Congratulations
Ibkbosson:
I'm not a slient follower obviously but I would like to post my timeline.
It's a YES!! For me
This is my second application
First application (standard application)- Abuja
Biometrics- May 31st 2017
NSF Email - August 17th 2017
I escalated 4 times. My husband's MP wasn't very helpful
November 22nd 2017 - Refusal for English requirement.

Second application ( priority)
Biometrics- June 1st
Escalated once on - July 13th
Contacted MP on August 8 he said decision was made August 7th
Decision made email - August 13th
Courier delivery - August 15th
vignette- August 14 - September 15

My first refusal was a stupid mistake of submitting an original reference letter from school with a general training ielts test instead of the original certificate of my Uk master's degree certificate. In those few months I waited I went through all the immigration rules I could find.

You are such an intelligent human being. You said it all. Thanks for this wonderful piece

oxygyne:

In as much as we sympathize with all candidates who get refused (and of cause I will admit that it is easier to say when you yourself don't get a refusal) but considering the number of applications submitted to UKBA on a daily basis from candidates all over the world, it would be very hard to expect the ECO to call schools or jobs to confirm these things.

Yes, the humane thing to do is make that call to the school but what is the limit, at what point do they decide which calls to make and the ones not to make. I do not think UKBA will have the resources or time to call for every error or omissions, that's a big burden, however, someday they might consider expanding their scope to be able to do this.

I do believe some ECOs will feel bad because they are not allowed to make these decisions to call or confirm such omissions, they are only working within the restrictions of the business or office. I hope you understand.

I will advise that we keep supporting each other by providing relevant information to members who need them. A post like the one from @ibkbosson goes a long way to prevent someone else from making the same or similar mistake.

Thank you all, all the best.

If you know that he can constantly do the overtime for six months at stretch or has constantly done it (prior to the time of submitting your application) and you/your hubby can prove this by showing the payslips (as you have said) which shows that his salary plus overtime totals more than 18600 per annum plus also you can back that up with showing the payments go into his personal accounts with a bank statement, then you are good to go. You don’t have to wait for the increment in salary and the extra 6 months.

But I must emphasise that you make sure all the conditions I stated above that surrounds the salary/overtime are met please. It is important even though very risky.

The SAFEST option from my experience is just to wait for the extra 6 months after the salary increment. That just gives you the “peace of mind”.

It’s entirely up to you to decide though
swtjane:
Thanks so much for your assistance. My husband earns £18000 per annum but due to the expense he makes in the office he earn above that. For example his salary is £15000 but his gross pay for the month was £15840 after adding up expenses and it is shown on his payslip. And please do you mean if dey increase his salary this month we have to start counting six months all over again.
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by MreSBee: 8:42pm On Aug 13, 2018
Hi Swtjane, we chose category A.... but before I comment on your husband’s case... you said he earns 18k right? When he does overtime, does he earn more than 18600. You know that’s the threshold. If he does then I will suggest you choose same category (A) and ensure that you have all the necessary documents to back it up as well as writing a letter to explain it plus ensuring that the overtime pay as well as the main salary appear in the bank statement which will be submitted.

Note, as Oxygyne has rightly said too, you must ensure he has earned the salary for at least 6 months.... whether it is the old or the new salary which the company has agreed to increase it to.

swtjane:
Good morning MreSBee I really need your assistance, was your wife on a salaried paid job and picked the category A on the unsalaried paid job because my husband is on a salaried job and he earns £18000 but his pay varies due to expenses and overtime. Please what category can we go for. His employer has also agreed to increase this pay to £18600.

Okay. If you say so... I’m not yet a citizen... I just commented based on what I know and the info I gather. Like you suggested, let him try... he might be lucky.

Good luck to him and everyone still expecting their good news
Minnienellie24:

I became a citizen through same process and my Dad was not a citizen as at the time of my birth and I was well over 18 when I applied. I was 26 years to be precised. Let him make the decision to try himself. Applications are often time dealt with on an individual basis and there are sometimes exceptions to certain rules.

If you read the first paragraph of the attached screenshot well... it says “you may be eligible if your father was a British citizen by the time you were born”. The guy said the fiancée’s dad became a citizen in 2009 (by marriage)... the fiancée is 25 years now.

To the best of my knowledge, I think the father would have been able to apply for a citizenship for the fiancée in 2009 as at when he became citizen because she was 17 (less than 18 years) when she is still legally a child. But now that she’s above 18 years, I’m afraid there’s no way the British dad will be able to file for the child now because she is a fully grown adult now.

Minnienellie24:

I would try to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge. I really do hope someone would as well help in answering it better if i dont do enough justice to it.
Your fiancee might be able to claim British citizenship by descent through his Dad. They tend to look at when his Dad became a citizen to when your fiancee was born but this I am not 100% sure of.
https://www.gov.uk/apply-citizenship-british-parent

You can got through the link above. There is no harm in trying. It would cost you £80 plus any required fee for a DNA test at a specified clinic.
PLEASE GO THROUGH THE LINK AND DO NOT BASE YOUR DECISIONS ON MY RESPONSE.
Good-luck.

Exactly my thought as I was reading through his comments.

The question Rickie asked may appear too harsh but it’s actually the reality of the matter, you want visa or not? The truth is these people want as less people as possible into their country (whether via spouse via or visit visa) so it is with excitement and joy that they refuse people visa on slight mistakes or omission of key documents/evidence/proofs..... something as simple as not submitting enough call logs or enough pictures. If/when they refuse such visas, trust me... there’s nothing anybody can do. You can appeal but imagine the extra money and time that you will spend on that too... especially as it’s uncertainty.

The best is just to give them all they ask for plus extra... trust me, if you have experienced denied or refusal of visa before after spending over £3k and most importantly having gone through extreme emotional and mental trauma, you will give them more than what they ask for... you go even wan give them nudes join.

Mr Chris, hope you understand what I mean.

Lexusgs430:

It looks like you are arguing with yourself. A visa prerequisite has been set. You have 2 choices, after paying heavily for the application....

1 - Trying to proof beyond reasonable doubt
2 - Submitting anything anyhow (and support it with prayer + day & night vigil)

Either way, let your bank balance decide and weigh it against your emotional fragility......

Oh I see. Heathrow is always like that. Their wahala there is always extra.

When I mentioned Arik, I was referring to Arik when it was really Arik... not the crap they have today. My first experience with them to The UK was actually over 6 years ago. But now I can never ever try Arik again. My final experience was when I traveled to Ghana 2 years ago and they delayed me for about 5 hours with no single explanation or even “sorry”.

Of course BA is king as well as Virgin... Lufthansa too is nice.... but try Emirates too and you will know that Ethiopian is just a learner lol.

Anyway. Welcome again. Hope you’re settling in well

I didnt come in through Birmingham. .i came through heathrow....i think it depends on d border force person u meet...
And no ill pass on Airfrance..total crap never a nice experience with them for me..Arik ISSA NO for me ...they can delay your entire life for one trip...never used Emirates...for now my favs are Ethiopian, lufthansa and British Airways
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by MreSBee: 7:13am On Jul 27, 2018
I came in through that same Birmingham airport last month and I wasn’t asked much questions... nothing like “show me your TB certificate”. I also had a few degrees in the U.K. and wasn’t asked any questions other than a few details about my studies then. I wasn’t detained and all. I don’t know why yours was like that.

I don’t think I spent more than 5 minutes with the border man before I went to pick my luggage and left the airport. Anyway, the most important thing is you’re in now so welcome ma’am....

In terms of the airline, maybe you should try emirates or Air France/KLM (these are my two bests out of the few airlines I’ve used to travel). I’ve once used Kenyan airways and Arik too though.

Extremebeau:
Hello beautiful people.so i arrived the UK safely into the waiting arms of my hubby today using Ethiopian airways, my new favourite airline now..impeccable service and excellent customer service.
Got to the border and the lady just kept asking me series of questions about my immigration history asking about my schooling time in d UK and when i left the UK as though all the information wasnt on my passport.she detained me for a while to check the information i gave her and said if all checks out she ll update her system with my visa new status. Suprisingly she asked for my TB certificate.explained to her why it wasnt with me and she asked for the photocopy which i gave her.
Immediately i got to Birmingham i went straight to d postoffice and picked up my BRB before going home cos i have 2days left on my entry clearance. On getting home with the husband they had delivered our documents.they returned everything we sent including the photocopies

Madam..... if you love yourself (especially your sanity and peace of mind), do not.... I repeat DO NOT take that risk. A word is enough for the wise.

Trust me, it will cost you way less money, save you much more time and save you even much more stress if you can just do the NARIC thing right now. You don’t want to experience what it’s like being denied a visa after spending that much and waiting such a long time.

Please I repeat DO NOT TAKE THAT RISK O

Oh okay. It seemed longer than two weeks abd a few days. Welcome anyway.....

Yes she’s fine. Hope your hubby is good too and enjoying all of you lol

Lol...I travelled at exactly 2 weeks and 4 days after I got the visa cos I had give them notice/resign properly at work. Moreso, I had to see family and a few friends. It seemed as tho that immigration guy had issues with me cos I felt some of his questions were uncalled for. In all,I jumped and passed. I picked up my BRP today. Hope madam is doing good.
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by MreSBee: 10:02am On Jul 02, 2018
Wow.... It took you ages to enter lol.... I got my visa two weeks or so after yours and I already have spent almost a week in the UK before you arrived. Well, its all good.....at least you are here now.... I was lucky not to have met a very inquisitive immigration officer like yours (maybe its because I landed in Birmingham though)....the only funny question he asked was the name of my spouse lol....then he asked 2/3 more and that's it.... didn't meet any other officer or person till I got out to the arrival lobby of the airport.

I hope you haven't forgotten that you only have one month on your vignette visa... Go get your BRP ASAP.

Good luck to others waiting for their good news

Embellish:
Hi everyone,
I got to the UK yesterday and the immigration officer asked quite a number of questions. He asked me when and where I got married, how I met my husband,if I had resigned from work in Nigeria and if I planned to work in the UK,if I already had a job offer here, where my husband works and what he does there, then he asked me where his office was located. Well,I knew where he worked but didn't know the location and I told him so. He didn't seem too pleased that I didn't have that info. He then told me to try and get to Southampton by Monday to pick up my BRP. Na so I run leave am o,before he'd look for something out of the blues to ask.

Congratulations ma'am.

Praying for others waiting to share their good news pretty soon.

By the way, I'm back home now (back in the UK). Had a very hitch free journey... no issues at the border (just a few questions at the port of entry by the immigration officer) plus the weather has been very great (got me feeling it is a bit hotter than naija sef lol)

Hi all,

I have been a silent follower for a while and just wanted to post mine and hubby's experience. He was finally granted his visa yesterday and words cant describe the feeling after such a long wait. This forum has helped so much, especially seeing people's good news stories etc. It makes the long wait a little better when you know others have waited long too.

Our timeline (non-priority):

Online Submission: 22nd March
Biometrics: 22nd March
Documents sent: 22nd March
Decision made: 26th June
Passport ready for collection: 26th June
Passport collected with visa: 26th June
Total: 65 working days

Praying for positive outcomes for all who are still waiting!

Hmmmm.... bro I’m afraid this is not a good omen.... it’s beginning to look like the events that led to me being denied my first application in 2016.

First the application took unnecessarily too long. Then after like 3 months of no form of communication at all from UKVi (except the “application not so straightforward” email that I got), they contacted my wife and one of her employers (cos we combined two jobs then) and started interviewing them both and were going back and forth on it until my wife was frustrated and didn’t want to speak to them again. Then after another month or so they sent my passport and then it was denied. Altogether the application took about 6 months.

I hope you did not combine two jobs.... and also I hope your wife’s job is legit. These are some of the reasons why they interview both the applicants sponsor and their employer

I sincerely pray that regardless of all the calls and the unnecessary delay, your application turns out positive. God will favour you. Keep believing bro.

Keep us updated.
readynow:

Yes we have contacted them my wife called twice they have called her employer and they also called her to ask her some questions too. The second call she made they said they are done with all they needed to do and waiting for home office to respond to them as all investigation have been done.Well I believe God that it will end well in Jesus name.

Hello good people,

I’m pleased to inform you guys that I have finally gotten my spouse visa. After an initial refusal of an almost 6 months application in December 2016, I waited the whole of 2017 together with my wife to work on getting it right for the next application and thank God, the long wait paid off now.

Timeline:

Hi Embellish..... I think we both applied around the same time (this is me quoting one of your replies a few weeks ago.... I think you mentioned that you applied a week after readynow which was when I applied to...2nd of March to be precise) please what date exactly did you submit your application and did your biometrics? I’m asking all these because if going by the fact that we applied around the same time, I’m wondering why we haven’t gotten a pick up email yet and also why my wife hasn’t received my own documents just as your hubby has. And also which of the TLS office did you applied from (Ikeja, VI or Abuja)?

Hope you don’t think my questions are too much lol.....

Awwwww. So sad. So sorry about the refusal.... that was a very costly mistake..... I’ve been in this position before... it’s not the best.

Maybe there’s a reason for the refusal who knows

I pray God will make the next application successfully and all your efforts and time will not be in vain.

shemafia:

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to go all silent. My application was not successful. Its not exactly funny dealing with a refusal.
Reason for refusal: Hubby mistakenly submitted bank statement for 2 months instead of 6. Not that he didn't have it (He has worked at the same job for almost 10years), but as of now he can not say how he managed to make such a mistake.
I was so sure we would get it, because i did my home work well. Moving forward, we will try again. Immediately.
