Starlink has gotten worse, nothing has improved, at least in Abuja. Personally, I don't use it until after midnight as it's frustrating during the day. I have the MTN ODU which I use during the day. Starlink becomes fast after midnight, I get up to 300Mbps upwards. The reason I still keep starlink is because of stability. Starlink has 99.9% uptime reliability. You can bet your life that it will up and running anytime you want to do basic browsing. My frustration with Starlink is streaming. It frustrates the hell out of me. I know that people in less congested states still enjoy it almost anytime of the day, but in Abuja, it's not serving my day time usages.

Here in Kaduna we can never relate Starlink maintain stable connection irrespective of the hours of the day

The problem with electricity in Nigeria is that it is very very expensive. And it is going to cost a lot of money, more than even our budget ttonfix

So we got to attract investors.

And the way forward is cost reflective tarrif


Trying to make electricity affordable is why we don't have light at all. The people who make the electricity have their own bills to pay and their own lives to live

They ain't going to sacrifice their lives to give us cheap power.

Yeah, if it makes you hate me, so be it, but either cost reflective tarrifs or we accept our fate.

Yes because...the losses from the other bands is making the overall loss too much for even band A.

India has the same system we do, or something similar. Commerical and industrial consumers are the band A there, others, most especially rural areas are the other bands. And it is not working...especially when times are very very hot, there are power cuts.

The best way to end all that is to have everyone from the rich to the poor pay a cost reflective tarrif, just like they do in the GSM sector, where everyone pays the same, rich or poor. That guarantees ROI for any investor, which leads to more money flowing in, and imprivement of power supply.

BUt since most people do not want that, here we are.

But problem be say Nigerians are very power if you implement tarrif above 200 naira many people won't be able to pay except the light will be for the elite only

You are the minority. And the problem is, those of us who do not pay at cost reflective tarrifs are the majority.

And the result is simple...the power sector does not make enough cash to pay running costs, or pay workers a decent salary...which is why many of their workers engage in corrupt activities to survive.

And why we cannot have light. When you are expected to distribute N328 billion of power and the revenue raised is just 209 billion naira, and you got to pay other costs...there is no money for poles, transformers, wires etc...which is why consumers buy


I would rather pay a cost reflective tarrif, than pay the subsidised rate, and watch my electricity improve, and no more free government money as subsidy. We have tried that model for over 50 years, it's not working. It even stopped working when the first power cuts happend in 1978.

But the problem is even on the Band A many times we don't get the promise supply hours

Most nigerians do not pay an income tax to government, and income tax has not been astronomically increased, also most electricity bills are massively in theory subsidised. 80% of Nigerians pay electricity bills below N100 per kwh, with some doing below N60 per kwh when the market price is N250 per kwh or higher.

As for fuel, you were paying for subsidesed fuel with debt , and it was that debt that forced it off. And tinubu is still a bad leader tho.

Be like na only you dey pay below 100 Naira per KWh

I use FibreOne, Ikonectt and only just recently connected to MTN FiberX on Monday. Of the three, MTN FiberX is the only one that gives about half the download speed as the upload speed. I signed up for the 50Mbps base plan on MTN FiberX and I've never gotten higher than 27Mbps as upload speed. But one thing I like about it is that it's the only one among the three that gives the closest to the plan signed up for.

Why are they doing this it doesn't make sense tbh i saw someone on the 1Gbps plan he is only getting 400Mbps as upload speed.

In fibre both up and down are the same but in Nigeria reverse is the case

I have both the Airtel and MTN ODU and both have good network in my environment. Judging by their performance, I'd pick the Airtel over the MTN any day any time.

For me MTN is the best as they don't have that fair usage policy bullshit my guy sub on 8th August and because many devices are connected hin don hit the FUP already and his speed has been throttled to even stream YouTube na wahala
