Let's get things clear.
I'm not in love with okoada and Kekes. They also have their faults.

However the government approach is wrong.

First they should consider the social consequences of this so called "restriction".

These bikes and Kekes are a business, Micro Finance banks (who pay taxes to government and employ Lagosians ) have invested heavily in this mode of transportation. How do we expect them to recover?

If the government decides to ban, why can't they give the operators some time. 6-8 months notice is not a bad idea.

Then every party involved will have time to plan an exit strategy.

If you take away a mans means of livelihood how do you expect him to survive?

They dont owe anybody an alternative. You should be asking yourself, now that okada and napep is banned, what alternative do you have for yourself?

Government officials earn a salary from the taxes you pay from your hard labour and you say they do not owe you an alternative.

We can't call it a bad decision however I do not like the method.

Which alternative has the Lagos State government provided?

They should provide practical alternatives.

I'll be traveling to Cotonou within the week and I've never been there before. Please I'll need some enlightenment from experienced nairalanders about the following:

Cost of transportation.

Reputable tansport company to use.

Cost of hotel or guest house.

Cost of Feeding.

Transportation you can get a bus or cab from Mile 2.

Cost of hotel.. 5,500 Cefa at the barest minimum. That's about N3,300 ( very basic without Ac, but neat and well kept )

Feeding. I discovered a restaurant that sells Naija food. A plate of Eba and Egusi with meat 1k Cefa. About N600.

Documents.. If you have your international passport go along with it and you can have it stamped at the border.

If you don't have a passport no problem, the Cab or bus driver will sort it ( at an extra cost).

Exchange rate for every 1k Naira I got 1,600 Cefa

I was at Cotonou last week. Passed through Ceme Border.

The border closure only affects goods. You are free to cross as a passenger.

This implies the existing traffic nightmare and safety hazard – thousands of 40-ton 12-wheeler road tankers loaded with 33,000 litres of petrol – will simply be moved from Apapa Port and Port Harcourt to the Lekki corridor, on the eastern flank of Lagos.

Instead it looks likely that the Lekki-Epe expressway will become ground zero for an unwelcome and terrifyingly dangerous new tanker traffic problem, which is currently confined to Lagos Mainland.

This clearly sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
