Two men, Sale Abacha and Malummodu Ibrahim, have died after allegedly being shot by soldiers in the Adigbe area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.



The soldiers, who were reportedly led by one Lt. Col. Ali, and one Barrister Bashir, invaded the community around 1am last Saturday, Punch reports.





At least 5 people were shot during attack and they were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre for treatment.

Pleas to grant leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu a presidential pardon, has been shut down by President Muhammadu Buhari.



Though President Buhari had in November 2021 promised to consider the request of some leaders from the South East region to release Kanu who is facing treason charges preferred against him by the Nigerian Government, in an interview with Channels Television which was aired on Wednesday Janaury 5, the Nigerian President said Kanu must answer for his actions over the years, especially while he was out of the country.





Accusing Kanu of abusing his administration while in Europe "as if he was not a Nigerian", the President said he won't be interfering in judicial responsibilities.

Troops have killed two bandits said to be terrorising residents of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.


This is coming after several people were killed in Kerawa and Sabon Birnin villages in Igabi and Zaria local government areas by bandits.

Seventeen suspected members of three different rival gangs who merged to form one super gang known as YPF, are facings series of charges (a total of 118 counts) after being arrested and variously charged in two indictments with conspiracy to commit murder, possession of weapons, and other crimes in connection to shootings that resulted in 14 victims, including four who died.


The defendants, 14 of whom are teenagers, are accused of hunting down rival gang members and committing a series of armed assaults, killing four people and wounding 10 in the process, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office said.

The ban on Twitter operation in the country may soon be lifted as the social media giant has reportedly met six conditions imposed on it by the Nigerian government.



The Nation reported that the Technical Committee raised by the government to resolve the impasse between the two parties is fine-tuning the offers by the micro blogger before making a final recommendation to President Muhammadu Buhari.



It was also reported that though the President has agreed in principle that Twitter’s social networking operation be restored in Nigeria, he is awaiting the report of the committee to lift the ban it imposed on Twitter on June 4, last year.
