Discouraging our youths from engaging in social vices is very challenging.

These young people are not blind or ignorant. They see the struggles of their honest parents. They watch their educated and intelligent brothers, cousins, and uncles remain jobless and trapped in poverty despite their hard work. Their efforts seem to lead nowhere, and they are still facing hardship.

Naturally, our youths don’t want to end up the same way. They begin to believe that hard work and education do not guarantee success.

On the other hand, they see politicians and even uneducated individuals driving the biggest cars in the community—people with no clear source of income yet living in luxury.

Given this reality, it will take the grace of God for a young person to choose the path of honesty and hard work.

Our leaders need to do far better, if not the crime may also consume them as well. It's a matter of time.
