@COLD,
I hope that comment wasn't sarcastic,do you want to know cos you want to cheer on or get cheeky,anyway between oct last year and today i have lost 20kg.
@Romeo.
i didn't gain weight,i just stagnated at 79-80, i believe its the regular cardio that helped.i have now adopted a regular cardio routine, i do 30 mins of brisk[i mean brrrrriiissskk]walking then do 10 mins of interval sprinting. i weighed in at 78.2 kg this morning.
@EJA,
HOW IS THE LITTLE BUN IN THE OVEN?

@romeo,
how are you doing?.
my weight has refused to go down but my waist measurement at the indentation is now 35" around the indentation but not going to tell you about what i get at thebelly button,its 3, and my backside is now looking like a dump truck.LOL
Got hooked on tasty fiesta fiesta for about two weeks now thinking it was baked[the dripping oil should have a dead give away] but a friend happened to be in their kitchen and saw them frying it, i promptly gave up the addiction,am now hooked on corn and coconut.

Welcome peter,
I have been running around like a headless chicken for the past few days redecorating our house,been walking around a lot but has done nothing structured.peace out.
Health › Re: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by modath(f): 7:46pm On Jul 28, 2010
I boil it with the stew and it cooks well,the chicken i get are the locally grown ones, i buy them live,kill and defeather them at the market,they are always fat less,the agric ones are fat filled,instead buy turkey wings and remove the skin before eating it.
Eja,Can you pls stop dodo,its soaks a lot of oil while being fried,spaghetti and indomie am not so comfortable with either,if you are having these kinds of food,though have them back to back,you processed food and their digestive issues.

I did the gym stuff today,35 min on the treadmill 6.5k and incline level 10,elliptical for 20 min,bike for 5mins,did weights and a Lil bit of tummy exercises.am still feeling warm 3 hrs after.
Health › Re: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by modath(f): 8:20pm On Jul 27, 2010
with my mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Eja,you are like my friend who absolutely will not touch any kind of fish that didn't get any oil baptism,the only fried stuff i miss is fried eggs,used to love it,now i can only have it occasionally,i do it in a non stick frying pan so i need a lil oil.
If you don't like the fish,eat smoked or dried fish,the little oil the fish absorbs while being fried might sabotage your efforts.
Health › Re: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by modath(f): 8:28pm On Jul 26, 2010
Eja,
If you can don't fry it,i buy Titus too[carton] cos my 4 yr old son doesn't like meat and my 18 months old daughter jaws aren't yet ready to chew,for my hubby,nieces and myself we buy local chicken and turkey,cow leg and smoked fish.nothing is fried in my house cos its total healthy living.
Your pancake idea sounds good to me,don't know Romeo's opinion .
My soreness was caused by the lunges i did at the gym with 5kg dumbbells in each hand,the trainer made me stretch my legs to the maximum at each turn and my butt and back thigh muscles were on fire since Saturday,its easing off now.
My food intake has been sensible as usual,my weight has been swinging from 79-80 kg,i don't really care cos my waist measurement at the indentation is now 35" while around the navel its 37.5,and 38 at the hipbone,under bust is 33.5.all these is in the morning though,it increases as the day goes on especially as its getting to TTOM.[T MI]

Romeo,
I did 25 min on the treadmill at 8.00k p.h,rode the bike for 5 min and did elliptical for 20 min,it was showing 123 for 65% heart rate and 152 for 80% for about 15 min i averaged 160,only thing was that i felt it but i wasn't breathless,has the machine gone loco or what?.
I did my unstructured weight lifting as usual,squats and the lunges that has made it difficult for me to sit.joined the aerobics class for a 20 min of 80's disco mid tempo aerobics and 5 min of high impact,the 5 min almost sent me into cardiac arrest.
I am not doing any tummy moves other than the vacuum cos my C-S scar has been feeling tight,dont wanna rip anything apart cos neighbour hood gossips will have a field day.

@Romeo,welcome back,we sure missed you.i know the way you are prescribing is the bestest but its going to be quite difficult cos of the kind of country we live in. o.k examine this
1.I'd like to measure my body fat percentage
2.be able to measure the calories in okro,vegetable ewedu e.t.c
3.use a food scale to measure eba,wheatmeal,amala e.t.c
4.get people to train with for a 5k marathon.
5.get some healthy veggies i see on oyinbo websites.
All these no effiinnngggg way.

Romeo,do you know so many people have been really thumbing their noses at me cos they feel am obsessive about my look,talking about low self esteem e.t.c.A nosy overweight neighbour was advising me the other day that i should take it easy cos, since i have 2 children it is a given as an African that i be overweight or obese.men are the only ones who are really appreciative of the efforts i put in,the women are so effing envious and jealous.

Romeo, i wish i can have the kind of structure you are talking about but its just not possible with the kind of life style i have,these i can sustain for a long time.Thanks for your input.

I am going to the gym tommorrow and i am not leaving until i can barely walk.LOL.

Hi everyone
@Romeo,where art thou,i see you on other threads ooooooooooo!!!!!!.anyway i want to report my weight to you its been swinging between 79-80.5 for a week now, it stayed on 80.0kg for days,went down to 79kg for about two days but it hasn't been stable thereafter.warn it for me oooooooo LOL.

Yesterday i had beans in the morning,wheat meal,fish and vegetable for lunch,and fried rice and turkey for dinner,had a cucumber at about 10 p.m cos i got the munchies.
went jogging for 30 mins,skipped for 10 ,did squats and lunges for about 10 mins,did 40 female push ups and 50 leg raises.
Romeo,i regret signing up in the gym cos its stopping me from weight training on my own,i used to lunge and squat with my dumbbells,do some other series as well,but i now tell myself the machine is more efficient but i haven't been able to get there for the past 10 days.Thank God for my skipping rope and the open road.

Today,i had some of the left-over fried rice for breakfast,a wrap of pounded yam and vegetable stew with beef for lunch,snack was watermelon and cucumber,for now i don't know what dinner will be .

I brisk walked for 40 mins.

Hello everyone,
I have been AWOL too for the same reason as Eja[do you use starcomms too?].anyway i cant really recall what i had before yesterday but i assure everyone i was good,
Today i had beans for breakfast,2 roasted corn for snack,lunch was wheatmeal and grilled chicken breast,dinner i had 3 slices of yam and stewed fish sauce.
I didn't eventually have the sharwama and it wasn't because of the calories,it was cos i was busy,and couldn't trust anyone i send to get it right[no mayo] i believe that sharwama can be great if you only have bread,cabbage,chicken, onion rings and spices,all these are quite good and nutritious but people will likely not want it without the mayo.
I think of potato and the bad rap its getting,when people take something fibrous and healthy and turn it into caloric bombs a la chips,fries,mashed potato e.t.c ugh what a shame.
I am going to re-introduce it into my meals,i got very tired of it in my early lifestyle switch era cos i was having it every other day.
I will always continue to thank God that i don't have a sweet tooth,it has made things a lot easier,

Hello my good Fiful,hope y'all doing great.was trawling the net found this-

http://alwyncosgrove.com/2010/01/hierarchy-of-fat-loss/.

Hope you like it,i did.

Yesterday,14/07/10, i walked for an hour,had lipton tea and milk with cucumber for breakfast cos i was in a bit of a hurry,but had moin-moin,fried rice and and roasted chicken for lunch,had rice,beans and boiled egg for dinner.

Today i didn't do my workout in the A.M,so am [hoping] to do 30 mins brisk walking in the evening,had rice in the morning,and i just had my lunch of mashed beans,going to do wheat meal/amala/eba with vegetable soup and turkey for dinner.

I don't ever log water cos it is like air to me,cant live without it.one other thing is that though i was never a junk food person,the only way am having any is if i get don't pay for it.moreover there are lots of options,like am craving for shawarma for the past two days, i will just have it without the mayo when i go for it on saturday.

I am so so sad right now,cos i used to think am quite tall[5.7] but my bubble was busted at the gym today cos my height is just 167cm,so so sad,thank God i was done with my workout otherwise i would have gone back home dejected.
Log for today
Ran on the treadmill @9.7 km for 30 mins and at 8.2km for 20 then walked 6.5k.m for 10.rode the stair climber for 3 mins,did weight machine[3 sets,10 reps on two different machines] squats 80,leg raises 20 reps 3x,plank 40 secs 4X.then joined the aerobics class for another 15 mins.
Had beans in the morning,corn on the cobs[1] and a boiled egg for lunch, snacked on pear,just had my dinner of wheatmeal,okro soup and Titus fish[i enjoyed it].
Weighed 81.5 kg fully clothed and kitted in the gym today at home in the buff am 80kg,so i believe my scale is on point.
I believe the way to know if a scale is okay is to weigh something you are completely sure,it the result is accurate,then its good,if not dump it.
N.B==Anyone in the FCT should check out the Abuja Nat stadium gym,its super nice and the instructors are always very eager to assist
Health › Re: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by modath(f): 8:17pm On Jul 09, 2010
@ROMEO,
Thanks for your concern but i do not live in Lagos,i live in Abuja and the gym here is super classy and world class.
I dont have the structure you are talking about cos ,Romeo i am not in i do not want any thing to beat myself over the head with. i am not in any biggest loser challenge neither am i preparing for any movie role, i am someone who hasn't been diagnosed yet but is fully aware that i have OCD[obsessive compulsive disorder],if i do not complete the number of reps or sets am supposed to daily i will get stressed out,
I remember when i got my pedometer and made a vow to take at least 12,500-15,000 steps daily, i had to go out one night at past 10 p.m[i had done over 10,000 already] so i could complete it despite all the other household chores i did that day,was my husband pissedhuhhuh?!!!!!!!!!.
Romeo let's continue with it this way , i will try to do what you adviced any day i can but making no promises,you will just continue to encourage me and correct me when i mess up,its working,its just not fast.i am 80kg dot at the moment,and everyone is telling me my stomach is looking better.
Today i didn't go the gym cos there is another punishing aerobics tomorrow[Saturday],so i worked out at home.i did l 60 leg raises[3 sets of 20 reps} and plank did 2 60 sec reps and one was for 52 secs,cos my friend was counting super slow.i isolated my abs[crunch less crunch]thrice for 30 secs each time did 50 squats and 20 lunges.jogged for 32 secs.
Had wheat bread sandwich [cucumber and tomatoes] with skimmed milk in the morning ,drank garri and ate beans in the afternoon,then had wheat meal,vegetable and chicken for dinner,didn't snack at all cos i was busy.

Eja,
How are you,the Lord is your strength and congrats for the new scale, i hope it gives you a new motivational boost,you can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!no shaking.
Health › Re: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by modath(f): 6:59am On Jul 09, 2010
Eja,
I didn't mean to offend or distress you and if i may have inadvertently done either am sorry,but i was just reiterating what both you and romeo had posted,you are daunted by the figures and when i reviewed some of your post, i realised that you strayed a bit too often with processed foods.
E.G==Horlicks, maltina,chicken pie,indomie, nkwobi,egusi soup e.t.c may slow down your objective.
Dont get demotivated even when you plateau,just keep at it,the weight will come off,one other thing is to not set time limit[the people on oyinbo websites with their 2-3lbs weekly weight loss can be demoralising] just take each day as it comes.

Romeo,
8/7/10
BF==Lipton+2 teaspoons of skimmed milk with cucumber.LUNCH==I wrap of pounded yam with vegetable soup and cow head,Dinner i had rice, i also Took yesterday off cos the wednesday work out was intense and wanted to let my muscles rest.just took a leisurely 30 minutes walk.i am going to work the gym today and will fill you in later.

Romeo 4 real,
I had my babies two 28 months apart and my Lil girl is 18 months,while my boy will be 4 in two months time.
I just registered in the national stadium gym yesterday,and i spoke to the manager about kick-boxing and he told me he will try and work something out.
Yesterday i ran on the treadmill for 40 min at 10k p.h and rode the bike for another 10 mins did the lat pull down and overheard press of 3 sets each for 20 reps on my own then joined the structured aerobics[total body workout] class for another 1 hr of punishment[it was intense]
B\F==Pap and beans with coffee and skimmed milk.
Lunch=white rice[with carrot, peas and green pepper] and chicken.
dinner=MOIN moin and a fistful of garri.
I snacked on garden egg and cucumber.
Drank my usual 2 bottles of 1.5 litres of water.

N.B===A friend weighs 70 kg is 5.7 but has a 36" incH WAIST her bmi is 24 but according to the chart she has abdominal obesity,so she is working on her stomach,but the truth is that she is glaringly apple shaped as her waist and ass is non-existent.

Eja,
Dont think of the amount you have to lose,the journey of a thousand miles start with a single movement and woman to woman we both know you didn't put on the weight all at once and your diet is , moreover exercise is never going to compensate for a bad diet cos no one is ever[except trained athletes]going to work out enough to shed calories gained from over indulgence.
Health › Re: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by modath(f): 8:09pm On Jul 05, 2010
@Romeo4 real,
How are you doing? am not saying am not overweight,am just stressing that my waist measurement is more than the average for people my weight and slightly heavier than i am.

1.I haven't had any malt drink in about 5-6 weeks,all am saying is that,malt and coca-cola GINGER ALE is the only sugared stuff i can tolerate.

2.i do cardio 5days a week, and there have been times i exercise all week long,that is the reason i was able to drop 17kg in 9 moths,it doesn't count for much but i did it the healthy way,no drugs or fad dieting involved.

3. I do three sets of each exercise everyday,,cos those are the ab muscle toning exercises that ALL the websites[JILLIAN MICHAELS,GUNNAR PETERSON,CALORIECOUNT.ABOUT.COM,DENISE AUSTIN,DAILYSPARK, e.t.c]all prescribe for my situation.The kickboxing i shadow box as i saw it done on t.v,so i concur that it might not be as effective and accurate as can be.

4.I said i have always had protruding stomach from long long time ago,I never said i have always had separated abdominals,all am saying is that i have it now,i researched it did the test and two fingers get lodged in the ridge or dome in my belly when i do the exam,check the internet ,its everywhere.

5.My Bmi is being worked on,but it really doesn't bother me,cos lowering my waist measurement to 33-34" is the key motivation.

My work out plan is not really structured but today, i brisk walked interspersed with light jogging for close to 50mins ,stretched for about 5 mins,did squats and ab execise for about 10 mins.i'll fill you in for tommorrow.
This morning, i had rice[with green peas,carrots and fish],lunch i had a wrap of moin and grilled chicken for lunch, my snack was watermelon and garden egg. i had whole wheat and vegetable about an hour ago and thats all for today.

N.B==i went to the hospital today and the doctor told me to drop some weight and work on my abdominal muscles cos its lax.that i will do and will see him after getting my Bmi below 25,for the way forward and that is just 8kg away.I CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Health › Re: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by modath(f): 10:17pm On Jul 03, 2010
@Romeo4 real,
Let me answer your questions one after the other

1.Do you feel bloated? Are your bowel movements regular? Do you pass gas frequently? Is your fat predominantly,or disproportionately around your middle area? Do you have a diet high in fructose?(if you eat cakes, biscuits, confectionery, donuts)[/color][/color][/color]

ANSWER=======I don't feel bloated,movt every morning,pass gas well,my fat is predominantly and predominantly around my middle area,but get muffin tops and back fat when i am overweight,i don't touch pastries and refined food not because i am eating healthy but naturally dont like the taste of sugar except for malt drinks.

2. I exercise like there is no tomorrow cos i have unbelievable stamina for a woman[i forgot to mention that i look like my dad ,talk like him too cos my voice broke at puberty],i can walk 10k in 2 hrs and jog 5k in 45 min without pausing, i hold the plank position with correct form for 60 sec,i do kick boxing at home and on my road walk,i leg raise,i stretch,do reverse crunches, but i don't do sit-ups cos i have 2'' separated abdominal,my bulge is not BELOW,its starts from underneath my ribssssss,it has ALWAYS been there,there was a time in my sec school,some nosy female teachers took me into the staff room and started feeling my tummy for a growing foetus which got my parents and school mum/teacher all worked up.
I don't have fibroid or ovarian cyst cos my uterus has been opened twice and none was found on both occasions.
My lovely and caring hussy is just tired of my whining and rants and has promised to pay for a tummy tuck once we have a third child and we can save up the money for it,cos he has seen the work i put in and the sideways "but for this tummy comments i get from friends and relatives".
I can suck it in real good AND IT LOOKS HALFWAY DECENT IF I CAN SUFFER THROUGH THE DISCOMFORT OF MAGIC KNICKERS AND GIRDLES.
I am at my wits end but still will like to exercise to get my waist measurement below 35 but cos i know every other part of me is gonna reduce too,i will still be left with the same differentials.

MY current stats
WEIGHT====80.5, ARM==12.5", WRIST==6.5",FOREARM===9", BUST ===39"UNDER BUST===34",WAISTLINE===35", NAVEL====37", HIPS===42.5,LAP===26" AND HEIGHT IS 170CM.

Hi everybody,hope y' all doing great,want to share a good news with you.yesterday i slipped into a size 12 pants and it fits without giving me any unsightly bulge[apart from the normal post 2 c-s distended abdominal] secondly i dropped 0.2kg to get down to 80.5kg which is a miracle considering i have been stuck here for close to 3 weeks.my measurement around the waistline is now 37"[sounds massive but it used to be 46"] .
I know am still a work in progress but i wont relent until my waist measurement gets to 33-34",when that will be i do not have any idea,i will just take each day as the start of the weight loss journey.

@Romeo4 real,
seems you are sort of grounded in the weight loss thingy,are you a doc?,all i know i got from the internet,the doctors and bbc lifestyle and style network.
i have searched the internet for weeks on end but still haven't gotten a good answer to a question i have,the question:
My body shape is funny cos unlike the average apple shape, i have broad shoulders,and a shapely pert butts,but my stomach isn't round,its just distended and these even though it has gone down considerably,the protrusion isn't going nowhere,my muffin top is barely noticeable, but my belly is still large, my friend weighs 90 kg,has an apple shape but waist measurement is 36". Pls dont talk about IBS, GERD, CELIAC, CROHN, e.t.c,all the symptoms don't apply,i have always had this from when i could remember.it has just gotten worse with pregnancy and weight gain.i dont want a six pack or a flat tummy i just want to look NOT PREGNANT.what do i dohuhhuhhuhhuh?.

@mylove4him,
Check yourself,are you REALLY ready to drop weight,cos i see you coming up with diverse reasons why you can't lose weight,
''[I can't jog 4 now since am still nursing injury on my joint which has prevented me from even wearing high hills. If I do strenous work I feel dizzy and am easily tired.
Is there is any drugs I can take to help me without exercise.]''
Do not jog if its you much for you to do,walk instead,do light aerobics,there are billions of light intensity work-outs you can do that wont kill your joints,i am sure you have access to the net,Google them !!!!!!!

Agreed you get to eat a lot of high calorie meals in your base but can't you reduce the portion you take in,this thread has told you exactly what every sane person and weight loss expert will tell you about HEALTHY LIVING,what i have gathered from your posts is that fitting into smaller sizes is the main reason why you want to shed weight,take it beyond such superficial reasons and think about reducing your risk of life threatening illnesses like diabetes,high blood pressure,joint pains e.etc.
think of having limitless energy all day,glowing skin,better sleep,cardiovascular fitness,stronger bones e.t.c
There are drugs you can take but am never going to reveal the names to you cos they are only going to damage you in the long run.
Practice portion control if you cant eat healthy and go for moderate intensity walks[30mins]daily.

I am just tired of your excuses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

N.B==I have some aches and pains too and walking cant kill you unless you are completely handicapped,even people with severe limp dont die from walking.

@Romeo 4 real,
Pls i really do not want to argue with you,simply because you just shot down your own argument.

''Now, what is important to understand is that (1) The calories will have different effects on the body based on their source or origin. (2) The effects vary based on when/how the calories are consumed. (3) The energy cost to metabolize Fat, Carbs and Protein calories are different. As the body processes each in a different way, this will have major implications for weight gain/loss/control. I hope this is clear''.
