Vicjustice:

She can do everything whilst in the UK.
As a 10 years multi-entry clearance permit holder, she doesn't need to go to the embassy for student visa application, she can either apply for the school's admission online or whilst in the UK: all she has to do is to travel to the UK and apply for the permission to stay longer than the regulated 6 months-per-visit rule on student ground.
As for the little ones who are American citizens, they can travel with her without visas, and if their mother gets the school's admission, and she gets the clearance to study, then, the children will be granted same permissions to remain in the UK with her.

Thank u vicjustice, she already has admission, I'll pass the info across.

visa applications require planning. your salary/current account is the most suitable for any application but it should at least have some decent balance.

you should have built up the balance in your current/salary account few months before you applied. rather than stashing money away in your savings account, you should have either left it in your current account or transferred money from your savings account to your current account in random transfers. say 50k this week, another 100k the following month, etc.

had it been you had about 500k balance in your current account and you had included that of your husband, your application might have stood a better chance.

that 54k balance doesnt cut it at all. enough to 'piss' any ECO off and just write you off as an 'unserious' applicant.

Noted. Thnx, will just do that and wait till nextyear or future........ to reapply, gotten enuf info 4rm this forum.

you should never have submitted the 53k current bank statement in the first place. thats less than £160!!!! it would have been a different issue if you had say 300k in your current account and say 700k in your savings

you should have kept your application simple by either relying on your husband statements or transferring your funds from the savings account to your current account.

Too bad my mistake, thnk u. I just tot since ts my salary account and I submitted payslips, they might want to see d account the money is going into. Cos I remember I read smwhr on this forum whr sm1 said they submitted payslips n but the ECO said they didn't see d payments on d payslips in d account or smtin like dt.
Well ts a lesson 4 next time. I really tot I had t rightt.

Dear Molly14,

Justwise and co have done a good job in answering your questions but i'm going to restate what has been said but maybe in a 'simpler' grammar:

1. There is a guidance for visa issuance that the ECO follows and this guidance contains different templates for refusal based on various reasons such as travel history, economic circumstance, home ties, source of funds e.t.c. that's why sometimes, it appears like a case has not been individually assessed ...

2. The ECO is watching out for 3 major things and in no particular order they are: A) Travel History - This shows your level of compliance with immigration laws in other countries. The idea is most probably that if you have a track record of compliance, then you will return home. B) Amount available for the trip - As stated by Justwise et al, each application is assessed on its own merit. Your available cash (not savings account or fixed deposit) to the ECO is what you can access on the go without having to go through a process. i'm guessing from my banking knowledge that having a current or checking account reduces your risk profile and increases your credit rating and as such the ECO may be more likely to focus on your current account where you have submitted both current and savings. Bottom line is they don't want you partaking in UK tax payers money. C) Source of income - The ECO must somehow be convinced that your source of income is so reliable/steady that you have no need to remain in the UK. Its not enough to just earn a salary, it must be a 'decent' salary. So getting N75k monthly is not a bad thing, it only becomes a problem when 75k is all you receive (from all sources) and you naturally have expenses. you need to deduct your expense from your income for you to access your own chances of success for a UK visa.

3. Always remember that you need to convince the ECO about your 'thriving' circumstances in Nigeria. Always always attach documents.

Thank u so much.

They focus on your own salary and not necessarily that of your husband, you will find it difficult to explain the issue of allowance because the difference between your hubby's salary and allowances is huge

Thank u, I don't know f u saw the refusal letter I posted. The ECO stated that he saw all the earnings from my husband but howvere some money in his "statements" are more. He assumed that of all the 4 statements we submitted, 3 is for my husband and was wondering how he had other accounts wit money like that, but my husband submitted only 1 statement, the remaing 3 are for me and our baby. On his own letter, the ECO wrote I note that u submitted a number of personal statement, which is false he submitted 1, on my own he said I note that u submitted "A STATEMENT" that has 56k, false again, I submitted 2 statements, the 1 with 56k is my salary account, the other is my savings account that I have built up over time and has 1.1m in t, besides this, we explained all the source of the money in that my savings account on the cover letter and additional info and added proof of the money. The ECO just assumed that the whole 3 statement is for my husband. I don't know if u now understand the picture.

That is the issue here, you both earn 236K combined in a month, that is about £700, that aside...who pays the allowance?

Hubby's employers. Doesn't the total sum for the year count on the long run? The allowances r still ur earnings n u get them as part of ur income

How much is your take home salary and how much did you budget for the trip?

My take home is 59k, hubby 177k, however, allowances are about 1.6m paid as two times ayear asides other allowances.
Totalling 4.5m per year. For d whole package.

@justwise, I attached d refusal letter early, mayb u can see it, f ts not too much trouble to go thru later post

well, i wrote 2 pages, maybe that explains y they didnt get some explanations.
leme try to attach the letter

Thank u, please note that the 56k mentioned is just my salary account (how will i submit balance of 56k and expect a visa), i also submitted my savings account that has about 1.1m in it, that wasn't mentioned at all, it is as if it wasn't seen. The transactions in my husbands account are his upfront and quarterly allowances, which were explained in the additional information part and entered as sources of other income, plus written in the cover letter we attached, including evidences of this payment, it showed on his payslips and then we also attached a breakdown of his salary, from his employer, all these things were stated explicitly and we submitted. i just assume maybe because he has applied before they just refused us, his refusal was in 2011 and we were not even married then plus he was working somewhere else.

Any1 please assist, dunno if we should reapply immediately or later on.

Your explanation should be a maximum of one page, double spaced.
You should write clear, short bullet points.
If you submit pages of writing then the VO will only scan over them and may miss information.

Good day all,
I finally applied o, and got refusal 2day. Explained all sources of funds for my husband and I and still got a refusal based on financial reasons. That I have limited funds in my account, I added my salary account and my savings account, however, it is only the amount in my salary account that was mentioned, they didn't mention it's as if they didn't see my savings account, we also wrote a cover letter to explain all the funds in my husband's account, adding evidence of all the money, and ironically, we were refused because, they didn't see explanation of the money and that's the only reason.
Please what else can I do, I dunno if we should reapply, don't know if we would have chances of getting the Visa

To my best understanding as i have an experience with them....they only updated me that they have submitted my request and never got back to me again, their site to check my updates on how far my request for transcript was always not opening with bad error message.
I went to get an insider to help me process it and sent to ICAS which now took over 6 months to produce my ECA.
My conclusion is this, they are a fraud.
They have still not contacted me ever since.

please be wise!

Do you actually want to travel or you just want a visa?
Did you even check the price for tickets to the uk. 350k for three people in this decade?

Getting a visa is one thing, crossing UKBA is another.

Woah Thanx 4 d advice. However see below. At d top u can see 2 adults and 1 infant

As a family trip is not bad but you really need to explain this in your application form as you have done here

But ticket cost more that.

Ok thank u so much. Checked d ticket on wakanow.com just now so I was able to compare wit other airlines. Yes there r more expensive tickets well over 500k sef.
Uve bin so helpful, will let u know how t goes after we've applied keeping my fingers crossed and praying.

No avoid doing that because it will not represent accurate situation. You can get actual ticket cost online, that will help you come up with more factual figure for the trip.

Since your sister is taking care of accommodation the only major cost coming from you will be ticket.

You also need to outline places you want to visit while in th UK with your family

Ok thank u. I've checked the cheapest ticket for the 3 of us is 352k airfrance, 1160pounds. And maybe spend 400k there, about 1300pounds. Making a budget of about 2460pounds. 752k.
Does this make financial sense, I have about 500k in savings and my husband about 800k, also a small savings for our baby of abt 250k. That is minus the loan I talked about.

I get that however, you still need to explain clearly how that money come about and that you will not be using it for the trip.

Try and avoid making a budget for the trip that will eat deeply into your actual fund.

Thank u so much, I'm so grateful. If I may ask pls what's a reasonable budget for a family of 3, father mother n baby, sister accommodating us. Ticket about 350k for d 3 of us, is t safe to say 600k or 500k for running for 10days? Sorry o, my question mite be dumb but I just want to make sure we get evrytn right b4 applying

You can't take a loan to go on a leisure trip

No I'm not taking a loan to go on a trip. It was just an inflow in my account in April. I do have other monies in that same account that I'm using for the trip. In fact I will still have excess money witout touching the loan. It's just dt the inflow came in within d period and like u said t will look suspicious on the statement if I don't explain the source.

She can add her utility bills and explain the issue of tenancy agreement in the letter. You also need to have a strong tie to Nigeria, your sister's documents alone will not be enough you need to prove that you be returning to Nigeria if given a visa

Good day, this forum is really helpful. Please I will like information on how to apply for UK Visa for my husband, baby and I. Do we need to fill out a separate form for our baby. We are all applying together.
Secondly, will an inflow to my account in April be considered as lumpsum if I apply for the Visa in July?
