law that says one cannot go above the minimum wage? It is called minimum for a reason!
saintkel: Same same debt management office said Lagos have a debt of 907 million dollars....ok Obi had 30 million...why ain't we looking at Lagos debt?
You know that this your question is silly! Lagos state or any governor of Lagos state has never claim not to owe debt. Debt is not a bad thing. What is bad is lying to us that you did not owe anyone and campaigning with it!
MemoriesAndMe: How come its when its election period all these allegations come up? Why didnt nobody say nothing about eachother 2 or 3 years ago?
Election time is when they suddenly remember what one politician did or didnt do,and the citizens suddenly start to discuss a new topic that makes them make irrational decisions on whom to vote for.
Yeah! It's a time when you also remember Tinubu's certificate
nairalanda1: So essentially, the smuggling out of the country is creating a relative scarcity which is pushing up the prices...long and short of the tale.
Yeah, I'm not surprised there is smuggling, the only good thing about it now is that government is no longer paying subsides, so we aren't subsidising everyone and anyone. But at the end, the CUstoms needs to be up and doing.
Still Nigeria cannot stop smuggling, as most smugglers are a guy with a 50 kg keg of petrol...carrying it across the border. Not just the big tankers. Unless the government is ready to enclose Nigeria with the equivalent of the Berlin wall...the Berlin wall 2000 that the GDR leadership was planning for the 1990's that would have included among other things robot controlled guns operating by being triggered by motion sensors, anD cctv cameras everywhere...smuggling is going to happen. The fact that subsidy is gone means that it isn't being done at the expense of the treasury.
Still, a trick we could use is to charge tarrifs on petrol going out of the country...as much as 30%. Ouch.
Oga we're not subsidising Nigerians but we're subsidising our neighbours. This is because government isn't collecting any tax from the product. For example, road tax isn't collected! Therefore, deterioration of the roads by these trucks is borne by government alone to the favour of our neighbours. Another is pollution tax. After absolving all the pollution in our environment we now give it freely to our neighbours through smuggling! Do you now see that smuggling is to our detriment!
helinues: Stop arguing blindly. We have argued this severally on this forum and also presented facts to support it
Infact, all the sectors in the state when Obi was the governor didn't function the way they supposed to. Name any sector where Peter Obi performed better and let's argue about it.
Infact, Obi generated the lowest IGR for the state till today
He generated the lowest IGR while he was taxing market women blind! The notorious upper iweka was full of mad men who advised him! Yet all he could do was to deport Northerners! He challenged doctors to a 13 months strike and refused to build community schools, all because he didn't want to pay teachers! All he was interested in was saving the state's fund in a bank he had vested interest. A man that refused to fund the state inec for 7 years and asked his successor to pay him 7.5 billion! Is that kinɗ of man suitable for Nigeria?
A good anchor doesn't need argue about being right or wrong. A good anchor throws the question and allow the audience to decide if the answer is wrong or right. Oseni lacks this quality. He wants to claim right at all times even if he lacks the3 p competence in what he's saying
Squirrel1: Fuel was sold 1500 today in kaduna sha. What are you rallying behind? Failed economy?
Would Obi or Atiku bring the price down? If yes, how? Where would the money come from? Mark you, government does not exist to be paying Dangote money in any form (subsidy or whatever). Dangote is supposed to be 5he one paying government.
Oga Atiku is talking rubbish. Whether you subsidise production or consumption, subsidy would not work! Yes price would come down but how do you prevent diversion of finished products to neighbouring countries? Because what that means is that we are subsidising our neighbours! Or does he think the boys will not do business? There's no way he can prevent bunkering! Those creeks are porous!
Do you think fuel queues and black market price will not return if subsidy is reintroduced? Dangote will stop local sales. NNPC will be the only one importing. Scarcity will arise and black market will shot up the price far more than the unsubsidized product.
fergie001: Exclusive interview with Peter Obi (on AriseTV)
Obi should be discussing his ideas to us! Not monitoring Tinubu like a monitoring spirit! Even if Tinubu spends 3 weeks abroad no problem! Obi said he'll stay in the bush to fight terrorist. Is that not the same thing? Those that would argue that staying in the bush is work, is obi going to carry a gun? Or contribute to the security enforcement? No. The president is only doing useful work when he's implementing policies! Not when he's jumping up and down like a rat!
Sheuns: So if a woman is taking forever to cook a food while her children and husband are hungry, it becomes a problem when the family decide to ask questions on when exactly the food will be ready?
The children can go hungry for all she care because she’s cooking and has no definite answer to when the food will be ready?
If you're expecting only one woman to cook the food that a thousand persons would eat, off course it would take time. Also, given the fact that a minority of those thousand persons are saboteurs who sneak into the kitchen to quench the fire then cause commotion to distract the woman! Would the food not take a longer time?
Those that like using the word "Nigerians" in their headlines when it comes to Tinubu! Can we now change the headlines to "Obidients slam Nigerian youths for blocking Peter Obi! " Does that make sense?
This is really insulting to Nigeria as a sovereign nation! We don't need Trump's approval for policy acceptance in Nigeria. Atiku should sell his policies to Nigerians not to Trump
I wonder what all these subsidy campaigners would do when the crude dries up. This is the time to invest money from crude oil sales! Not the time to share through subsidy because the crude will not last forever!
Lovelink1991: He apologize to Peter Obi and Nigerians who are supporting Peter Obi who must have been offended by his actions.
Okay. But I think he would have done the apology to the Obidient movement or Obi supporters as you said. Because, it's like a Tinubu supporter saying he's apologizing to Nigerians for something he did to APC or one of its affiliates.
Lovelink1991: Flag boy who angrily withdrew his support from peter obi and the NDC and burnt the flag of NDC over alleged rift with mama pee has come out to apologized to peter obi, Kwankwaso, NDC leadership and Nigerians that he is very sorry for his emotional misconduct.
Apologize to Nigerians how? Is he not a Nigerian? Doesn't he have the right of choice? Why apologize to Nigerians! He can apologize to Obi or whomever but not to Nigerians. This topic is stupid!
franchasng: He never mentioned importation of fuel.
He said local pricing of our locally produced crude sold to our local refineries is high for a crude oil producing nation and he cited examples like Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
You guys enjoy suffering, how I wished it could be possible to divide Nigeria so Tinubu can rule some of you that love suffering and we the sensible Nigerians that want the best have our own preferred leaders.
All you guys know is to be hailing failure Tinubu blindly just because of tribalism and unnecessary online supremacy fight with Southeasterners that have never added a dime to your personal lives
Local pricing of our locally produced crude oil you say? Oga, yes the crude is produced locally but it doesn't belong to us 100%. Of the 1.5 million barrels of crude produced daily, only about 800,000 barrels belong to us. Of the 800,000, about 40-50% is encumbered! How much do you want to subsidise again? How would government pay workers and carry out infrastructural development?
The irony of this is that Obi refused to pay doctors minimum wage while Atiku stole Nigeria blind! Which of these two can do better when we all know that one is incompetent while the other is a criminal!
matrix199: Only if you're cursed that's when you won't vote for competence, transparency and accountability.
How on earth will millions of hungry voters leave their homes just to vote for the same person who, may not have created economic woes but, worsened the economic woes in the country. His Excellency, Peter Obi is positioned to win this coming election once it's free and fair. We simply need the international communities to press and ensure the election is free and fair.
Stop talking nonsense! Obi and the word "competent" cannot be use in the same sentence!
