Thierry Henry once said that the defendant he found most annoying was Taribo West because during their time at French ligue one, Taribo would man mark him and not give him space at all.

I am saying this against the backdrop of my observation in modern football: they don't man mark players anymore.

Messi roams free, Mbappe too. Dangerous players oo. Dem go leave them to dey prowl like hungry lion.

Old football will assign at least one player to follow these guys. Yes Messi is hard to mark but he's old now na. I don't agree with some aspects of these modern game
That's because football is now advanced. There has been a lot of fluidity. Enrique once said his vision is to have 11 players who are comfortable in every position on the pitch. These players would constantly rotate throughout the match, frequently changing position. How do you man mark a team like that? 😁

Messi? He would drag the defender all the way to meet Dibu and turn back to score from the space the defender vacated. 😂

So the solution is to modify the press to disrupt their buildup or perfect your zonal marking.

Speak for yourself. Nothing concern me with the Ronaldo vs Messi fandom, and projecting love for Ronaldo and Morocco's elimination of Portugal as reason for hatewatching Morocco is puerile.

In fact, I supported Morocco until their shitshow at the AFCON. The current Morocco has always been a good ball playing side and all those antics they pulled at the AFCON were off putting.

Ivory Coast hosted the AFCON before theirs and won it. No one raised an eyebrow or accused them of underhand tactics.

If Morocco wants to win the AFCON, they should do so on their football merit and not resort to refereeing bias/assisted officiating, underhand tactics and boardroom politics.

I rate them highly and actually picked them over Netherlands and will pick them over Canada in the R16 but the last AFCON left a sour taste in my mouth so I'll be hatewatching them until they're knocked out. Hopefully in the Q/finals.
We're on the same train. I'm hate watching them too due to that rubbish they did at the last AFCON. Hopefully, Jonathan David do them something strong.

Abeg, make mouth as a you please. Gabriel and Martinelli have been massive today.

Kudos to Japan though. The most Solidly tactically disciplined side outside the Top 5 favs.

Tomiyasu, your former guy too was good for Japan.
😂😂😂

Yea. Japan really tried. Since that famous 2-2 draw against Senegal, I've been following them. They're stubborn and are built for various tactics.

Tomiyasu is a player I really admire. Sadly, injury did him dirty

naaah bros…i disagree….its not proven anywhere that looks matters to knowing whether a player is good or not…no b by look biko
Of course, I know look can be deceiving.
But we can't rule it out.
You're a striker, you are to face a defender in a one on one duel.
You're given 3 options - Huljsen (?), Magahles and Calvin Bassey. Who would you pick?
