go and join Nigeria Nostalgia project - pre Independence Nigeria. It's a Facebook group. Even the major Bini historian, Nosa Uwaila and other Edos said times without number that Esans are not Edo prompting an Esan girl on that group to open a thread on that topic.

You can as well join Edo Political world on Facebook and see how Ika is solidly represented on that group. Stop saying what you don't know. Ekpons are not Ika. They are Esan. They speak Ika but all their cultures are Esans. Ika on the other hand have mostly Bini cultures. And those deities you talked about exist in Ika land. You're the most ignorant person I've ever come across on Facebook. All your comments don't make a single sense. Just expressing emotions instead of trying to make sense.
I am on those pages. Ika people are not edo or esan or whatever fantasy they're living in. Even illushi people in esan land bear Igbo names but they are not esan. We esan people see them as settling tribes and that's it. They should not annex themselves into our bible history. They're simply Igbo people who don't know it.

Esan, Afemai and bini are Benin people.

Ika, anioma, etc they are pure igbos. Igbo kwenu!

PabloAfricanus:
Lol.
You are clearly taking artificial state boundaries to be equivalent to precolonial ethnic boundaries...
Or you are just uninformed on how migration works.
If your wish comes true, the artificial boundaries would only be readjusted to what it was before the formation of "Edo" state.
As to your last statement, cmon now grin
There were Igbo, Yoruba, igalla people in the ancient Bini empire.
Are you not aware Agho Obaseki's lineage is from Asaba? Bini like all other conquering monarchies absorbed neighbouring tribes and ethnic groups.
That was not a bad thing.
Lol I heard that but I didn't know it was true. Sorry if this post seemed offensive I was just angry once I heard a bunch of Igbo names only to hear them say they're esan. I do not like to see my culture and history eroded away just cos there's a large amount of Igbo settlers in esan land and auchi. It doesn't work that way, either you are Igbo with Igbo name or esan with esan name. Fair enough some very few Esans bear yoruba names but then again names like Eko, ogbeni and oshodi and maybe idowu have meanings in esan language. Our deities also sound yoruboid e.g osun, ayelala, ogun and it's obvious in most esan surnames. So I can't argue against that.

Igbo people are fond of insulting edo's and now that I am a proud tribalist who has had enough of their shit, I will reciprocate their insults.

PabloAfricanus:
I sort of disagree with the settling part, a lot of unrelated groups and tribes were inadvertently carved into "states" when the military boys were doing their thing.
The Igbankes and Ekpons are good examples.
They did not MIGRATE nor SETTLE into where they now live, they have always been there.
If history is anything to go by, it was the Bini empire that expanded into and settled into most of the area they now claim as territory.

However, your corrections of very popular historical views among the Aniomas would have been a small thing if it was a completely Anioma phenomenon.
You need to listen to the Onichas, Ogutas and Ogbarus who have taken Bini cultural influence to another level of interpretation. How these people managed to convince themselves they are descendants of next door Bini is the most hilarious tripe I've heard in a long time.
I won't even bother with the Ikwerres and their Akalaka was a Bini prince lullaby.
Kudos to the Bini's for not flipping and taking all these bogus claims and counter claims to Bini origin calmly and without giving any room for rancour or outrage. Now that is class and royalty.
The Igbos I know would have turned the whole affair into a free for all rofo rofo mudslinging fight grin
You sound like a smart guy. I still reckon the igbanke people migrated to edo land at some point in time. Either way after Nigeria is dissolved they should migrate back. Same with the ijaws who seem to be every where this days both in the south east and south west. Every body should be ready to go back. No more Nkechi and chinenye in my lands.

I totally agree with you. I guess we need more people like you to tell them this. In the past a lot of migrations occurred however what matters today is your identity today or else the world would be a confusing place. You cannot speak Spanish, bear Spanish names and practice Spanish culture yet claim to be French.
Yes sir that's exactly what I'm saying!

This is a deep question that many of them would barely be able to give a cogent answer too. This question is deep in that when asked it leaves the other person in deep thoughts figuring out why they speak Igbo and not Edo and it points them to the most possible answer but in their mind reject that which seems to be most likely the truth and they return to their regular mantra as usual.
The oba of Benin does not see them as his people. They are settling tribes

But Pablo, why are you quoting me along that mad man? Does any of the things he wrote make sense? Even saying Itsekiri is more related to Edo than Urhobos and Isoko is the height of his stupidity. I've seen Benin people that said Esans are not real Edo and this one is here talking trash. Ika is more related to Edo than Itsekiri is. But the Urhobos and Isokos are the most related and this one is here talking trash
Any Benin person you hear saying Esans are not real edo's tell them to tell you where esan came from even though history shows they were Chiefs and doctors of the Benin empire? Olodo.

You are ika. You are Igbo and you know it. If you like speak edo language, it doesn't make you edo. You are still Igbo descendants. You people should go back to delta state.
CultureRe: Esan People Are Not Igbo! by Monkeydeychop(op): 2:10am On Feb 27, 2017
I wish I can bring my edo scholars into this discussion to shut you igbos falsifying our history.
There is nothing like "Esans are not real edo's" that's like saying ife Yoruba's are not the same as Yorubas from oyo. You can go and read esan history and language. It's bini history as well. We are only seen as a tribe because we migrated further north due to the tyranny of the oba don't make me repeat myself.

Ikas are not real edo's and they know they are seen differently in edo state and that is because they simply are not edo's. esan, owan, Afemai, etsako, those are the real edo's. the rest like ijaw, anioma/ika people are NOT.

Itsekiri people are descendants of the bini empire cos their history states they descended from a Benin prince I think his name was Olua you can go and read it.

Delta people have no relation with us except through slavery you can go and read about yourself.

Don't falsify our history just because you have none. Igbos outnumber us in population and they're migrants that's why I fear what they're doing in esan land is operation take over. Anyone called Nkechi best not call herself Omo edo, she is Igbo!

One. I am not Biafran.

Two. Igbanke is not Esan.

If you made this post because Biafra people are claiming Igbanke (which is actually Ika), why is the post now talking about Esan as if Igbo people are claiming Esan?
Again go and read what your biafran brothers are saying that igbanke is Igbo blah blah they want to claim part of edo.

Simply tell the settlers in esan land who are ika and ekpon people to move out of the state.

I'm not a tribalist. Edo's can't come to anambra and say onitsha people are edo's and will their land is ours etc.

What kind of attention-seeking is this? At what point in history, past and present, did Igbo people ever claim the Esan are Igbos? undecided
Go and read your Biafra people posting that igbanke people in edo state are with them I'm basically saying those people are igbos and will vacate the state once Biafra is actualised.

pazienza:
In the colonial reports, some Esan communities admitted that they migrated from
Igboland.
And there are also Western Igbo communities with villages whose founders were of Esan origin.

Other than that, Esan is Esan and Igbo is Igbo.
I'm yet to see any Igbo person claim Esan people, the Esan language is not intelligible to the Igbo. The OP is an attention seeker.

https://www.nairaland.com/3463205/igbo-speaking-people-inter-relationship
There is no such thing as "Igbo community of esan origin". That is boulder dash. I've been noticing igbos trying to force themselves into our history to suit their Biafra agenda, it won't work and you people best be careful. If the oba of Benin sees all thes fallacies igbos are saying he will be greatly pissed.
We Esans acknowledge Igbo people have been migrating to our lands now especially since the Benin empire subjected a fair amount of them to slavery. That's as far as our relationship went. There are no credible evidences of Esans intertwining with igbos or whatever it is you're crying to claim.

I used to have a great respect for igbos but these days I do not because of the antics I've heard you guys spew about the edo tribe.

Igbo has no root whatsoever in edo state.

CultureRe: Esan People Are Not Igbo! by Monkeydeychop(op): 11:24am On Feb 26, 2017
There are igbos trying to include edo in their Biafra agenda and I came to put that shit to an end. Esans did not mate with Igbo people. There are settler tribes like anioma and ekpon people in edo state today who carry Igbo names but that's Because they are Igbo! Gradually they are coming to grab esan land and annex themselves into our beautiful Benin history. Lai Lai God forbid please don't try it! There's a reason why they were absconded by the oba of Lagos and I hope the o a of Benin does the same before shit gets out of hand.
Ika and ekpon people please o no offence but you people are not Esans, you are merely settlers from Igbo land.
We Esans, Afemai, etsako etc are all bini people from the Benin empire.
Infact Yoruba's in ondo, ekiti and some parts of Lagos and ogun are also descendants of the empire. There is no Igbo in our history. Our god of thunder is esango not amadioha.
Any Igbo man you here trying to include edo in their Biafra thing, warn them not to. Edo's do not even belong to the south south. We are our own Midwest identity. Even the delta people we are not related to them all, only the itsekiri people. The rest of them were just slaves who's language evolved to something similar to ours. Nothing more.

If Nigeria is to split, we are either going as our own Midwest region or we'd join oduduwa. But not niger delta or Biafra. Every body is just trying to grab edo and her history even the ijaw people in edo who are now saying they're the traditional owners. Oloshi. All foreigners should just leave my state please. They should either submit to the language and culture or go. Lagos now yoruba is included in their assemblies. Meanwhile in edo I'm seeing so called esan people from so called "ekpon" ethnic group answering names like Nkechi and chinenye instead of omoye or omosede. Please you are not Esans. You are simply Igbo! Don't distort or try to force yourselves into our history.
Thanks
CultureEsan People Are Not Igbo! by Monkeydeychop(op): 4:27am On Feb 26, 2017
Please for the last time, esan people of edo state are not Igbo nor are they related to Igbo. Go and read their history, the Esans were chiefs of the Benin empire who fled due to the tyranny of the oba. Just like the Afemai, and etsako people. We were eventually reunited with the oba and he gave the Chiefs titles like onojie. Esan people are bini people but we're seen as a different tribe for some weird reason I don't know of.
Esan people answer names like omoye, oyegun, omosede, adesuwa etc. esan gods are osun(god of medicine), olokun(god of the sea), ayelala (wicked deity I believe) ogun(god of iron and war) and esu(trickster god)

There are people called aniomas who are Igbo settler tribes in edo state. They've adopted edo names and are trying to annex themselves into edo history. They are not descendants of the Benin empire or indigenous to the state.
Not all Esans are fair skinned, few are. Igbos think they're the only ones who are fair skinned which means Esans must have Igbo blood. This is a stupid lie I hear them say.
No offence to igbos but please just stop. We edo's are working towards uniting ourselves. If there's any tribe edo's can even be related to it's the Yoruba's. not igbos.
Esans don't answer names like chinyere or Nkechi. Any edo person you see answering Igbo names are Igbo people. Our Chiefs are called onojie infact in uromi our king is called "OJUROMI" not igwe. In owan their king is "ElaWure" not igwe.

Chikena!

I advise you educate yourself Mr man before you talk shit! I do not regret voting Buhari, my only quarrel with him is that he's slow to implement things. Other than he's doing good so far. I was happy to see him ban importation of cars. You people who don't know how to grow an economy were wailing lol.

If I am to use my sense I will say secession is only ever beneficial if the country is developed. Look at 3rd countries who separated, they're all shit today. Let Nigeria be developed first before it separates.

Now if I am to talk with sentiment, let us divide right now right now I am tired of seeing foreigners in my land I'd rather my tribesman rule my country!
