Do you need Jesus to come down an tell you this is a SCAMMMMMMMMMM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dont be fooled. |
only one question. Did God tell him to run? Maybe so but I seriously doubt it. What will happen to his flock when he is president? The pastoral ministry is one that involves caring for people. Is he going to leave them for four years? The gifts and callings of God are without repentance. God will not call you into the pastoral ministry which is life-time calling and then switch gears half-way down the line to politics. He is not the son of man that he should repent. Unless Okotie didnt get his calling right the first time. peace. |
@Ashiwaju Please read my ealier posts and you will find I have not rubbished anywhere. We can disagree and still be civil. Aggression and cheap vulgarities will get you nowhere. The first step in nigeria changing is for people like you to learn that people can identify with different schools of thought and still be heard. Its live and let live. I wouldnt dignify your frivolities with answers. If you need an introduction read my earlier posts. You indulge in selective critisizms and still think you are being objective in your views. You are a man my dear and it will serve you to be more analytical in your thinking and not thrive on cheap outbursts of emotion. Peace. Learn to take a joke @ old glory You are welcome. Sail on my brother. |
@ Akolawole and Ashiwaju Were you guys Deported? No offense Intended. @ all Dont be fooled there are nigerians that oown their properties 100%. There was anigerian that bought a unit in a florida skyscrapper that wasnt even completed yet but he still got a mortgage of about $300,000 on the unit. He kept paying his mortgage month to month on a property that he wasnt living in. 13months down the line the building was completed and he decided to put it on sale thinking he had made a wrong investment. He was offered close to a million dollars for the unit. He now lives in a 5 bedroom sprawling property in maryland fully paid for. Whether you like it or not there are Nigerians making it big here. For the upteenth time I DONT BELIEVE SUCCESS IS ENVIRONMENTAL IT DEPENDS ON THE INDIVIDUAL. @ Old Glory People like you make it very far in life because you are true to yourself. Keep it up @ zionchic You need to take classes in anlytical thinking.You don't disect my post and tell me what way to go. read my earlier posts I didnt and wouldnt do that. You are entitled to your own opinion and i think i have respected that. It wouldnt be acrime to extend the same courtesy to me. |
@everyone A lot of you choose to see the glass half empty based on the cliche "foreigners do odd jobs in the west" I am a medical student here in the US with about a year to go. I didn't come on a student visa, i have an American citizenship by birth. I also did my primary and secondary school education in Nigeria which I will forever be grateful to my parents for. There are thousands of Nigerians here that hold down meaningful jobs. The assistant dean of the graduate school in my college is a Nigerian. I have a lot of friends in the IT Field earning in the range of $72,000 - $98,000 dollars p/a. We have thousand of Nigerians doctors, pharmacists, and other professionals here. It will amaze you the number of accomplished rich Nigerian doctors we have here in the US. We also have a lot of Nigerian doctors in training here. I can attest because this is my field. The problem is you choose to see the ones that do the odd jobs either because they are lazy or they are illegal immigrants or students. One of my friends who only got here three years ago by winning the Visa lottery has a good Job with Equifax (Atlanta) that pays about $98,000 a year. He graduated in Nigeria with a degree in computer science and did some certifications in programming Java etc. he lives in a $230,000 home. and after all his bills he still has enough for his building project in nNigeria (I hope he ddoesn'tread this) You need to come to Atlanta, Maryland, Texas, Kentucky, Illinois (to mention the ones I have seen) and see the way professional Nigerians live. I am not at the level yet because I am in med school but i see the way nNigeriansthat have gotten there live. One doctor Eze that i met last year studied medicine in Nigeria I went to his house for Christmas and he is living the American dream. He said hes only been here 5 years. Dont be deceived Nigerians are very BRILLIANT people. Dont get me wrong I don't believe success is environmental like I said in my earlier posts it depends on the individual. All i am saying is There are a lot of Nigerians here that are making it big. If you have a legal status and you have your stuff together. I don't see why you wouldn't make it. I can tell you that none of my friends do odd jobs. Even if a student does odd jobs its temporary, they will not remain at the level once they graduate (assuming they have a legal status). Its all part of learning in life. In Nigeriaven the students that will like to do odd jobs for whatever reason don't have it available. Like one of my friends said Nigerian campuses are like brothels for economic reasons. Girls prostituting themselves for money. If they had part-time jobs, a sizeable amount of them wouldn't prostitute but the greedy ones will still. Conclusion: Is the quality of life here better than niNigeriaCapital YES. Is it easier to make it here than in niNigeriaIt depends on the individual, success is not environmental, it depends on the individual. |
@Ashiwaju This is my problem with nigerian education. From your reply to my comment it is obvious you didnt read my previous response. Analytical thinking is obviously not one of your strong points. Couldnt you diagree oobjectively without using derogatory words like telling someone to be "mute". I wasnt going to dignify you with a response but then, ? People disagree on issues evryday and still maintain civility bearing in mind that there is both the rational and irrational schools of thought. I hope you are smart enough to catch my drift. Peace |
I had left a lengthy comment ealier indicative of the fact that there is no one right answer and I still maintain that. But I am suprised at how people have changed from the simple question asked on this thread and have had their opinions coloured by their situation and feelings rather thatn answering the simple question. From a lot of opinions on this thread you would think the question was "is it easier to make it abroad or nigeria"? The simple fact of the matter from the thread - topic is that Life is better abroad tahn in nigeria. Even the rich send their kids to school here and come for medicals too. (read my previous thread before you reply to me, it is more comprhensive) Concerning Success: I do not believe it is environmental (Abroad or nigeria), it depends on the individual. Peace |
There is no right or wrong answer to this question. Its down to the individual. However the fact remains that most of the contributions to this thread has been directed toward the middle class which is not a good representation of majority of nigeria but may be in the case of the US. My point is the percentage of nigerians that are suffering is insane. I dare to say 65% Kids hawking on the street countless undocumented murders, rapes, kidnappings, Jobless graduates etc I will be a doctor here in the US in few months and I will say even back at home in Nigeria I was priviledeged to be from a middle class family and could always afford to come here on holidays but it broke my heart all those years seeing the contrast between the standards of living. Anytime I go to Nigeria on holidays. I try to have fun and I also see all my friends that are doing well in business and their respective careers but the fact still remains that majority of nigerians endure suffering that many US citizens see in movies or on CNN The system is in shambles. Let me ask the comfortable nigerians some questions: 1. How do you feel driving in your vehicles and seeing a boy your sons age trying to sell to you under the scorching sun? Just another day in lagos eh? your hearts are hardenend so much so that its now a norm. 2. have you been to the public hospitals and check out the infrastructure? sorry i forgot you use private clinics. Most nigerians cannot even afford to pay registration fee for the hospitals. some cannot even afford transportation to the hospital and they die. 3. Do you pay your regular toll to the police officers at every checkpoint? (bribe) 4. What is the average time for picking up a body killed trying to cross the road? My last visit to lagos I saw two bodies in the last stages of total decomposition on public streets and kids see these sights too. 5. Have you experienced the traffic menace constituted by the "yellow devils" that leads to endless hours on the roads. You are probably used to it. These are the few i observed in my breif visit in 2005. The problem is the system is broken and a few Nigerians getting ahead doesnt take away the problem. I personally don't do well seeing the number of women and children suffering. The number of comfortable nigerians if negligible when compared to the nigerians suffering. This is not about how much money you make but dignity and decency for human life. This is widely accessible in the US and scarcely seen in nigeria. Inconclusion my answer to the question is Life is better here a million times over judging by these parameters. Like someone on this thread rigthfully said: "A country that pays a policeman 7000naira ($60) a month and gives him a gun is set for anarchy' |
@everbody Lighten up !!!!!! Dint get too serious about this. remember what apostle Paul said: Paul planted, Apollos watered, but God gives the increase. Only the Spirit of God can change, convince or convict any man. You have done your best by putting the word out, let the Holy spirit do His. I believe in miracles and i also believe in the fact that arguments don't change people. The Love of God changes people. Another cue: Paul said, I have not come to you in the excellence of mans eloquence or intelligence but rather in the demonstartion of Spirit and of Power. If you really want to get idekeson on you side, you will not even be upset at what he says or begrudge him for not believing. There was once you all ddidn'tbelieve as well. Go to your source of power (Pray for Him), let him see the person of Jesus in you writing, don't use phrases like "if you can read" The same is a perfect man that ddoesn'toffend in word. Finally you cannot place the cat before the horse. Pray for his salvation first and then believing in miracles will follow. The word of God cannot lie, it says: The natural man cannot understand the things of the Spirit because they are sspirituallydiscerned. I Love you all Shalom |
@ everybody I like the way you all have ignored reverend. Please keep it up. He is not a pastor or even a false prophet. He is a cheap internet TROLL having fun. @ reverend dude, its enough. the joke is played out. Go elsewhere. But take this from me there are somethings you dont joke about. peace @dearzi He Lives. Let your life keep showing forth his glory. keep spreading the word in your world (sphere of contact)that he died to save them. That is the way to put a smile on His (Jesus) face as he has done to your family. Shalom |
@ 4get_me My brother, A Lie is not the opposite of the truth, rather it goes in the same line as the truth and at some point deceitfully veers off. What I am Saying is that "Reverend" doesnt even qualify as a false prophet a better qualifier will be a 'Satanist' I do read my bible and will appreciate if we christians, redeemed by the blood of Jesus will not be agressive in our communication even if people don't agree with us. I live my life by one principle: Love. I love you with the love of God, but I also admonish you not to be quick to make statements like "you don't understand your bible" I am on the Lords side Trust me on one point: The devil has been lying to the world for six Million years. Lies like the 'Kinky mary' is outdated. He is more constructive than that this days. That is what i believe TV01 was talking about. The Bible says he will appear as an angel of light. Even the antichrist himself will first do the world a lot of good to get people on his side before revealing his true nature. I believe few or if any at all will believe the obvious lies of "Reverend". The only way to win this war is for us to keep getting the truth out in our everyday lives. Remember we are in the ministry of reconciliation. Shalom. |
@ishmael Well Said. |
@TV01 Very Well Said , |
@Ishmael Educated people disagree and maintain civility while at it. I guess you were not taught that in your ploytechnic. I am not an Engineer. I am a final year Medical Student. Cheap vulgarities will not get you anywhere. You need to start thinking outside the box. But then again You are only a technician. Keep living in koo koo land if it makes you feel any better. Whatever floats your boat my man, |
Please name the mechanics that are achievers and lets see how many know them. |
Whosai, this will be true when: Mechanics become better than Engineers. I leave the rest your imagination. The list is endless. True Education is about Wholistic development not masonry. |
@mokwosa There is nothing wrong as long as you dont overlook other critical factors. financial freedom while it helps doesnt equate to marital bliss. |
@ fluffy - Blessed is the man who doesnt offend in words and deeds. Always see beyond the man. Remember who your father is. How would He react? While we were yet sinners, Undeserving, filthy and God-cursers, Christ came and died for us. Love is the way to victory. Dont fight for Jesus or pastor Chris. I know Pastor personally, he doesnt even fight for himself. God bless you sister. @ Reverend - You are entitled to your own opinion and i will not blame you for that. Its normal to be skeptical about what we dont understand. I once had questions like you and once criticized like you, Any intellectual would. But after my personal encounter with Jesus many years ago, my perspective changed. I am very well educated and i have learnt you cannot mix spiritual things with intellectual things. I guess that is why it says in the bible that 'the wisdom of God is foolishness unto men" it also says: The natural Man Cannot understand the things of the spirit because they are spiritually discerned. My brother there is no intellectual argument that i can present to refute or change your perspective. I can only pray that you personally experience Jesus the way i did. That will always be my prayer for you out of a heart full of love and understanding. Cheers. |
This is to 'Donnie' and 'Gospelman' : Let me first commend you on your zeal for the work of Jesus. However, i implore to always remember the conversation (lifestyle) of our lord Jesus christ who was never out to defend himself or force himself on people. Do not read meanings to my admonition just know its coming from a heart full of love. I have had the opprtunity of being personal with Reverend Chris and Anita for many years. One thing that i learnt from them at home, away from church is humility, love and the fact that reverend Anita especially can never see wrong in people even if it is obvious. This is because of one law that is greater than micracles, faith, etc, Bible says on that one law hangs all the the others and the prophets. This law is LOVE. Pray for your enemies, and those that hate and despitefully use you. Without Love all our works is in vain. A couple of years in London, I was driving Reverend Anita to the airport on her way to Nigeria. We were alone in the car and started talking about the issue with pastor and Chris Okotie. All she had to say about Chris okotie was good. Keep emulating the the lifestyle of your leaders and better yet Jesus. God bless you |
