It's utterly disgraceful. Using the same lies and division tactics that was used to destroy the fabric of Nigeria, I wouldn't entirely put the blame on him, as someone who migrated to the US at an early age, it is something he probably learned from his parents.

in the context of the American demographic and political landscape, you just have to replace Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and others with White,Asian, Black, Hispanic and play out the same cards, so for example in Nigeria, he would say "so and so tribe wanted to attack me because I am from this tribe" but in America, he would say "so and so racial group tried to attack me because I am black" and that message would get him the sentiment he needs from the target audience.

It's utterly disgusting and just goes to show that A LOT of the tribal nonsense we see in Nigeria was 100% built on lies against other tribes for political benefits

A lot of people are still talking about the scandal involving Colorado Springs mayor Yemi Mobolade. During his 2023 campaign, a cross was burned in front of one of his signs and a racial slur was spray-painted on it. At first, everyone thought it was a real hate crime. But later, investigators said it was actually staged by three people who have now been found guilty in federal court.

Even though Mobolade hasn’t been charged with anything, the situation has upset a lot of people especially some Black Americans. Many feel that a traumatic part of Black American history was used as a political tool. Some say they’re frustrated that someone who immigrated from Africa was put in a position where a hoax like this, ended up helping his campaign by making him look like a victim of racist violence.

People on the political right are angry too. There’s even talk online about a petition, supported by both some Black Americans and some conservatives, calling for Mobolade to step down. Whether that will actually go anywhere is unclear, but the frustration is definitely real.

Overall, the whole situation has left the community divided and a lot of people feeling like their pain and history were taken lightly.
