As the restructuring within the Peoples Democratic Party gathers steam, it appears the party is gradually leaning towards the young minds within its fold as it seeks relaunch itself after her unsuccessful outing at the 2015 general elections.

The National Youth Leader of the Party, Abdullahi Hussaini MaiBasira a well-read intellectual , and a natural talent identifier with vast experience both as Students Union Leader and as Speaker of the Nigerian Youth Parliament is leading this drive,?towards the transformation of the party from a gerontocratic machine into a largely egalitarian system that understands the demography, dynamics, and demands of a political party in the 21st century.



These are familiar grounds for Maibasira who as President of the Students Union Government in Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto over ten years ago,initiated and nurtured several positive reforms that redefined students unionism in the caliphate city forever.

These antecedents as a natural reformer precedes him, even as his thoughts on the reform of the youth arm of the party seems to tally with the expectations of well meaning faithful across the party?.

Having received approval for his recommendations he has assembled a crack team of seasoned young minds with a track record of consistency to help with the delicate task of restructuring the Party Youth system and repositioning it to play a vital role as party emerge to take its rightful place in the Nigerian political landscape.

Tony Nwolu MP_editIs a Member of the House of Representatives representing the Oshodi / Isolo Federal constituency, A graduate of the Abia state University, he pioneered the first ever Nokia centre in Nigeria which went on to provide support for Young entrepreneurs.

Hon Nwulu founded the MV2 a Non-profit organisation that assist young people with clear vision and innovative business ideas and has so far provided interest free loans to over 6,000 youths.

A very passionate member of the House of Representatives, Hon Nwulu has made the health care and education for his constituents a top priority.

He is also the National Coordinator, PDP Youth Advocacy Initiative; with registration at the Office of the National Youth Leader of the Party. He is a strong believer in party reforms and youth main streaming.

A Firm believer in the Nigerian Project Barr Inusa was a Recipient of the Ambassador of Peace award from the African First Ladies Peace Mission, and a leading member of the Goodluck support group in Gombe state.

He served as a member of the Youth mobilisation Committee of the 2015 PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, and currently runs a successful private Legal Practice.

A member of both Chattered Institute of commerce and the Intercontinental council of e-commerce consultants Adebayo is a Cisco certified network professional.

A passionate writer and a strong advocate for the advancement of Democracy and the rights of citizens, Adebayo has served as Special assistant to the Ondo State Governor and is currently the Peoples Democratic Party state Youth Leader in Ondo State.

Malik is actively involved in the design and delivery of strategic behavioural communication programs aimed at ensuring community participation and involvement in HIV/AIDS control.

He was the Director General of the Youth wing Of the Goodluck Support Group, and also served as secretary of the Committee on Protocol and Entertainment of the PDP presidential campaign Organisation in 2007, and as member of both the Goodluck/Sambo campaign organisation in 2011 and 2015.

He is currently the National Secretary of the PDP National Youth Vanguard registered with the Office of the PDP National Youth Leader.

A shining example in the youth Circles for years, He was the Special Assistant to the former Nigerian Minister of Sports, and Media aide to a former Minister of State Defence and later Foreign affairs.

In 2010, Ohimai became the youngest presidential campaign manager in modern democratic history, inspiring many youths to become involved in the Nigerian political process for the first time.

Ohimai is also an ambassador for Microsoft Internet Safety, Security and Privacy Initiative for Nigeria (MISSPIN), where he has worked to encourage Nigerian youths to shun cyber-crime and scam through the B.L.I.N.G. project.

In November 2012, Ohimai was appointed Board member, Nigeria Academicals Sports Committee (NASCOM), the body charged by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the National Sports Commission (NSC) to enhance talent identification and sports development at the grass roots, especially in Secondary Schools. He is the Board Secretary of NASCOM.

A very popular youth figure on so many social media platforms, his ability to rally the youth for various causes has endeared him to the hearts of many. ?

In 2007 she served as member of the Intelligence and Security committee of the PDP Gubernational campaign organization in Kaduna state after which she was appointed as a Special Assistant to the Kaduna state Governor on water resources in 2008.

She was the Zonal Women leader Zone 2 for the Goodluck /Sambo 2011 Presidential Campaign Organisation in Kaduna state and. was appointed as Community Assistant to the Governor in 2014.

Her passion for football and support for sport’s activities and youth development earned her the Narayi Footballers Award .

Elected President of National Association of Nigerian Students in 2010, Ini was a member of the National Working Group on NEPAD/ African Peer Review Mechanism , a delegate to the 2013 World Peace Forum in Hawaii United States, a participant at the World youth forum in Seliger, Russia? and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship of Rotary International.

A versatile and articulate young man Comrade Ini became the Technical Assistant on Millennium Development Goals in the Presidency in 2012 at age 28 from where he was appointed by Governor Godswill Akpabio as Special Assistant on Students Matters in July of 2013 a position he held till the 29 of May this year.

?He served as a member of the Akwa Ibom State Campaign council of the PDP as well as the PDPPCO 2015 and is currently a Special Assistant to the Governor on Poltical Matters, Akwa Ibom State.

An Invited Observer to the 33rd Programme Co-coordinating Board (PCB) Meeting of UNAIDS in Geneva, Switzerland, Oche was the recipient of the Best HIV/AIDS Peer Education Trainer (NYSC/UNICEF) award in 2006 and the Vice-Chancellors letter of commendation for campaigns toward the prevention of HIV/AIDS in Usmanu Danfodiyo University in 2004.

An Executive Director with Voices Nigeria , Oche served on the civil Society and support group’s committee of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation 2015, was a member of the Technical Committee of Peoples Democratic Party, and Chairman Media Sub-committee for NANS , NYCN and PDP Youth National Unity Rally.

He is currently a Pastor with the Redeemed Christian church of God.

The wives of the late‎ Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, the Olubuse II, by tradition cannot re-marry after the demise of their husband, according to a palace chief.

The chief, who preferred not to be named, said the order was prescribed by the Ife tradition since the Ooni is not considered dead but to have transited to a higher realm.

Maintaining that the Ooni still lives, he said it is forbidden for wives left behind by Oba Sijuwade to re-marry.

He said: “The rules is general and applies to all Ooni that has passed on and not peculiar to the wives of Oba Sijuwade, the immediate past Ooni. There may not be a clearly defined repercussion against the tradition but it is advisable that the order is obeyed at all times and for all generations. The best that can happen to the oloris left behind by any late Ooni is for them to remain single or be inherited by the reigning Ooni.”

He added that it does not matter whether the wives are young or old, “what matters is that the tradition must be sustained in the overall interest of the society.”

The late Ooni’s wives are Oloris Morisola, Ladun, Odunayo, Adedolapo and Linda and their ages are between 40’s and 60’s.

The first wife, Olori Yetunde, the mother of the first son, Prince Adetokubo, died some years ago, long before Oba Sijuwade.

Barely 24 hours after his inauguration as President and Commander-in-Chief of Nigeria, it appears President Muhammadu Buhari may have broken a campaign promise to scrap the office of the First Lady.

Apart from pouring the scalding water on Oduto, the woman also used the pot to hit his face repeatedly, smashing it beyond recognition.


Two armed robbers, Kayode Oduto and Quadri Lateef, got more than they bargained for when they decided to attack the home of a Lagos housewife, who got furious at their effrontery and doused them with hot water, leading to their arrest and are now in the custody of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja.

Police investigators discovered that Lateef used to live in the area where they went to rob. It was gathered through interrogation that it was Lateef who told Oduto that he knew every nook and cranny of the area and was sure his knowledge would make the operation easy. Lateef picked a building, which he told Oduto was inhabited by a rich man, simply known as Mr Charles. When they reached the targeted building, the gate was locked, but the generator was on.

The two men quickly scaled the fence since they knew there were no dogs. Oduto switched off the generator and the two men took strategic positions. Oduto had a cut-to-size locally-made pistol, while Lateef had a toy gun. A few minutes after the generator went off, the owner of the house, Charles, stepped out of the house to find out what went wrong. Oduto pointed a gun at his head and herded him back into the house, while Lateef followed closely behind.

The robbers ordered the man to bring his money and gold. He told them that the money was in the master’s bedroom. As they were walking towards his bedroom, the man suddenly turned and grabbed Oduto, trying to dispossess him of the gun. Rather than assist his partner, a petrified Lateef just stood and watched.

The man was able to pin Oduto down. Lateef who had watched as his partner was pinned down, took to his heels.

The woman, who lives with her family at the Kollington area of Alagbado on the outskirts of Lagos, according to police reports, was boiling water to make 'Poundo Yam' for her family when the dare-devils struck, demanding for money and gold. As they were busy ransacking the apartment, the woman sneaked into her kitchen and came back with the boiling water which she poured on Oduto while her husband seized the opportunity to disarm him of his gun and pinned him down. Lateef sensing they were in danger, took to his heels but the woman and her husband's screams alerted other residents who gave him a hot ursuit and apprehended him.

A police source narrated the funny incident:

"As Lateef took off, the man shouted thief! thief! His wife, who was cooking in the kitchen, rushed out. She had to use a rechargeable lantern to make out the figures on the ground since the generator was off. She saw her husband struggling to continue to pin Oduto down.

Immediately she realised what was happening, she ran back to the kitchen. She rushed back to the kitchen, came out with the hot water and poured it on the suspect’s face. After she poured him the hot water, she used the pot to hit his face repeatedly. She ran outside and started shouting for help. Other residents ran to help and the police were invited. The suspect’s face was a mess."
