barcanista: Oga e be like say you get your own method of interpretation o....
“(1) The President may – (a) grant any person concerned with or convicted of any offence created by an Act of the National Assembly a pardon, either free or subject to lawful conditions; “(2) The powers of the President under subsection (1) of this section shall be exercised by him after consultation with the Council of State.”
Read Very well... The Constitution used the word SHALL and not MAY. It means without the go-ahead of the Council, the President CAN'T approve any pardon. Wow barca you be badt guy. |

OrlandoOwoh: Jonathan was a failure. I've heard people say they voted for Buhari because PDP failed; I voted for Buhari because Jonathan failed. Jonathan is the reason I voted for Buhari, not PDP. So it was not Buhari's past performance/manifesto that persuaded you to vote for him? |

OrlandoOwoh: Yet Jonathan has been effecting last minute changes and implementation of policies. Why did he not implement the confab report? You people need to do some soul searching. He couldn't implement the confab report considering the north still holds sway in both houses. Shame we couldn't count on our SW peeps in the house. |
Politics › Re: Before The Spirit Of Orubebe Dies... by Mogidi: 12:33pm On May 15, 2015 |
Mynd44: 1. Define new leaders. Donald Duke was fresh. Fashola is fresh. Sanusi is fresh. Why cant the new people with aspirations step up to contest for the primaries? Desmond Elliot showed that you can make it. How cone others did not come out? I find it insulting that the PDP had Donald Duke and we had to contend with thieving charlatans.
2) The PDP has been at the centre and the had both houses of assembly too. Why did those leaders not push for that? Tinubu has been screaming federalism for almost 12 years and failed to recognise that. Why?
3) This country cannot be regonalised because our regions do not define us. Not everyone in the SE is Igbo. Not everyone in the SW is Yoruba. Divisions are all over. We are citizens of Nigeria and we live in states and not regions. When you guys attempt to divide the country into 6, you become a bunch of tribal warlords
4) I see myself as part of a well growing Nation where corruption is not our problem. Where I can be of Igbo descent and contest for governorship in Kano. Where I can be from Abia state and the family of my Anambra GF wont say I am not good enough because I am from Ngwa Repeat the highlighted to those up north. Nigeria is a mere geographic expression, we didn't coin that phrase. |

chemali: People that cannot bring their rulers to account for their misdeeds are making noise that they want to control their resources. What have your state governors done apart from mindless looting for the past 16 years? What did you do about it? Ibori rules for 8 years. Uduaghan ruled for 8 years. Theodore Oji ruled for 8 years and is now a senator elect. Elechi ruled for 8 years. Are you that stupid that you are so comfortable with mediocre? You are screaming for a referendum but you have the like of Alams wanting to contest for a senate seat. Jonathan was president for 5 years but his greatest achievement was dividing us further along religious and ethnic lines. The problem isn't the North or SW not he problem is you. If you go your own way which I really don't give a damn if you do, you will still have you to contend with. I stopped reading at the highlighted. You're a genius to imply the SS having some corrupt individuals is enough reason to deny them a referendum, flawless logic. |

IyaIode: The election has been won and lost, if you feel sad about the results, go and strategies for 2019. What has ironsi got to do with the last election?
1. Did this same Jonathan not win overwhelming in 2011 expecially in the North?
2. Did these same Jonathan not carry the eternal looters along?
3. Was the last 5yrs not a looting spree? You think other regions don't have stories to tell against your region too So how about a referendum? |

barcanista: It is a twin fight. Referendum for Biafra/Lower Niger on one hand and True Federalism with at least 50% derivation formular on the other hand. We can not continue in this destructive path Bros we've been short-changed for far too long, anything less than 50% should be rejected. |

Some lords felt that Jonathan was fast making them to lose relevance hence they needed to reinvent themselves politically coupled with oil block licencing cum population census of 2016. You couldn't have put it any better, many people down South didn't realise what the issues were. They bought into the sleek slogan of "change". The North are truly the most sophisticated region in terms of political and economic awareness. In all, Jonathan didn't just lose. We lost too. Our fight for referendum or true federalism would make GEJ's loss a blessing in disguise. |

barcanista: Don't mind the fo.ol..he thinks GEJ is as vindictive as his Daura boss. Whether he's jailed or not is not my problem, as long as he leaves Government for good. He's a good riddance and an enemy of the collective progress of SS and SE. He can go to Abuja or Bourdillon but he remains a political and social waste in Rivers and the entire SS/SE. So glad a man like Wike won in Rivers, he's one politician Amaechi won't mess with. The days of "gentleman politics" ended with the defeat of GEJ. |

Shouldn’t that have been the end of the matter? No! The agenda is far bigger than the allegation. The allegation is only but a smokescreen to mask the real intention of the purveyors of the falsehood. That is why the whole issue is being handled as if the NNPC is a creation of the Jonathan administration. If it is not mere mischief, why is PWC’s major recommendation that “the NNPC model of operation must be urgently reviewed and restructured, as the current model which has been in operation since the creation of the Corporation cannot be sustained” being downplayed? |
