lbrichman2:Do you realize we are going to be playing either Algeria or DRC Congo in the next game and you want to bench Osimhen to prove a point? Is proving a point more important than winning game in this crucial stage? |
XrisKelz:Until you produce somebody better than Osimhen for the S.E. please leave this matter. I think it is passion for the S.E. that's consuming Osimhen. He is simply ready to give his all for the success of the team, so when he notices anything that won't help it he doesn't know how to "keep it cool". Osimhen really wants the team to succeed, that's why even when he is not scoring he is providing assists and mounting relentless pressure on defenses, which also motivates his teammates. It is sad that the same people that osimhen is playing with utmost zeal to put a smile on their faces are the ones now slandering him. |
CapitalCee:hilarious. Do you realize Osimhen is the striker of the team? by default all passes should find themselves to him. Osimhen has been very selfless for a striker. This was the same striker that was giving assist to lookman in the last AFCON and he has replicated same in this AFCON. Look at the pass he gave to lookman to score against Tunisia when he could have also shot at goal, look at the pass he also gave to Onuachu against Uganda. Don't ever say he is playing for personal glory again please. |
ThunderFireAgba:But actually Osimhen has arrived, let's not forget he literally carried this team when lookman and the rest were all playing rubbish, he could have done better with his temper tonight though but let's not disrespect him and pretend we don't know his quality. |
TheSuperNerd:but we have to also acknowledge he is not entirely defensively useless as portrayed here, I don't blame him that he gets a little easily dribbled...the likes of Ozil and Juan Mata where that way too but Iwobi compensates with his pressing, making interceptions and space markings. |
Meliforme:they weren't posing any threat until Onyeka was removed. Anybody can score from a freekick, in fact any team that is not finding it funny in a game will hope and play for a freekick/penalty/cornerkick to get something out of the game, that's how you know a team is not finding it funny, but that was no longer the case with the substitution of Onyeka. |
Iwobi has been contributing defensively too. Let's not make like he is not doing any defensively. He presses a lot. Maybe people think he is not defending well because he is not very difficult to dribble unlike other midfielders like Onyeka and Ndidi but he makes up for that with pressing, zonal/positional marking, and ball inceptions. People who make intelligent passes in football are usually easily dribbled and winning duels. E.g. people say Barcelona has a weak defense because you can easily dribble past their players who on the other hand are very good with tiki-taka football when in possession of the ball. Let's cut Iwobi some slack please. This is the person that initiates and dictate play in from deep and makes it to the final third to deliver passes. He is always full of running on the pitch reason why he gets tired towards the end of some games. Now is not the time talk bad about Iwobi at all. |
Meliforme:the Tunisians were not posing any threat even when they got their first goal, which was only a result of a freekick that should have not been conceded in the first place. Things would have just returned to normal after that goal, but things changed with the substitution of Onyeka. |

Israel is blessed and has been a blessing to the world. |
You can't blame Trump for this, South Africa have been the ones romancing the so called "Palestinians" and they invited them. |
2mch:at least Foreign mercenaries will do enough damage to Terrorists for the Nigerian Military to step in and do the needful. A lot of budget has been going to the military so it is not out of place to take half of it to sponsor the foreign mercenaries and get actual results. Foreign mercenaries will not be affected by politics and activities of moles in the military. |
2mch:I don't think the Military along can handle this. The military is fighting boko Haram, Iswap, Bandits and others terrorist groups all at the same time. The government should also deploy the services of foreign mercenaries like Jonathan that made him almost completely crushed Boko Haram. Even Russia is deploying Foreign Mercenaries. If a whole Russia with a superior military to that of Nigeria can do that then what should Nigeria be doing. |
floss:have they not been plotting coup regardless? So I say he should implement regional government. If he cannot crush insecurities in the North, nor implement regional government or even State Police then there's no reason to call him "jagaban". |
The same Putin you people say will stop Trump from attacking Iran ![]() |
semid4lyfe:More like this:

123jamessmith: 123jamessmith:Iwobi played deep. That's what you get when you play him in a two man midfield as he is saddled with the responsibility of dictating play from the deep, the little time he was freed to go forward with the introduction of Onyeka he made intelligent runs into space and almost scored if not for the block of the Benin defender, after that he was substituted. Given more time playing closer to the final third he'll score goals and get assists. |

Jesus said "except your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the Pharisees you cannot enter the kingdom of God." In other words, the best of man's righteousness is not sufficient, because the pharisees were people who devoted their lives to strict adherence to the law for righteousness, so if anyone could attain the required righteousness by works, it would have been the pharisees, yet their righteousness was not enough. In essence, Jesus was only helping people to understand that man's righteousness that he attains from keeping the law and doing good works cannot be enough, and that the only righteousness that can get you into the kingdom of God is the righteousness of God Himself. This is why Jesus said people should seek first the kingdom of God and HIS righteousness. He did not say people should seek their own righteousness but that they should seek God's righteousness. It is only God's perfect righteousness can get us into Heaven. And Paul writes how this righteousness is received by faith in Christ apart from works in his epistles. I pray that somehow Donald Trump will get to know this, and rest in what Christ has done for him. At least he knows he cannot achieve heaven by his good works despite the many good works he has done, but he also have to receive/acknowledge the gift of righteousness which is given by faith in Christ alone. |
DomPerignon:ask your government first because your government is not ignorant of the capabilities of Israel, which is why they are patronizing Israel on Agriculture, Technology, Security etc. |
franchasng:the same way the British (because of Oil) supported Arabs with weapons against Israel in the war of independence and Israel still won that war, and the British empire fell shortly after that. |
Rolings:It seems you don't really understand Jesus and Christians then, didn't Jesus pray for those that crucified him to be forgiven? Jesus still loves the Israelis till date and will never withdraw his love for them. The gift and calling of the Lord is without repentance. Same way he loved us while we were yet sinners. Christians who have received the unconditional love of Jesus have extended same to the Jews because that's what Jesus did for us and that's his heart. Do you know that Israel's unbelief was also an opportunity for Non-jews to know the true God and be saved? The time is coming when Israel will believe in Jesus and be saved too. As for you, do you think Hamas like you? Your own Muslims reject you, Arab States, Egypt etc don't want to take "Palestinian" refuges, if they can do so to their own Muslim brothers what do you expect they'll do to Christians if they're at their mercy? If you call yourself Christian and support Hamas, go to Gaza and see what they'll do to you. Muslims that are treated harshly by their brothers run to Christian countries seeking refuge, but what Christians to turn against Jews. |
Ragingthunder:When it comes the pressing, Osimhen and Iwobi does it better than every other player in the SE. |
TheSuperNerd:Onyedika has what it takes to play the deep lying midfield role, thereby freeing Iwobi to concentrate on providing creativity in the final third. I have said this before, the SE can only get the best of Iwobi when he is played closer to the strikers than trying to get him drop deep and at the same time expect him to magically appear in the final third to provide creative passes. Onyedika should be starting in a 3 man midfield consisting of Iwobi, Onyedika and Ndidi. ................Iwobi.......... Onyedika........Ndidi |
JohnBullMySon:not to mention they have the home advantage and ref support, since they have the CAF presidency. Super Eagles are going there as the underdogs. |
Even when Iwobi is deployed to the No. 10 role, he still have to drop deep to function as a deep lying playmaker, thus the strikers are staved of creativity in the final third, and when he goes forward, no deep lying playmaker to play from back. To get the best from him, he must be left to always play close to the strikers, and a deep lying player maker should feature behind him to play and supply from the back. Iwobi can't be in two places at the same time. This is why I expected Onyedika to pair Ndidi since we don't have somebody like Mikel for now. We have to match the South Africans in creative football as well, keep possession of the ball and prevent them playing their "Spanish tiki taka" as BankyGee mentioned. And Iwobi should not pair Ndidi in holding midfield role like what happened in the second half at Uyo if we don't want our midfield to be overrun by the South Africans, he should play closer with the attackers in the final third. Playing him in side by side with Ndidi is like playing Juan Mata or Ozil there. |
Amedino99:This is their game plan, also considering that they will want to play for a draw too. Some of their plans may also include: Getting as many corner kicks against Super Eagles because Super Eagles don't fare very well defending them. They almost conceded against Rwanda with the very few corners they conceded. They may also try to capitalize on GK's recent behaviors by getting their players to get him agitated to repeat what he did in Uyo, knowing fully well that the Ref may not be lenient this time, especially when South Africa is the host nation. I noticed the Left Back did have a much pace and used his positional awareness to compensate for that in the last game, who knows if SA have taken note of it to exploit his wing with their pacy wingers/strikers. Though Fredrick was impressive in Uyo, but Ekong has been the one offering aerial advantage in that defense, and that's where he is actually good at, and without him, the Super Eagles risk struggling in that area if they play against a team that wants to attack aerially. I'm not saying Fredrick should be benched though, but just pointing out what the absence of Ekong in the defense may result in. Ekong is better with aerial defense than the other Super Eagles defenders, who are also better than him in their own ways. |
Rwandan players have been seeing more of the ball since Lookman was taken off. Simon should have been the one taken off, not Lookman. |
Chukweze should come in for Simon. Tolu can come in as a second striker to pair Dessers if Chukweze is not in form. Onyideka should come in for Onyeka. |
Super Eagles should be better understood. They are not "giants" themselves but they are giant slayers. Put them in a group of Giants otherwise known as "group of death" and watch them humiliate those so called Giants and qualify with ease, but put the same team in a group of "small" teams and watch them finding it difficult to beat those teams. Super Eagles are misunderstood as being Giants themselves because they slay Giants but they are not Giants. That's like saying David himself is a Giant in statue because he slayed a Giant. But the truth is God gave him the grace to take down the Giant because God uses weak things to confound the mighty (1.Cor 1:27). |
