Did anyone hear about the federal high court judgement in Lagos this past week stating that weddings conducted at the Ikoyi federal marriage registry are invalid? Anyone?
And what or how does this judgement affect spouse visa applicants who had their weddings at this court/registry. Let’s discuss this fellas and ladies in the house. |

Okay. I think I should call/email first. Do you or anyone here have the UKVI contact number or email please. Thanks Aphrodite007: I think that might make sense. You can send the envelope with with a note containing your GWF no., informing them of your error. Better still, mail or call them for enquiries. |

Minnienellie24: In my own understanding, the self-addressed envelope is required to send your supporting documents back to you. and because most of these documents are of great importance to virtually all applicants, they believe that you would want it to get back to you safe. So i would say the implication of not including one could be loosing your document. |

Hello house. Good morning
Quick question(s) please. What is the implication of not including a self addressed envelope in the documents sent to UKVI? Also, has anyone missed out sending the envelope with their documents as well in the past? If yes, what did you do? did it affect your application in anyway?
Anyone with the contact email address of the UKVI where you can send email to to inquire or know if they have received your supporting documents?
I will appreciate a prompt response to these questions. Thanks and have a great day |

Thanks Phoenix77. I’ve just finished the payment now using my naira MasterCard and it worked. Yaay. Lol. I used two cards (one for IHS and the other for the main application). Thanks for the assistance. Appreciate it. Now the application is done now... going in for biometrics next wed. Fingers crossed. Please I am seeing something that’s a bit not clear on the TLs website. They are saying something like I have to still bring in all my supporting documents to the biometrics appointment for scanning to UKVI. How true is this cos I’ve been hearing and actually know is to let your sponsor/partner send the documents direct to Sheffield hence all my support long docs have been sent to Wifey. Please can anyone make clarification on this. Thanks Phoenix77: You welcome... |

Oh thanks Phoenix77. This helps a lot. I’m even glad that it’s GTBank as that’s my bank as well. I did exactly the same (paid from my naira account from GTBank using my MasterCard) and it went through without a hitch. I did the payment twice just as you did too. I’m just surprised that the guy I met at the customer service of the bank told me otherwise and my brother backed it up with the GTBank story. Will try to use my account tomorrow since you even did yours a few months back in Dec, I’m sure I should be able to do so too. Will update you on the outcome tomorrow. Thanks once again for your help and the screenshot actually did help Phoenix77: I did mine Dec 20th 2017 so its still very recent and it went through...so maybe it has changed i dont know. Trust me...getting a domiciliary acct is very easy...but getting the dollars to fund it is the hard part...cos the banks wont sell or change for u..they tell u to source for it outside....and going to buy from all these bur-dechange is additional cost.... Attached a screenshot of my debit alert...hope it helps |

I did exactly this same thing for my first application but that was in 2016. I don’t know when you did or made your application but my brother is telling me that the CBN has changed it’s policy regarding paying for application online with naira debit cards. He said they will only allow Dollior or pounds domiciliary account now. Anyone know of a better way to go about the application and IHs payment. Please help me people. Especially people who made their applications recently. Thanks all. Phoenix77: I used my naija debit cards...but i had to use 2 diff ones cos once u charge d first one u wont be able to charge the second one cos of the huge amount..i was unable to charge the main fees on mine after paying the IHS...so i simply used another debit card from a diff bank and it went through without a prob. Goodluck. |

I wen to the bank abd was told that I can’t use my naira MasterCard that I have to use my dollar/pounds domiciliary accounts which I’ve not even used before and don’t have a card for. My brother told me that it’s CBN as they have changed the rules of making huge payments using a naira account. I don’t know how true this is though Aphrodite007: I didn't use a nigerian card for the payments, but I think you can go to the bank and tell them to open your card for huge payments. |

Quick question please. What is the easiest way to pay for the application and IHs fee from Nigeria? Do Nigerian banks allow payment that huge from using the normal Naija debit cards or you have to use a dollar/pounds domiciliary account? Anyone that has done it successfully using Naija cards should advise on what to do please. Thank you |

Thanks @phatbaby. God bless you. I actually have picked one or two things that I could use in your response.... especially the screenshot. Like you said, I’m actually going to pick milestones like “birthdays, wedding planning holidays we both went on together and times she cane visiting to Nig” parts of the chats and screenshot them so I can use to back up the chats on word document. I believe you’re absolutely right by pointing it out that they might think or believe that word document could be edited. Also I’m going to screenshot our WhatsApp calls/video calls which unfortunately (might not be much cos I didn’t think of doing it right from a few months ago like you did your). But thanks again.... I believe it’s never too late as I haven’t even submitted the application yet Actually I have a lawyer involved in this application and he doesn’t see anything wrong in the WhatsApp history on word document.... only that he said I and my wife must back it up with a cover summarising how we came about the history and how we came about the about 100 pages we plan to compress the chats into. But I strongly believe including the screenshots would even go a longer way in convincing the ECO or whoever is going to handle it So are you in Brum already or that’s where you will be settling when you enter. Been to New Street a few times.... when I used to go visit my wife’s parents in Birmingham trying to ask for their blessings on marrying their daughter lol phatbaby1: Oh great! Personally, after reading a lot of different forums I went with screenshots and not the downloaded chat. I just felt that the downloaded chat could be easily edited compared to a screenshot. I chose one or two per month going back 3 years and I set the word page to landscape and arranged 3 pics per page. I ended up with around 50 pages. Now remember, it’s all about proving that our relationship was genuine over the time stated so I was trying to show where we started and milestones like bdays, valentines, planning our wedding. I believe every case is different and you might have your own way you want to prove. I supported the chat with screenshots showing Whatsapp voice and video calls on the call log. This doesn’t go back very far but I had remembered to start taking screen shots of that three months before the application. It was just to prove that we talk every day. Again this could all be unnecessary so go with your gut instinct of what you think proves your relationship.
Good luck and hopefully see u at Birmingham New Street station. |

Hello house.....
I’ve been a bit quiet on here. Reason is I’ve been busy compiling documents for my reapplication. As I get to a concluding stage for compilation, I have a question regarding WhatsApp chat history for evidence or proof of communication. Please how do I go about almost 5,000 pages of WhatsApp chat history on Microsoft word. I am aware I’m to edit it and summarise it... please if you’ve been in my shoes before or graduated, how did you summarise your own? Did you just pick two random chats/pages of chat per month or just bits and bobs to form a whole page on word document. Please someone should explain how they did theirs. Thanks |

Unfortunately ma’am, I think you have applied for the wrong category according to that email you posted. If I’m very correct, settlement visa only applies to applicants who have a British citizen or s someone who has indefinite stay in the UK as their sponsor/spouse. You should just have applied for a dependent visa (a tier 2 dependent visa). I’m actually not sure what will happen to your £5k... but I pray they refund you so you can use to apply for the right category. All the best. Gurus in the house, I think once there are new comers... we should always endeavour to ask them the status of their spouse/sponsor (based on this eyeopener) before even giving them advices and guidance so they are not wasting their time. mzapplication: Lexus G, Justwise,
Please see email that I received today: 12 weeks on the dot
The UK Decision Making Centre is currently assessing the application submitted by the above named. We are unable to conclude the application at this time.
From the evidence submitted it would seem that your sponsor is currently in the UK on a Tier 2 visa and has limited leave to remain. Given this you do not qualify for settlement.
Given this it is recommended that you withdraw your settlement application and that of your 2 children and re-apply for a Tier 2 dependent visas for all 3 of you.
Please check the www.gov.uk webiste for full details of how to apply.
I am very confused and don't understand the mail. I have gone back to check to see where (or if) I made a mistake in selecting the visa type.
Is it not a settlement visa? I was going to call them but want to take some time to do my research, possibly speak to am immigration lawyer.
And the fees! Have I lost over 5k pounds just like this? |

You’re absolutely right about this.... the person should just do that... I’m sure he/she will be financially compensated aside fasttracking the appeal. Lexusgs430: Apart from appealing, I think you need to escalate to anyone higher. Possibly a letter to the home office, home office minister etc etc etc (copy all the copyables) (if such a word exists).....
Your case can be deemed as gross misconduct and negligence, on their part. Express your anger in the letter how incompetent the case worker was (you might get your appeal expedited and possibly small compensation)..... |

Hi.... actually I think you should sue the ECO or Home Office as a whole when you get to the UK for that stupid decision.... your UK University certificate is absolutely enough to cover your English language requirement.... never seen or heard of a case where they deny based on that before. Please sue them. Teeaas: Well a lot of people doubt when I say this. Also like I said before, let just pray that a stupid ECO does not handle ones case. I included the original. Okay thanks. Regarding work... I don’t have to get the police report to work. I lived in the UK for a few years before coming back home for wedding as I didn’t want to stay illegally after the expiration of my visa. So I have a valid NI with at least three years work experience. Besides I have a full UK CRB (criminal record) certificate which is still valid.

Morning Please can you update us (or me) as your application progresses because I’m particularly interested in knowing if there isn’t a problem with trying to use priority visa once one has been denied once. I was denied my spouse visa in Dec 2016.... I plan to reapply soon on priority visa so I would really like to have the assurance that I’m good to go with the priority regardless of my previous refusal. Thanks and good luck Teeaas: Please guys I need to know. I applied for settlement visa in November 2017 and was denied in December 2017 for not meeting English Lan gauge requirement even though I have a masters from a uk university. I has paid for priority. I reapplied paying priority again. Now my question is, will they treat the second application as priority or not because I was denied at the first application. Thanks. |
