Lemme look for the comment. grin
They couldn't done, they probably were hoping for EFCC to place him on a one way ticket to Kujeville but as someone who has major F ups to treat, he agreed to make refunds & went back to the battle front...

I feel for PDP faithfuls, this can't be the best of times for them...

"Shekau" Sheriff has made up his mind to frustrate PDP!! smiley grin

Why is Jonathan who brought his "bosom friend" into the "party" he was entrusted with & later completely finished pretending like all is uhuru?

I have a feeling that this drama is playing out so PDP can be craftily destroyed so some can conveniently float a new party without fear of reproach or backlash!!!

The aim of these people, especially the ex govs is to create a state of anarchy, steal all their state resources & come to their "retirement home" & just ball out, live large& thump their noses at the law...

My sister don't go far I have a friend that graduated at at age 22 in 1998, started working in bank IT department at age 24, he became a senior manager at 34 in 2010 left banking industry at 2012 to join a parastatal as deputy director IT, he may be promoted as director any moment from now and he is just 40. Is this guy not on fast lane? And guess what? He is son of nobody only his excellence and fortune promotes him. So there are exceptional people
Bros, apples & oranges!! Civil service is different.

HAH:
The 8 years policy are actually limiting the full utilization of those on fast lane which are usually exceptional personalities, just imagine a genius was employed at 23 and was on the fast lane and became a director at 43, to let go of such person at 51 years old when he may have attained the mandatory 8 years, is short changing the country of.experiance because to me at 51 a man is at his optimal period, the good thing is that the 35|60 years retirement is still in force.

As you said it all depends on the way one looks at it
Which fast track & exceptional? Abeg nor let me laugh, how many graduate & done with service by 23?

The only people that fast track are Doctors who enter service on level 12, 90% of the rest are not on merit, they are products of "quota", abeg leave matter..... some people know how these things go!! lipsrsealed

I'm pro Bubu, but this is a crazy policy overturn.

It all depend on the angle from which one looks at it, it has been a subject of an intensed debate in my office today, the Government should at least give us the dignity of why it came up with such polity, it doesn't change the mandatory 35/60 years of retirement though.
Of course but don't forget the people that transfer from their state CS up two levels and become directors when their set are still ADs cos of quota & system failure, what about Drs? Taking hope away from people is bad!!

I'm disappointed!! So sad..

Boshemann:
Like seriously?

Biko, read again.
Chigold101 is 101% on point... Now the civil service will return to to the era of one person transferring from state civil service from level 12 to 14, short time attains AD, DD and director at age 45, which means the person will stay for 15yrs (till age 60) thereby blocking chances of others progressing beyond DD.

Buhari's advisers did him & the nation a major disservice (no pun intended)

Note, There is little argument for Merit, everything boils down to Federal character & quota to advance to full directorship & perm sec positions....

This is one policy that isn't well thought out.

@ Trillville,

I don't want to go into long debate cos I believe I've already articulated my position & my reasons... but I don't want to leave you hanging, won't be cool...

I still maintain that govt doesn't pay enough to tax civil servants, there is also no record/database available to tax the informal sector & the reason FiRS/CBN can be so brazen is because of weakness in the system & our collective mentality ("help your family & friends when you get into office"wink not because of taxes or what have you...

Tax who heavily? A graduate on 38k salary that is already in debt by the 17th of every month? You really think if the govt could they wouldn't? The countries that tax heavily have mechanisms for personal & societal development in place.

Naira didn't lose vaue at the 199 it was pegged at, it was overvalued & we all can agree on that, has naira not been trading @ 380 on the streets? How many people could walk into CBN & get approval for 199 as at last week?

Permit me to stop here cos we will only agree to disagree..... thanks.

OK, as a sign of respect, I have nothing to give him but I have already voted for him in 2019 only waiting for the formality of electioneering.

Politics › PDP Leadership Tussle; Sheriff, Markarfi Refuse To Shift Ground. by modath(op): 6:08am On Jun 20, 2016
The war of attrition between the Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff-led group shows little sign of abating.

Findings by The PUNCH, in Abuja, on Sunday indicated that none of the two sides appeared willing to nominate members to serve on the Peace Committee.

The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, had after a meeting with both men in his office on Friday suggested the setting up of the committee.

It was suggested that each of the groups should submit the names of four persons to serve on the committee.

Our correspondent gathered that hardliners in both camps were insisting that to accede to the suggestion of the IGP would be akin to accepting defeat.

Our correspondent gathered that when the issue was brought up by members of the Makarfi-led committee, stakeholders within the group resisted.

A source sympathetic to Makarfi’s cause who pleaded anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter said, “It was rejected outright. How can we who enjoy the backing of more than 99.99 per cent of our party members negotiate our mandate? The people who brought Sheriff in the first place have come out to say go, your tenure has expired thank you but he wants to stay put you want us to negotiate on what terms?”

A former PDP National Vice Chairman (South South), Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, said if the law was the basis of the argument, Sheriff should be the party chairman because an Abuja High Court whose ruling had neither been appealed or vacated “pronounced him chairman till 2018.”

Ojougboh however said all stakeholders especially the dramatis personae must be prepared to make concessions if the crisis must be resolved in the interest of the party.

He said, “I have always said no one can take it all. All of our members be they the concerned members led by Prof. Tunde Adeniran, Jerry Gana and Ibrahim Mantu must be part of the solution to our problems.

“The governors’ group led by Makarfi now, must be part of the solution; the Sheriff group must be part of it.”

The spokesman for the Makarfi-led committee, Dapo Adeyeye, said the committee was not aversed to peace but that the committee needed to consult widely before knowing its next move on the issue.

“We are consulting. Remember, all the constitutionally-recognised organs of the party including the BoT, the Caucus, and our governors and so on set up this committee and we were given a mandate.”

Speaking on the issue, Sheriff’s Media Adviser, Inuwa Bwala said, “We have not submitted any names. While we welcome all party members who are ready to work with us to rebuild the party, Sheriff is one man who holds the rule of law in high regards.”

Nomads should have chosen to continue to wear cowskin & walk around bare footed since they want to remain in the stone ages.

I used to be sympathetic to the itinerants till I was made to realise those blasted cows actually belong to some rich mallams up north who will rather not invest but continue to hide behind archaic culture to profit without putting in the work.

Nomads have free movement, show me the section of the constitution that grants their animals same rights & destruction of people's livelihood & Stop comparing human movements to animals, it's insensitive & ridiculous...
