buckeyemedia:I couldn't be bothered by the false narrative or lies being peddled by a few miserable degenerates. I wouldn't be loosing any sleep soon, we have faced worse |
onatisi:That's because this "news" that the moderators were so quick to happily push to the front page, is one big fat nothing burger. There's absolutely no truth or substance to it. Just another tribal bashing post on nairaland |
Nigeria for sale to the highest bidder. Auction begins at 5 billion dollars |
With the recent xenophobic sentiment in South Africa, how can we be sure that these aren't business men being slandered by the envious South Africans? Make we wait until these people are apprehended by the South African police first. I have met a few South Africans, these people are filled with hate and envy, I wouldn't take this serious until the police get involved It's a shame that these made the front page. |
Gentle reminder that this man's associates Pantami and the other guy Adamu Adamu, both radical islamists were once ministers of the federal Republic of Nigeria |
Firebomber:Abeg share more information on this topic. Sounds like an interesting insight |
ObiPandora:This mighty come as a shocker to you but believe it or not, it’s entirely possible for something to be looted while still having some of its contents left. That's literally what looting means in case you don't understand how that works. When people report a robbery, they’re pointing out that certain items have been stolen not that the entire house has been emptied. The same logic applies to national reserves. I’d suggest using some critical thinking before attempting to discredit the post of others. |
Brenbentondiaz:Baba listen to the language that was spoken in the video then listen to the song being played at the background, stop the nonsense |
GUNITGuy:Man of his word? The media has been manipulated to make it seem that way, look up his time at the FRSC |
Bad guy wey kick Soyinka Comot for US. CHAI, Trump sef ![]() |
GUNITGuy:The guy na fraudster, he claimed if trump won, he would destroy his green card only for Trump to win and then Soyinka started bumbling through some incoherent word salad speech that he wrote. Professor Gbajue |
Professor Gbajue has been gbajued, they lied Obi couldn’t enter UK, He went there, drank tea and took pictures, they lied he couldn't go to the US, he went there and spoke at a convention. All those liars now can't go to the places they claimed obi couldn’t go to. UK go soon ban Professor Gbajue from entering UK and after that e go remain Reno Omokri. |
Gadgetshouse:Wait oh, so some of una really believe say Soyinka tear his USA green card? So maga still dey Naija ![]() |
Love800:Why una dey do like this for Nairaland? Why do the uneducated argue so much. Is CNN listed as a stock? Is BBC listed as a stock? CNN is under the warner group that has invested heavily in Internet media, the BBC is supported by the British government, it is not a private corporation and the BBC now has numerous online services, I watch most of my football and British shows on the BBC Iplayer service which accounts for most of the BBC viewership in recent times. Is traditional TV going to make a comeback anytime soon with amazon, netflix, Disney, apple and even fox, cnn and BBC fully adopting streaming ? What card does traditional TV have up its sleeve to make a huge comeback? Is there an upward trend to signal a steady growth in traditional TV stocks ? Stop unnecessarily arguing and get educated on the topic first. Una tire person oh |
muykem:I am not against this bro, hunger too much so if I see affordable food me sef go buy, I am only stating the obvious, this is not sustainable and we need to reclaim our farmlands and enforce security with brute force and ruthlessness our farmlands |
VeeVeeMyLuv:I didn't even have to search too hard to find one of our Benin brothers. Nigerians are smart, na just bad governance
|
Nigerian doctors full everywhere for USA and Canada, some of the best doctors in the United States come from all parts of Nigeria, there are even worldclass doctors from the northern part of Nigeria in the United States and in countries like Qatar and Saudi
|
Dotherightthing:Except for the excerpt that was gotten from it which you can clearly see up there along with the date 2024 which clearly isn't 2020. I am assuming telling the truth is now a luxury for some Nigerians |
simpleseyi:Does the simple in your username really stand for what I think it stands for? |
erad:Bro you go explain tire. Whoever told Nigerians that school was a scam needs to be hunted down as that person might have just done irreparable damage to the mental capacity of the average Nigerian. This thread is a clear indication of that. |
PigTormentor:I sincerely do hope and pray that things get better. The points I have mentioned here today have nothing to do with political affiliations, rather these are policy based points that would be asked by anyone who understands how economics works, nevertheless I really do hope things take a turn for the better as rain dey fall on all men, regardless of ethnoreligious backgrounds |
Flangelo12:Correct, that's a brilliant response actually. |
Flangelo12:You do realize that fuel subsidy was because of the global oil price crisis from the 70s and not insecurity which is the cause of food scarcity in Nigeria and has now forced the FG to implement this price reduction, you don't grow oil, its always there for production, however you grow food. If at some point we don't crush this insecurity, we would have no choice but to import most if not all of our food produce. Have you seen the cost of food in countries like Norway and Switzerland that import some of their agricultural produce? Good luck subsidising the cost of food then especially when the average Nigerian earns less than 10% of what the average Norwegian or Swiss citizen earns. The only way here is to crush this terrorist and reclaim 100% of our farm lands and send the farmers back to the farms! |
Lionnation:There's nothing wrong with it on paper, however it would take all but six months to one year to collapse entirely as it is not sustainable, that subsidised agricultural produce would have to be balanced on the other side of the balance sheet |
Lanretoye:I was hoping for a more substantial rebuttal. Na Nigerians go still cry when there's an astronomical increase in taxes as a result of that "cheap" agricultural produce. You buy yam for 10 naira but pay three times the taxes, oh well but at least yam dey cheap, right? Una no even know anything about economics, una own na to chook neck out for anything you perceive to be political, I have since moved away from the political blindness. What is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. |
Dotherightthing:https://www.cbn.gov.ng/Out/2024/RSD/Refocusing Agricultural Subsidy for Food.pdf This is from an official CBN report from 2025 "Agricultural subsidies in Nigeria can further be justified by the worsening poverty estimated at 40.0 per cent in 2019 which is more pronounced in rural areas at 52.1 per cent (NBS, 2020). The income inequality of 35.1 per cent is also a call for concern just as the raging insecurity in the country. Poverty is more pronounced among male and female agricultural households, compared with other employment categories in rural, urban areas in the country." It's already being done, they just don't have to tell you. Anyone who knows about economics, knows that there are certain elements that needs to be in place to see a reduction of prices, either aggressive output, increased productivity, excess supply, a reduction in demand etc. In the case of Nigeria at the moment, insecurity has drastically reduced our agricultural productivity, our oil export is also experiencing some downturn, so what could possibly be the catalyst that has triggered this "price reduction" in Agricultural products? In the words of Wole Soyinka, this is "voodoo economics" Simple solution to this, solve the insecurity issue, you cannot be aware of a leak on a ship and still go ahead to set sail with that ship with the intention to patch that ship up as you are on your journey. That's calling for disaster. |
Dotherightthing:I don't think you understand how scarcity and demand works, go through my previous post again. You cannot teach them a lesson when you are paying a portion of the actual cost of a product in order to sell that product at a reduced price thereby giving the illusion that there's been a cost reduction. Its an unsustainable bubble that would burst sooner or later |
Flangelo12:I updated the post, please read through and see the problem with this policy |
yarimo:Bro that's not the case. Crashing food prices when you have insecurity issues that led to the scarcity of food prices in the first place is not sustainable. What is basically happening here is that the FG are using the national reserves to balance out the actual price of the agricultural products so the sellers can at a rate that doesn't actually reflect the true cost of the product. If for example a tuber of yam now sells for 3k due to insecurity and the FG covers N800 of that, the farmers can now sell for 2200, not because there's been an actual price reduction but because the FG covered for a substantial amount of that 3k. It's a stop gap, it might help make food more accessible for a short time but it's not sustainable because the FG are taking funds directly from the national reserves and this would have to be replaced one way or the other (does the new 2026 tax policy ring any bells?) , Also that 3k tuber of yam would most likely sell for almost twice that price in 6 months to a year, as the Islamic terrorists destroy more farm lands and kill more farmers, meaning the FG would have to cover more cost for agricultural products which would in turn lead to more taxes on Nigerians ( remember the FG are not getting this money from thin air, they have to replenish the money they take out meaning more taxes OR request a loan from the IMF and to pay that loan we would need to raise money from somewhere, example...taxes!) We could do this or, here's a thought, we could just crush the terrorists once and for all. And a first step towards doing this is by calling them terrorists and not bandits. Enough of the silly games |
Oga Mike, good morning
