sehr guht Bruder wink

German is pretty easy to learn, it's very similar to English
Father - Vater
Mother - Mutter
Sister - Schwester
Man - Mann
Bear - Bär
English is like a rip off of German
LOL!
Nice one man!
I hold a weekly German practice session. You can join us if you want.

How did you cope with the Language?

I'm nearly going mad here honestly and they are too proud and sometimes pretend like they have no knowledge of English just so you can speak it, and they still kind of get upset when you speak it wrongly, too proud

Unlike Poland that are very helpful and are willing to smile at your nonsense way of speaking but still correct you

Thank God for fellow expats, at least it makes one less frustrated and you understand they are in your shoes cry
Are you based in Germany?
If you are based in France, then I wouldn’t be surprised. But I know Germans, at least in my experience, are the most tolerant when it comes to the language. They listen to you with patience, smile and don’t mind speaking English if you’re are shy to communicate in German.
Here’s an evidence to that; a video I made with a Nigerian, who shared her experience with the language in Germany

I need to learn better languages that will matter and take me places.

I wouldn’t disagree with you. The more multilingual you are, especially in international languages, the more opportunities you can have.

Thanks for sharing. I never thought Germans are that nice. Can you share your experience as a black man in your community? Any racial hate?
Here’s a video that I made with a Nigeria student in one of the cities tagged as the most ‚racist‘ in Germany

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JKNU7N07vE
You shills watch it and hear from the horse’s mouth.
I personally haven’t experienced anything like that, and it could be due to many reasons, the main one being my kind of Person. What we get most times is a reflection of who we are.
Feel free to share your thoughts.

I have been using the platform since February last year and have over 500 connections now. It may take you some time to understand, but trust me it’s really easy to use. Just give it time.

Done that already but hey are wasting alot of time to respond.
Meanwhile I studied Business Management but want to do nursing. So I decided to link it up by doing a masters program in Health Care Management or any good course relating to Health Management.
I have done part time training as an Auxiliary Nurse here in Nigeria but I intend to do this full time in Europe. Please guide me.
Okay. So, nursing or working as a nurse in Germany works a bit differently - first and foremost, to practice nursing, medicine, pharmacy or core fields like that which require very close interactions with the locals (native people), a level of German language proficiency is always required. So, just keep this at the back of your mind.
Health Care Management or related courses can be done completely in English language, especially at the Masters level. So, I can honestly tell you that with your Business Management degree, you can easily secure an admission to study Health Care Management or a related course.
Send me a DM on Setlinn and I will share some courses/universities with you, so you can look up their requirements.

Education / Moving From Nigeria To Germany (A Nigerian Student‘s Experience) by monkmike(m): 9:33am On Jul 10, 2022
You must have heard a lot about studying in Germany and the many perks that come with, including;
Tuition-free
Work while studying
Good health insurance coverage
Equal rights as other student, German and EU
Social benefits for the less privileged
Thousands of scholarship opportunities
Long term stay during and after your studies...... the list goes on.... you can add to it.
Except for the current delay on issuing a student visa (appointment) in Nigeria, moving from Nigeria to Germany via studies is actually very easy.
I interviewed Kelechi in this video; she shares her story about how it all started and all she had to do:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekLoksZklik

I hope you learn a thing or two. Feel free to add your comments and questions. Let’s learn from one another.
God bless Nigeria!

If you are not open to change in the abroad, especially as a newcomer, be prepared to soon join the gang of dis abroad sef no be am, it is not what people say it is blah blah because you de find big jobs, you be graduate.....na body go tell you soon.....you have to pay bills here, a lot of bills, and anything you can do legitimately to pay those bills is welcome. There's dignity in labour in the abroad... nobody belittles you for working hard to pay bills. Person wey carry naija mentality say him na graduate e no go fit do security or wash plate or do waiter, na OYO be your case. If you get a big job as a newcomer, great! But if you can't, start somewhere, things will definitely fall in place with time. I mean you will be alright in no time. It is an organized system that enables you to plan ahead, no be like naija wey you no fit plan. Dollar fit be N160/$ this year and N600/$ next year, import duty for an item fit be 10% this year and 70% next yr, sch fees fit be 40k this yr and 100k next yr. So disorganized. Very useless leaders behaving like morons and the majority of the masses supporting them.
Interesting insights.
People really need to know the truth on matters of moving abroad.

any opportunities for a Nigerian Dr who don't know how to speak German to work there, even in academic.
Yes, in that case, you will apply for medical but non-practicing professions, maybe areas like Biotechnology or International Health Management.
Have you explored any of the above professions, or what do you have in mind?
Career / How To Play Football Professionally In Germany (true Life Story) by monkmike(m): 10:31am On Jul 08, 2022
Not many people know this, and even if they do, they may not tell you.
If you are a footballer in Nigeria and want to play professionally in Germany, come to Germany with a student visa, then go to clubs directly and seek trials.
Here is a live example of a student from Cameroon that I interviewed here in Germany.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ObzcTEDo_A

It is easy, you just have to come as a student, and the rest is like visiting an office during their open hours! Nothing more!

i am interested in studying Bachelor in computer science in Germany,i have important questions.No1:what of feeding and accomadation in the school.No2:which school in Germany is offering the scholarship.
You have to take care of your feeding and accommodation; the school provides hostels for rent, but not food for chop.
Scholarship are provided by organizations - private and public. You can apply for them to study in most universities. So, it is the other way round - scholarship from organizations to study in most universities.

It always pays to learn the official language of the country you find yourself in, and a little or much of the local language there. You'll never know how far it can go for you. There are more opportunities open to those who can understand or have a grasp of the surrounding language.

Good one, OP. Success doesn't come on a platter of gold.
I couldn’t agree more with your response.
The main secret to success abroad, is speaking the native/official language. You may succeed without it, but with the language your opportunities are limitless - you will have more doors opened for you.
Of course, not everyone is good with learning a foreign language, but if you are willing, there’s always a way out.
Wherever you find yourself abroad, take the local language seriously. Nigerians have been representing nicely in diaspora! Am proud to be one!
