The Cross River state House of Assembly is mourning the death of one of its lawmakers, Hon Simon Nkoro, who died after a protracted illness just three months after his colleague slumped and passed.

Nigeria Politics Today reports that Nkoro represented Ikom constituency 2 until his death and was said to have died on Saturday, August 25.

His death was reportedly confirmed by Friday Okpechi, his colleague representing Obubra constituency 1, in the afternoon of Sunday, August 26.

The report said the late Nkoro was a two term lawmaker.

In May, 2018, the state had lost Stephen Ukpukpen, who represented Obodu constituency.

Ukpukpen was the chairman of the public accounts committee of the Assembly.

immediate past lawmaker who represented Kogi west senatorial district at the Senate between 2007 -2015, is dead.

The Co-ordinator of smart adeyemi vanguard lokoja chapter, Barr. Labaran confirmed this in a short statement on Saturday. .
Barr. Labaran wrote: "With deepest and heart felt sorrow I condole our Distinguished senator Smart for the sudden lost of his beloved wife today, we pray that Almighty give you the strength to bear this sudden great loss!"
