@Mightlove, Three gbosa for you, GBOSA GBOSA GBOSA. I am so proud of you. |
@Romeo, Thank god ooo.here i am thinking you were fatnapped by the fiendish fat and weight gain god cos of all your advises and motivational talks on how to loosen its hold on the great people on this thread. @General house, Hope y'all doing great.keep on keeping on we shall overcome. |
@Eja, I am in London to see mama charlie.LOL Don't mind me ojare, I was slightly down with flu like symptoms, just getting back up. |
@Coxty, Welcome,i dont want to come across but i need to ask you some questions. 1.how old are 2.what is present and goal weight 3.are the boys following you ruffians/thugs/criminals or idle neighbourhood kids. 4.are you new to jogging? Your response will guide the recommendation. @Eja, You are killing me,why didn't you have water with the gala and cake(which the baby needed promptly).you are a naughty one ooooo. |
@Eja, Yes you did,and if i know like i feel i do you were filled and was satisfied.keep it up. |
@General house, Where is everyone ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() i tire ooo,its lonely to be here all by myself. |
@mightlove, You are doing perfectly okay as it is,just make sure you feel the burn and your heart rate is up.when its time to increase it your body will cue you. @Romeo,alpha tango Squadron leader, you have gone awol again, report back to base asap.over! |
@General house Hi all,hw y'all doing? @might love, I do hope you are still on the wagon.as for your tailor, just ignore her. |
Eja, no offence taken, you hit the nail on the head about my temper.i used to have a major anger management issues in the past(it alienated some people till date) but as am maturing and growing am gradually getting over it.am still a work in progress but i didnt talk back at anyone, just not bothered one bit. The issue is that i look so different from the last time they saw me and they find the transformation strange. |
@Eja, My hussy is the bestest ,he is not only my one man cheerleading team.he supports anything i do(within reason),to the extent that some people are of the opinion that i have done some yoruba magic to him,but the truth is that i just let him be the man. As for my people ,you know my yoruba people well.na so we dey.one of them even ingeniously "advised" me to leave myself the way God intended me to be and just get a good "Girdle" to rein in all the bits, pieces and jiggly mass i have cos that is what other women do. What ignorance! |
@mightlove, Hope you are doing great,i'd luv it if you can join sparkpeople.com,check out contributor's blogs on the forum.but most importantly i'd really like it if you can check out a chick called "Rikkielle" blog.it has been of monumental motivation and benefit to me.i do hope you will derive the same benefit and pleasure. @Propofol, welcome, you are in the right place,my friend too started too at the same weight in may and she has dropped 13kg,slow i know but she is doing it the healthy way.as our resident guru(Romeo) has highlighted to you dont waste your money on crap that will neither nourish your body nor your soul, rather save it for splurges on clothes and accessories you will start craving when you start seeing results. @Sammie, welcome back, take things easy for now, health is wealth.when you are well and able, its like riding a bike or driving, once mastered never forgotten. @Eja, How body and the lil bun in the oven. |
@Romeo, How are you doing?i never did HIIT when i was a baby whale cos i would have died for sure but i do it now(2x weekly) to kick my metabolism to the stratosphere and i have found it beneficial. when i started my initial brand of hiit was short runs interspersed with my brisk walks and it helped me break my plateaus.i gleaned from other forum contributors at caloriecount.about.com and sparkpeople.com. That their body too gets used to steady state cardio as they get stronger. Romeo,my relatives(who i care about and respect their opinions) are complaining that am too skinny, was not built to be that skinny(76kg),they also said am giving people the impression that am either depressed,my husband is maltreating me,or am impoverished.i cant avoid them for now cos we are together @ my grandma's for the eid celebration."Are they blind cant they see my gut" i know they will soon get used to it but they want to kill me now. |
Might love, never i repeat never use exercise to compensate for overeating, its a vicious circle.a one cheat meal/day/or even week will not ruin your plans if you take healthy living as a journey and not a destination.what we do occassionally doesnt define us,it what we make a habit of that mark us. Its a new lifestyle and you deserve kudos for even making an effort but i beg you to make it count by making a commitment and seeing it through.this is also a test of character. Try the 80/20 approach,80% of the time you follow through with all your plans while 20% is for your sanity if you know what i mean. P.s=sorry if i came on strong,i can be passionate about stuff ugghh. |
@Might love,hw u doin?yep, minimum for cardio to be effective for weight loss is between 45-60 mins.when you build up strenght and endurance 30 mins of running or 20 mins of HIIT.but pls dont try anything high intensity for now,i beg u.Romeo is right on the money. |
@mightlove, I dey kampe, awa you 2. @Okoji, Welcome,we are happy to have you, there is strength in numbers. |
@Romeo, Thank you for the thumbs up,i wont let you down. |
@Might love, What you are experiencing is Delayed onset muscle soreness, just goggle some light stretches and do them. I do appreciate you too,and the truth is that there are times i get the urge to just let go [the time i had a bad back/thigh/hamstring ache, but its easing off gradually] but i remind myself that i have come a long way, have motivated and still motivating a lot of people [and some haters in my neighborhood will have a field day] i just grin ,suck it in and keep on keeping on.it hasn't been easy but i take each day as it comes without beating myself up over anything,i did this in 2002 felt good for a long time thereafter before i lost it, i don't want to go through that drama ever again. even if vanity doesn't come into it, i was at a breast cancer awareness seminar and having a lot of fat cells encourages a rapid multiplication of cancerous cells in the body.LADIES AINT THAT ANOTHER GREAT REASON TO STAY SHAPE. What do i have to lose but excess fat and low self esteem. |
@Mightlove= super chick, I am so proud of you right now,way to go!!!!!woo hoo. @Romeo, Hope you are doing great.i had a moment of nostalgia some moments ago when i saw a picture of myself after my first attempt at healthy living at about 70kg[guessing], i looked fabulous and it was the only time that i had a stomach that though was never flat,it had absolutely no bulge and am wondering why i let it go. i think my weight has reached a kind of set point for now,cos all am doing these days is swinging between 76-78kg despite all my efforts,am not sweating it but am just doing my thing by investing in structured shape wear to rein in my abdominal bulge [37'' and 34" at the indentation]for now,the irony is that people are telling me to stop where i am but am not yet comfortable but i know if i continue the way am doing i will definitely get my below 32" waist.but my goal for Jan 1st is 75kg and 33" waist. I know i can do what i wanna do, i just need to put in the efforts. @Eja, Hope you are doing great @Sammie,Aladunni, Nonny p and others, Where are you guys? |
@Romeo, Am good.i just have a bit of everything on the menu, excluding the mayo ridden coleslaw. @Mightlove, I implore you to start your fitness routine asap and if you are consistent with you could drop 5-6kg before the new year rolls in,think of the motivation and confident boost it will for the new year. |
@DOCTOR 7, I have no problem with your hustle, its just that you are in the wrong thread, you'd have observed that the peeps here are aware that nothing good comes without zero efforts!!!!!! |
@might love, Kind of difficult to describe but I'll try,do you know the section where consumables[food, meat, fish, veggies etc]are sold,if you do?just check the lines closest to it,the guy's shop is the biggest sports equipment shop around the area and even the whole wuse market period. ehen he also embosses t.shirts and stuff. |
@ Might love How you doing!!!!!!!!!. @EJA, How body, hope you are no longer having the munchies. @Romeo, Keep up the good work, i know you have a genuine love for helping people, you will never lack helpers. I was at a christening today and i enjoyed myself [in moderation]. |
@Might love, I don't have dumb bells at the moment, what i have are two water bottles filled with sand and water, its heavy but my grip slacks when my palms begin to get sweaty but the one am planning for am getting it from a guy in wuse market.its adjustable and it has 10kg on each bar,am still psyching myself to part with the 15k he wants for it, i can afford it but am just too miserly to do it,but i know am fighting a lost battle uugggghh!!!! @General house, How una dey?? |
@MIGHTLOVE. You'd get a good scale[digital] at grand square or go to sports world in ceddi or emab plaza [wuse 2],before buying put a dumb bell from the shop on it to confirm its accuracy.mine i got in Lagos, its accurate but it measures by rounding up to .5 or 1 so i wouldn't advise you to get mine, the one my friend has she bought in grand square for 7.5k but mine is 3.5k.LOL mightlove: |

@might love, There are great stockists not too far away from sunny land where i get stuff for my kids,if you know balogun well, there is a UBA[Bank] ,around there just take your time and look you'd definitely find what you are looking for or go to tinubu where baby stuff are sold, you'd shop till you drop. 2.Can we try and do away with white bread, fried plantain, sugared drinks e.t.c cos you are not likely to find the time to exercise enough to cancel out the calories they contain.secondly try and do cardio, its very important at the moment cos you have a lot of mass to shed and also try not to put a time limit on you goal as you may get discouraged if things dont work out as you'd want, rather make the necessary dietary changes, get in 30-45 minutes of brisk walk 5x and 15-30 minutes of strength/body weight/resistance training in 3-4 X a week and watch magic happen. i do hope you realize that you will lose weight without moving a muscle if your diet is on point, its just that you may not look good!!!!!!!!!. @Romeo, Is it okay if she doesn't jump rope for now,cos of her weight?. |
@Romeo, The $15 is with shipping cost,i will go to the new silver bird galleria today,if i don't find it there & you said its likely to take a month before i take delivery,I'd wait for one of the people i know that are coming home for Xmas. As for the shoes and bags thingy,i believe i am one of the few women that actually feels great when i pay rock bottom price for anything,i am not a fickle buyer ,retail therapy does absolutely nothing for me and i don't shop in Abuja,i buy things for every one in my family in balogun lagos where i will get everything cheaply, there is a complex in balogun called sunny land[ladies in lagos can check it out]all brands[Steve madden,Dorothy Perkins, next, fioni,American connection, montego bay, guess e.t.c]of shoes are there, all kinds of great looking knock off bags you want, you'd find and the most you are ever going to pay is 8k. The only expensive accessories i have are the Italian shoe and bag sets for owambe,[and i have even stopped buying them cos they are too mamaish]and gold and that is just cos i know that i can trade it in any day i want. @might love, How far ? |
@ROMEO, Thanks so much, the reason am getting the dvd is cos i want structure,i know i have discipline and will power but i believe the dvd will be fun to follow.can you believe the p90x costs $150 and the Jillian michaels is just $15 so am nixing the p90x plan but am scared of ordering it online[amazon.com] cos am scared of yahoo boys,i don't want them to touch my widow's mite. Romeo, why does everything good have to cost so much, dumb bells costs an arm a leg, healthy version of food is dearer than the regular version e.t.c.its no wonder people will rather stay fat.i would too if my OCD will allow me.LOL |
@Romeo, Hope you are doing great! you go awol a lot these days though, gone are the days that I get a response within 24 hours[max] or do I hit you up on your mail am back with my issues, am so glad that I didn’t get the 4kg dumb bells cos am now getting the 10kg bars, it has 1kg[2],1.5k.g[2] and 2.5 kg[2] totaling 10kg on each bar, the 4kg will soon outlive its usefulness in a couple of weeks and I wouldn’t like to pay 7k for something that will not serve me, cos the gospel truth is that it didn’t feel that “heavy” , the 10k.g is 15k,I bargained for 12k,he rejected it but am giving it some few days, if he doesn’t change his mind I will go and pick it up. What is your take on Jillian Michaels’ 30 day shred and p 90x DVDs, I need something co-ordinated and all am reading about them are positive but my main issue is that I cant find them anywhere, am going try Ceddi plaza tomorrow though. @Eja, How is our little bun in the oven doing? @Sammie, Hope you don dey kampe fully? Finally @Might love, I didn’t know what to make of your post initially [cos the part about being an exercise freak I didn’t know what to make of it]. I used to work in a bank, had a little boy, used to get home late at night but I still managed to make time for exercise, the only thing I didn’t know about initially was portion control, I also didn’t know that it mattered if I had egusi vs vegetable, If I used too much oil, white bread vs. wheat bread e.t.c, knowledge they say is power. Anyway, I live in Abuja too, don’t have a treadmill cos it’s not really needed, and things in Abuja are crazily expensive, just get a skipping rope, step board[harmattan is almost here and Abuja can get chilly],dumb bells, fitness dvds and you are good to go!!!!!!. If you really must get machine, get an elliptical/cross trainer,i think my posts will tell you some things to work with am now swinging between 76-77k.g,so something must be working. My email addy is modath4@yahoo.com in case you want it. |
@General house, How you doing? @SAMMIE, Great to have you back. @Romeo, I've already ordered for 4kg ones!!! @Doctor 7, Go hawk your poison elsewhere. |
@Dominique[moderator], Pls look into this spam bot issue cos i know Romeo, has notified you earlier, and i cant see anything inflammatory about his posts. @Romeo, Thank you,i am finally getting dumb bells[have no choice but to get over my distaste for overpriced Abuja stuff] cos am tired of my water bottles, they are so cumbersome to get a good grip of.i don't want to buy more than one pair, what kg do i go for?i want my butt kicked but not killed. |
@Eja, Thank you for the vote of confidence, you are a life saver,i will just dust my shoulder, pop my collar, and bend for no-one but my hussy[who is 100% behind me] and my babies. The funny thing is that even though i have lost about 20k.g,i still have about 8-10 kg to lose and about 3 inches in my waist ,so am not yet home free. One of my close cousins is of the same height and of the same build as me,while growing up she was an overweight child and teen but in her first year in school she discovered religion big time and fasts a minimum of 2 days a week without fail, she lost weight without anyone noticing for years cos it was gradual.she has since then maintained a 64kg frame and fits into a size 8-10,but i don't want to go that route,i will stay at 68-70 k.g cos i love my boobs and my junk in the trunk,i wouldn't trade either for silver nor gold noooo that is too little, diamond and rubies ain't even enough.LOL @Sammie,get well soon,we are rooting for you. |
