Leave technical terms, GDP et al first. In common man parlance you can't spend more than you earn. That's what majority of Nigerians understand. It is GDP, per capita kini kan kini kan that the government is using to justify their argument that there is no hunger.

It would have been more interesting to also show the IGR of each state and wages/pensions owed/outstanding so that the percentage of the curses accruing can be accurately calculated.

When will Nigeria ever get close to resembling those nation when we want to languish in subsidy mediocrity rather than embrace reforms, painful in the short term, that will stimulate innovation, productivity and solutions-porvistiin nous Nigeria needs to compete and thrive in today's global economy?

Obdurately focusing on petrol price alone misses the big picture per where Nigeria needs to get to enroute to being a developed nation. We need great transport, steady power, proliferation of SMEs, a strong currency based on economic success anchored firmly on manufacturing and exporting more good and services than we import. Etc, etc.

How will all those happen with the subsidy lifestyle some want Nigeria to persevere with which only favours the outlook of Northern leaders who feel government money should basically provide a big and free food parlour for all?
