AbleBooks Initiative, a Nigerian education initiative focused on inclusive learning, has been named a winner at the prestigious Moonshot Awards, emerging as the only Nigerian organization recognized in this year’s edition.

The initiative secured a $10,000 equity-free grant under the Learning category, which celebrates innovative solutions improving access to education globally.

The Moonshot Awards, organized by the Moonshot Platform, is a global program that supports young innovators and impact-driven projects addressing major challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 2025 edition received applications from thousands of participants across more than 100 countries, with only a select number of winners chosen across categories such as Learning, Health, and AI for Good.

AbleBooks Initiative, founded by Aanuoluwapo Omoleye, stood out for its work in developing inclusive storybooks and learning materials for children with disabilities, particularly deaf children. The initiative creates content adapted into accessible formats such as sign language, large print, and simplified text to helping bridge the gap for children often excluded from mainstream education.

In addition to the financial grant, winners of the Moonshot Awards gain access to mentorship, global exposure, and a network of changemakers working to scale impactful solutions worldwide.

The awards ceremony was held in New York City, where outstanding young innovators from around the world were recognized for their contributions to solving real-world problems.

AbleBooks’ recognition not only highlights the importance of inclusive education but also places Nigeria on the global map of impactful, youth-led innovation, marking a significant milestone as the country’s sole representative among this year’s winners.

A deaf lady, Aanuoluwapo Omoleye Busade has graduated with a first class honors and emerged the best graduating student from the department of Special Education & Rehabilitation Sciences from the prestigious University of Ibadan. She minored in Economics.

She also emerged the following:
1. University's overall best graduating student with disability.
2. Best graduating student from her department.
3. Best graduating indigent student.

It is also worthy of note that she was the ONLY STUDENT WITH DISABILITY in her whole class, both at the departmental and faculty level, yet, she went against all odds to emerge the best.

During her time at the University of Ibadan, she was very active in extra-curricular activities.

This is really special and praise worthy.
Congratulations to her.

FamilyRe: Am I Wicked Or Did I Do The Right Thing? by MoyosoreEkenimi: 12:59pm On Oct 10, 2021
My guy, na so. Endagearing planet.

Kobojunkie:
Yes you are wicked for releasing the gas into the atmosphere like you did, further endangering our planet. Instead of that stewpid act, you could have simply taken the cylinder into your room to store it. undecided

Anyways, you will eventually need to do some cooking of your own, right? Hopefully by then you would have learned some commonsense and also realized that to set boundaries, you do so with wisdom not foolishness. undecided
