Christianity Etc › Re: Christianity Etc Section And No More Oaths by MrSly(m): 10:04am On Apr 25, 2025
Seun:
Dear Nairalanders,

By popular demand, we have ended the swearing of oaths before commenting on the Islam section. However, the requirement to engage muslims with decency and respect remains.

We have promoted the Islam section to the top level because it's a very important religion.

We have renamed the Religion board as the Christianity Etc board, recognizing the fact that most non-muslims are Christians.

Please enjoy! And feel free to share your feedback about these changes.
Thank you Seun for your effort to eradicate insanity in this forum. I noticed that baseless name calling reduced and reckless banning stopped. Things are really better now and they will reach the uptimum soon. sad

I have noticed another thing. Issue of religion is a sensitive one here in Nigeria and Africa as whole. Every religion is very important to its faithful and so all religion should enjoy equal level of recognition. I am particularly concerned with some thing I deemed as misrepresentation.

1. Referring to Islam as VERY IMPORTANT RELIGION is very bad and lacks every sense of decency and recks of religious intolerance.

2. Classifying Christianity as 'Christianity, etc' is another religious extreme behaviour that depicts obvious disregard for christianity by the handlers if this forum.

3. Saying the you have promoted Islam to a high level shows preference. It is also wrong because no body has the capacity to elevate any religion, you can only be faithful to them.

From my above observations I can easily conclude that you are a Moslem.

My recommendations:

1. Every religion should be classified into one category. If you want to separate them, allow each one be separate, especially the known religions, including African Traditional Religion.

2. Employ the service of unbiased personnels even if on short contract to handle the issue of religion on nairaland as your crew may lack in truth the needed fairness to do so.

Christianity Etc › Re: African Man Flares Up After Being Denied Access To The Late Pope Francis (Pics) by MrSly(m): 3:32am On Apr 25, 2025
GistMedia0:
A touching moment turned tense when an African man, who had patiently waited in line to pay his final respects to the late Pope, was suddenly denied entry. According to reports, he was informed that worship services had been abruptly suspended at the time he attempted to access the remains of the late Pope Francis to pay his last respects to the pontiff.

However, the man observed that others—specifically white visitors—had been allowed inside earlier. Visibly upset, he questioned the decision, asking, “Is it because I’m Black? I just wanted to say goodbye to him.” shocked

His powerful words echoed through the scene as he added, “Even before God, you want to discriminate against us?” cry

The incident has since sparked a wave of emotional reactions online, with many calling for answers and accountability.

Please don't carry this una new trend of victim mentality and bias mind to Rome. Obey protocols. Stop causing public nuisance. See how others were looking at him with disdain. Embarrassing oneself in public is not easy. You left your country in African which is probably languishing with bad leadership and you went to Rome to see Pope, how many of your dead kinsmen in your village have you ever commiserated with?

Toks2008:
There was a time when Michael had nothing but dreams. No money, no status but just raw ambition and a heart full of fire. In that season of his life, there was Ama.

Ama wasn’t flashy. She didn’t have wealth or powerful networks. But she had something far rarer...faith.
Faith in Michael, even when he doubted himself. She stayed through the silent nights when failure felt loudest. She lent him her last when he couldn’t pay his rent, and even more often, she lent him her strength. She was home when life felt like war.

Years passed, and things changed, not overnight, but steadily. Michael got a chance meeting with Zara.

Zara was light years ahead. A woman of influence, class, and undeniable charm. She saw potential in Michael and had the keys to open doors he hadn’t even knocked on yet. With her connections and resources, his career soared. In just two years, Michael became the man he once only dreamed of becoming.

But with success came a dilemma: he could only choose one to walk with him through the rest of his life.

Ama still loves him but no pressure, no demands. She had only ever wanted his happiness and Zara also loves him.

One woman built him slowly, brick by brick. The other elevated him swiftly, like a jet taking flight.

So the question is...If you are in Michael's situation, who will you go for? Ama who stood by you when you had nothing or Zara who made you wealthy?
Wedding two women in a day would not be bad. grin grin grin

Take her as she is or dump her. Confrontation in this case is childis and useless.

She tagged him probably because she feels that her present condition is beyond what he expects from her. So, bragging or teasing is probably her intention for tagging him. And if I am right about her intention, she is a bitter soul.

She didn't tag him with an intention to get back with him. If getting back with him was her intention, she would not have tagged him on public posts because she knew you would see the posts. She would have secretly found a way to reconnect with him.

Tension escalated yesterday in Ryom LGA, Plateau State, as residents fled their homes in anticipation of an attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen. Eyewitnesses reported scenes of chaos as families sought safety before the attackers arrived.
And after this video has been made still govt won't use the forces to do the needful. Tomorrow they will tell me that Tinubu is no aware it is the service chief, it is the commander this or that. Why not sack the incompetent? They all know what is going on.

Dear Nairalanders,

In an effort to address persistent complaints about toxicity on the forum, we extended the mandate of the anti-spam bot to try and tackle insults, tribalism, obvious scams, etc.

While this move dealt a heavy blow to bad actors, the bot also made many mistakes which led to innocent people getting banned from time to time for no good reason. I understand how you feel about this. It is simply not acceptable.

We have reduced the length of the bot bans from up to 3 days to no more than 30 minutes. We are also working to massively improve the accuracy of the bot. Meanwhile, if you are mistakenly blocked, please don' take it personally. We will fix it as soon as we can.

Best Regards,
Seun Osewa.
This not is thorn on people's flesh. I just made my assertions thos morning on a politics section and low I was banned immediately. I am even surprise that I could quote now, most probably because of the 30minites reduction. It is well. We are positive that you will succeed in your good endeavours to make nairaland great again, where people will call a spade for what it is and same to shovel.

There was unrest in Zaki Biam, Benue State, as angry youths vehemently rejected Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia, Ukum LGA Chairman Hon. Jonathan Modi, and other prominent indigenes from entering their community. Shouting “Go! We don’t need you here!”, the protesters blocked access and expressed their dissatisfaction with the government’s presence and perceived neglect of the area.
What goes round always comes around. Gov Alia denied a man entry into his state. A senior citizen of Nigeria whose intention was to donate generously to a school that even the gov Alia himself has not given any meaningful assistance. The man went away with his money, he lost nothing and you gained nothing but loss.

Now you are being rejected by the people you govern. They needed not political pronouncement. Your rejection @ Alia was an organic one.
