You are not looking at years wasted that makes students unemployable?

Enter Uni at 18 by the time you finish you are close to 28

I am looking at it and I am also looking at the expenses.

Government can still run it full time and there won't be strike na.

How do they run USA public universities?

That's what is called autonomy that ASUU has been asking for decades

These schools will inherit the infrastructure of the FG now they can put into practice all the knowledge they've been teaching on how to run business and economy

I like it. It's better for schools to become expensive than to waste students life due to strikes

Tinubu campaign that 4yrs will be 4yrs no longer 8yrs because of strikes

If you are running yourselves fully what will be your excuse to be going on strikes

Egbon forget this thing oh. I am looking at the money here.

The problem u have is u are reading the news with a preconceived notion that this means FG will stop funding Universities/Polytechnics and the governing council of the schools will be responsible for how to fund them.

This is the reason ASUU objected to IPPIS from the onset.

This is the ASUU president talking about what the possible effect of the removal will be and if u noticed carefully he never mentioned anything about the universities self-funding.

Which means FG will still be funding the schools, bottlenecks which the IPPIS brought with it will disappear and all the university management needs to do is be prudent and accountable for whatever funds they will be adminisering.

Any other thing aside this is just u speculating.

Connect the dots and with this expect our VCs and all to start cashing out if it stays like this or expect schools to become more expensive if FG go the other way which I believe is what they are trying to do here.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by monerozi5590: 11:55am On Dec 14, 2023

They just become like private university so it's to their governing board.

Raise fund anyway spend it anyway leave govt out of it

Yeah, some of them are still confused. They want FG to come out and spell everything out whether this is what they really wanted for existing them from IPPIS.

Schools will become more expensive with this. I don't want this.

They resisted the IPPIS because they said it did not take into cognizance of the peculiarity of their job and renumeration packages. You are just confusing urself importing autonomy into the discussion even when the news article didn't mention anything of such.

The issue of financial autonomy of tertiary institutions has not been finalized between FG and federal owned tertiary institutions. As of today FG still funds most part of tertiary institutions' expenses. Nothing has changed

Which place VCs or schools go defend their budget ?

Lol.

U are misinterpreting a simple statement na. It means they will revert to the status quo before IPPIS was forced on them. At least there was a way the lecuturers were getting paid before the IPPIS wahala came up.

Why did they resist IPPIS in the first place. One of the reasons is that it limits their autonomy.

This is autonomy to public tertiary institutions. Na dem VCs go the present their budget to National Assembly.

VCs about to cash out too.

I'm actually not talking about the merits or demerits of IPIPS. Just saying Tinubu is more open to dialogue compared to Buhari.

Hmmmmmm!. I have seen any dialogue yet oh apart from from promises that are yet to be fulfilled.

Where did u get this ur own information? The news simply said ASUU and ASUP have been given approval to exit the IPPIS platform. Where did u see it being linked to autonomy/government funding of Universities/Polytechnics?

Did anybody talk about autonomy when dem CBN, NNPC and co were exempted from IPPIS from the onset?

“What that means in simple language is that the university authorities and other tertiary institutions will now be paying their own personnel from their own end instead of relying on the IPPIS.”

I believe is not unconnected to the autonomy they are talking about given to public universities/polytechnics.

Can Nigeria universities fund themselves?

Don't you think will become very expensive?

Where in the world do government don't fund public universities?

This is what happens when a dullard like Buhari occupies the highest seat in a country .

May Buhari never happen to this country again in any form 🙏

Unfortunately it didn't succeed, had it been it succeeded I would have included it as one of his many achievements. Is cool for you not to like him because Buhari is not perfect, he has his flaws like everyone of us.

Talking about dullard! My prayers everyday is for God to make me to be a dullard like Buhari. Amen.

Go and look at Venezuela after the oil crash.

Yaradua left $22bln in the Excess Crude Account. The specific stated purpose of that money was to take Nigeria through an oil slump. Okonjo Iweala implemented it under OBJ for that purpose. Jonathan spent it and shared it with Governors which they ate. That's equivalent to more than one years budget then. Government is a continuum.

Billions have been vanishing then and now. Nigerian politicians will never change whether the money is earned or borrowed

But what you care about is your pocket, you don't care about the billions of savings squandered that should protect your future evidently, so let's examine what affects your pocket in the present

What affects your life as common man is (a.) Naira value and (b.) Fuel subsidy

Naira value is controlled by Forex reserves balance which is dependent on oil price

Fuel subsidy is dependent on Government policy and whether Govt is willing to borrow to keep subsidy going.

Buhari was willing to borrow to keep subsidy going and willing for CBN to spend $12bln a year defending Naira. He could not defend it all the way because oil price affected reserves and also demand for Naira

The common man is lucky that Tinubu or Peter Obi did not replace Jonathan in 2015 otherwise they would have made you take the pain fully in 2015 since Jonathan did not leave any savings to cushion the pain like OBJ had left for him. Buhari is a socialist and kept up the standard of living with expensive subsidies and monetary policy within the means available to him. For what concerns the common man (inflation), Buhari actually protected them.

Me, I'm a capitalist with a long term view. I favour the Tinubu and Peter Obi way. Same way Buhari was protecting price of goods at great cost in 1984 until Babangida dropped the pain on them.

You are complaining about the transition in standard of living from Buhari to Tinubu now, same way people complained about transition from Buhari to IBB in 1986.

This gladdens my heart. May God continue to bless Buhari.
