Our Great motherland
given to us by Eledumare
our diviner
a land of milk and honey
a fortified land of nature
where the river of life flowed from has been sabotaged with the blood of our loved ones

Agony and pain has been our clothes worn on us by our saviours
who chameleoned our hearts to black and kept its people in awe!

Our blood our strength
Our imbue our mirth
deep feelings for one another
fresh in us like cool breeze
has been smouldered
from crock crow till chicken roost

Our men of indubitable valour bestored with unconquerable spirits
ruthless at war
gigantic in size
has been defeated by our dogmatic saviours

Our Great motherland
whose citadel we run to for anchor
to whom our prayers of bountiful harvest and fortification is rendered to
has been defiled and abandoned

We were seen as strange beings
jumping up and down the river bank
making horrid faces

Our milieu they converted to colony
they introduced Christianity which was seen as the poetry of the new religion
with hymn about brothers who sat in darkness and in fear haunted thier souls

Our bequeathed heroes whose arduous work and knowledge we cherished were reprimanded
Our cultures norms and traditions were whittled leaving behind thier hazy culture

No rush will cause us to despairing claim
our lives they made not simple but tough
going along the kutcha
a muddled path

We will validate the cosmic string of harmony
hearing the symphonic beats we will be entranced no matter the fissure galore.

HOPEFUL ORPHAN

Lost in a world of negligence and brutality
I was born in the busiest times of God when he was sketching lines

Day and night I walk under the universal opened vast sky and unruly sun searching for my specific need
assisted by grievous pains which has become so regular

Filled with difficulties, i decline to adhere to the words of those that wrote
me off

For i am not blinded by egoism
I am an unnoticed pleb of creation and construction whose food is thinking and water tears with a tattered fate
Yet I chose to be human anticipating for a better tomorrow

I count not on how many times i am kicked away,
Ill-housed, ill-Fed, given sack for clothes, tears for water and made to overwork as though i am immortal
I will assuage cordial leaving behind devastating disputes

For i will learn skilful thoughts
At first light,
I will summon the spirits of my resting fathers upon the hills and mountains,
the birds of the air on the trees,
the aqua habitat on the sea shore,
the monstrous beast of the earth on land,
to teach me wisdom and without any regret, i will rekindle my inner candle

In sweet rebirth
I will rise a better man
not ashamed to face the world,
Those who doubt my talents
In secret fear my strength
let them bury their prejudice
For i will search for unification roaming on the ethereal plain no matter how raucous i was treated
and I will do my best without losing the depth of my soul as an orphan.
